Very good videos! You wear interesting shirts but what if you wore the SAME shirt with your website in bold letters? You might get a lot more traffic in your store. Keep rock'in.
You are my favourite guitar player on youtube, learned so much from your video's. Helped me to find my way as a guitarist.. thank you for your nice video's and keep on the good work!
Hey...the ascending riff, the riff for the verses of the song, aren't the way that Page plays it. Watch 'It Might Get Loud.". His hands move down the neck, there is no anchor note on the A string like you're playing.
@mattsmith0209 There are plenty of videos (75, 77, 79, 88) and hundreds of still photos of Zeppelin playing Kashmir. You can see pretty clearly how Jimmy played it.
@privettricker I think you said you had a wife. An awesome one to be exact, lol. Have you taught her to play guitar? Thanks for the lesson, by the way.
@thehobbit1116 My wife is one of those people who can pick up any instrument and get a song out of it after 15 minutes. I taught her a handful of Buddy Holly tunes and she picked them up instantly. I'm almost afraid to teach her any more, because she'll be better than me in a few months.
@sowhatdude1 I don't chew them, actually. I rip them short, ever since having a string slide up under a nail about 20 years ago during a gig -- ripped my nail off completely. Since then, I don't keep long nails any more.
I read your comment on the quilt video, "the minute you start doing it for money it becomes work, and work sucks" so thank you for the lessons! I guess a thumbs up will be your payment :P

most thorough dude, thanks for that explanation about coming in on the riff @ second bar after chords......but also the Gminor chord @ the bridge......great help
once you get the tuning just right, the song is really easy to play, i got it down in about ten minutes, i just went back to the original n wrote down how many times he plays each part and its a snap, thanks for another great zep song!!!
Really Great Lesson. I think you explain the chords and finger placement better than anyone I have seen on e-bay. Most people overexplain fret# which string... it kills the flow of the lesson. Extremely well done. Click on my name for my version of Stairway on my double neck.
@shjhdhah Jimmy's doing some of the fills that he used to do in the live versions (he's playing some of the string parts). If you listen to live Zeppelin bootlegs from 75-80, Jimmy would play some of those string/horn fills, particularly in the outro.
It's great fun to play the 3 dadgad songs as a suite. The challenge for me is singing and playing that ascending riff. The vocal and guitar time signatures are at cross purposes, so to speak. Very odd brain problem.

is it okay to hit the b string? on the one part?
nerad1994 6 months ago
@nerad1994 Which part? Time code?
privettricker 6 months ago
@privettricker nevermind i figured it out. great lesson btw
nerad1994 6 months ago
@privettricker I think nerad1994 is talking about that riff at 5:15?
evangelionale 4 months ago
@evangelionale In that case, yes, go ahead and hit the B string (which is tuned to A, so it's OK).
privettricker 4 months ago
There's always one part missing...THE OUTRO! How the hell do we play that :)
suburbia67 6 months ago
@suburbia67 The outro is the same chords as the "All I see turns to brown part" repeated over and over.
privettricker 6 months ago
@suburbia67 Take an example video of their concert in Knebworth. The riff they play from about 7:40 onwards. That's what I meant
suburbia67 6 months ago
@suburbia67 You mean that climb he does in the live versions?
privettricker 6 months ago
@privettricker YES! That's it!
suburbia67 6 months ago
@suburbia67 The climb is (and I'll just refer to the strings as they would be in standard tuning):
E string 5th fret
A string open / 1st fret / 3rd fret
D string open / 2nd fret / 3rd fret
G string open / 2nd fret / 4th fret and then ends on a chord of: A open / D string 7th fret / G string 6th fret / B string 7th fret
privettricker 6 months ago
@privettricker Thanks dude. But then how would you transcribe that in DADGAD? :/
