Add Underseat handlebars (not for steering just to holding on) and put outrigger small wheels on them so if you go over it only goes over so far. Just a thought. Interesting concept.
its looks to me that if you put a neck/head support on that bike it will have a lot less strain on ur body; and also some handles on the center bottom of the bike for better control. Just a thought.
A head support would be helpful, but handlebars just don't work well on this style of bike. You have to steer with your body and feet. You'll flop over relying on handlebars - it just takes some practice.
I am happy to see that I was not the only one who needed gloves to ride the Python. ;^)
Making the Python like this is really a quick and easy job, isn't it. Did you add a steering bar later? Am I correct to think your Python has a rear pedal brake?
I still don't ride my Python on the road. For me it is just a funbike to tease my pupils with. "Hey, who can ride 20 meters on this bike in a straight line?" Hihi, I never tell them I could only do it myself after some nights of intensive training.
It was my 1st welding project, so not too easy at the time ... I could knock it together a lot faster now.
Yep - rear pedal 3-speed hub. I plan to convert it at some point to a 1 speed (just need to find the appropriate kid's bike). I used the drive train for my son's long wheelbase recumbent (see my other vids).
It's more of a novelty that I ride with my kids in the parking lot so we can be at the same level.

looks fun but not so comfortable

Actually, once you learn to ride, it's much more comfortable than an upright. A little seat padding helps, too.

@preput it is very comfortable.

That is neat...did the kids ever get a go? ;o)
You could strap roller-skates to your hands....

Nah, they're still learning on their 'normal' bikes ... they just like to see their dad fall on his rear more than they do :)

love it

I do use gloves on any bike:)ALL TIME I RIDE.
If I crash-down, gloves safe my fingers, and I still be able to type on keyborad:))

Me, too ... not usually work gloves, but I almost always wear bike gloves. Road rash on your hands hurts!

I don't normally like recumbents much, but that is one cool bike dude!
