The fight wasn't boring when you had about 1/5 of the utilities you now have. You had only 8 debuff slots, and had to coordinate your DPS accordingly.

Also, half of this fight was just gearing your 40 man raid up for it. Your tank had to be in full on 360 FR gear, seeing as we only had fragments of a gimped T1 at that time.

This was before "epics" were hand fed to you and you had to work hard to get good blues. Wish they'd run an official vanilla server, I'd come out of retirement.

Positive side of vanilla: Awsome game sociality (like tbc), everyone did quests together etc. you were out in the world much more instead of joining bgs/dungeons through a city. More balanced, no resilience. hard to get epics. you dident need a naga mouse for keybinds

Negative side of vanilla: Loooooong way to travel, mage/warrior/rouge were killing machines in pvp rest were victims. you had to farm for a very long time to get gold for mount.

@ThePatricco I never played vanilla.. But it seems so MUCH more fun than cata and wotlk.. Here are some things why I find vanilla the best:

- World PvP

- You couldn't get to max lvl in just 2 weeks, what you can do now.

- The damage was balanced to the health that people had. Nowadays you can hit 2x more than you have health with only 1 spell!

- Getting gear required skill and hard work.

- The dungeon system didn't exist, it completly ruined the connection between people on same server.

-World pvp 90% of the time was ganking and only fun to the person who didnt get killed when their just trying to get to the raid instance. Though it was very fun when it was group v group.

-Max level took months of monotonous questing and you were walking with no mount more than half the time, in many level ranges there weren't even quests to do to advance to the next zone.

-Vanilla dmg was definitely not balanced towards players health, if you didn't one shot your opponent, then they would one shot you. And if you weren't in full raid or pvp epics pvp wasn't even an option.

-Yes getting gear was harder true, but it was harder in that it required you to have 39 friends you were able to miraculously coordinate and even with dedicated guilds several afker's was a common thing. Raids in cata are much, much more difficult mechanics wise then vanilla.

-Though i agree with you on the dungeons system in that it made servers feel less like a community and you now spend most your time with randoms you'll never see again, in vanilla doing an instance while leveling up was such a hassle most people simply did not bother.

I apologise for the multiple wall of texts, it's just that although the community in vanilla was better, Cataclysm (gameplay and mechanics wise) is the best WoW has ever been, as unpopular as that opinion may be.

@thelodde That's not true. Back then it was "LFM Onyxia" and everyone at level 60 could get an invite. Nowadays you must have a specific achievement and a specific gearscore :S. Also leveling was way more challenging back then. Sure it was sometimes a grind, but that's what we liked ^.^'. Looms and the experience boost from 1-80 kinda ruined the fun. Leveling is 1 shotting from 1-70 with looms.

@realkndman Vanilla WoW refers to the live game before the expansions were implanted. Up to patch 1.12.1 in other words. It is impossible to play previous versions of the game like 1.12.1 in retail. However, you can play them on private servers.
