  • I love eternal iron^^

  • This song inspired me to re-enlist in the Army.

  • @NickDevXT This song inspired me to play Skyrim for another 4 hours or so. On balance though your story is probably better.

  • @Blashyrkh1993 Each to their own, loved Morrowind, Oblivion seemed like morrowind with better graphics, haven't played Skyrim yet. But yeah, very well done song nevertheless :)

  • Does anyone know other artists who make this kind of songs?

  • @rzr666nl Well Ensiferum's actually a metal band. But you might like Eluveitie, which is also metal and has even more influence of this sort of than Ensiferum. Suidakra is also good to listen to

  • @rzr666nl Eluveitie, Suidakra, Korpiklaani, Alestorm,....you know what, do a wikipedia search for 'folk metal bands'

  • @rzr666nl I highly recommend Moonsorrow (: Gives me the so called 'go on a epic quest' feeling ^^

  • This song makes my soul jump for joy.

  • does anyone know how to install the ferrum aeturnum mod cause i combine al parts and put in main medieval 2 total war directory but when i double click the FA bat file it comes up for a milisecond then disapears i realy nedd help cause i really wanna play it. thnx

  • ferrum means iron, sword is gladius or spatha(it depends on the type of sword)

so the title means eternal iron

subject closed.now listen to the music

  • or we can ask ensiferum... WHAT THE HELL MEANS THE NAME!?

  • @terminator572 Or google translate?

  • @dflpdbznw Google says it is 'Iron is the Eternal God'.

  • Who cares what's it called, just listen the Goddum Damnrum song!

  • This is epic.

  • We don't give a shit about the meaning of the song name, just listen and enjoy :3

  • Actually you're all wrong. Ferrum literally means 'midget'.

    Eternal Midget.

  • @Solstafirr i believe It literally means 'Iron', also, The chemical symbol for Iron is Fe, and 'Fe-rrum' means iron... The chances are though is that your just some dumbass troll.

  • Everytime I hear this awesome song I always think of those epic spaghetti westerns. Totally kicks ass.

  • Dear Ensiferum,

This song makes me feel like I'm setting out on an epic quest. I want to have this feeling more often. Thank you very much,

    ~Russ

  • Dear Ensiferum,

This song makes me feel like I'm setting out on an epic quest. I want to have this feeling more often. Thank you very much,

    ~Russ

  • "He who only lives in his past has given it too much importance."

"He who lives his present is naive, foolish and reckless."

"He who intends to live his future is bound to never enjoy it, for even when he does reach his goals, he will still be looking further into the horizon."

It is through acknowledging and learning from our past that we can carve our future through our present actions. Never forgetting to live, while remembering to look ahead every once in a while is healthy and wise.

  • I used to get stoned as hell and listen to this song and dream of ancient viking lands

  • All Hail Ensiferum!!! for all their mighty, awesome and beautiful songs!

  • ENSIFERUM RULES!!!! Someone knows when Ensiferum goes to Brazil?

  • Fucking epic and relaxing! Hail Ensiferum!!! \m/

  • folk metal rock !

  • fucking epic!!!!

  • whoa dudes, even on part 1:00 i'm headbanging, thats how epic good they are..

  • probably some of you have mistaken what does "ferum" in Ensiferum means, because it's not "ferrum"(iron), so it can be translated in "bearer".

    So

    Ferrum Aeternum = iron eternal

    Ensiferum = sword bearer

    Anyway, HEIL ENSIFERUM!!!

  • WHO CARES WHAT SPECIFIC KIND OF WEPON IT IS, IT KILLS THINGS DONT IT, THEN ITS GOOD.

  • i love the fuckin music of Ensiferum

  • @CompactSilence pertaining to iron, it is called ferric or the like i do believe.(sp?)

  • I think "Ferrum Aeternum" means" Metal forever!

  • Ferrum means iron or any tool made from iron, i.e a sword. Aeternum means, to eternity; forever. So the name is Eternal Sword/Iron. I just thought i'd carry this on lol.

  • beautful beautiful instrumental <3

  • wow!\m/

  • Great song. I listen to this while I'm playing Red Dead Redemption. Fits the game perfectly.

  • yeeehaaaa!! >_<

  • Eternal sword sounds stupid.. And since this song is on their album "Iron" they must have meant "Eternal Iron".

  • Epic!

  • what a lovely song, 1 of the best from them.

  • just came my pants!!!!!!!!!

  • Unbeschreiblich schön...

  • Okay seriously. I hate it when people fight on videos. Who gives a fuck what beliefs other people have? its a song, and amazing one at that, so how about you all stop acting like children and just enjoy this masterpiece this band has given us. if you are just here to bitch and complain then gtfo.

  • This song reminds of the game Golden Sun. Two masterpieces!!

  • ferrum means iron and sword the same time

latin is a hard language cause there are 5 words that have the same meaning

    aeter = eternal

    aeterNUM= iron

  • aeternum= eternal

    ferrum = iron or sword

so ferrum aeternum means eternal iron

    \m/ ensiferum is best!

  • @CSCStalker I disagree, at first I found latin hard, but have you ever tried ancient greek? That's hard...

  • it's always a bummer - and a bit sad - when people start to fight about philosophy/belief when there is clearly good music to be heard. :[

  • @drmcteabag I agree with you to a certain extent,if someone tried to convert me to their religion or something i would stand up for myself and not let them get the better of me.but because i am an atheist if i am willing to fight for my religious rights i must know where other people's religions stand so i can defend mine.

  • Ich muss mich jedesmahl zusammenreisen nicht zu weinen

    es ist so schön !!!!!

  • I have an idea. Let's all guess what the song name means, based on the fact Ensiferum means swordbearer, and this song is on the Iron album...

Short of that, we could just use a Latin translator:

    It means "The Eternal Sword"..

    Who could've guessed? XD

  • Not you, cuz it means "Eternal Iron" :)

  • @joaoftl

Well, not exactly. It means any Iron object.

It could be a hammer, an anvil, an axe, a horseshoe, a helm, even a stove.

But Ferrum is the word which is usually used to describe a sword.

But yeah, literally translated, it means The Enternal Iron.

  • @Suckedintooblivion

    Eternal*

  • @joaoftl

where did u got this from?

it can mean "sword" or "iron" - depending on the context

  • @joaoftl Ferrum means Iron AND Sword. So shut your wrecked mouth Mr. Know-It-All

  • @joaoftl Ferrum means "Iron/Weapon made of iron" and I think Sword is a better translation here.

  • @joaoftl but in latin iron and sword are the same word, so he's right, too ;)

  • @CompactSilence alright.. u're prolly the 100th person to tell me that. As far as I know, the latin word for sword is "gladius". whatever, i dont care

  • @joaoftl gladius is 60 cm, ferrum it's like 1m , sorry for my owfol english, I'm italian and I study latin and greek, so ferrum it's the latin of xsiphos (sword)

  • @joaoftl

the gladius was a TYPE of sword.

  • @SirArksisVonDraken gladius is the type of sword, but when i took latin, the word meant that as well as just sword interchangeably. and was even used to name the person holding the sword. i think. it seems a bit useless to argue over a dead language, though. i think Ensiferum's consent would be needed to resolve the meaning with such ambiguous words.

that's them latin folk for you!

  • @joaoftl I'm pretty sure the gladius is a specific style of sword, such as those that the centuries were equipped with. Also, the word gladiator comes from this weapon.

  • Noun

ferrum (genitive ferrī); n, second declension 1. iron 2. Any tool made of iron. 3. sword Urbi ferrum flammamque minitatus est. He threatened the city with fire and sword. Ferro incumbere. To fall on his sword.

    Fucking rtard.

  • @joaoftl gladius is a longsword, for the romans, we'd see a gladius as a shortsword, almost a dagger...

"Ferrum" is both the poetic form and the general term for "sword".

it's like we say "a car"... which engulfs a lot of brands and kinds :)

else "Ensiferum" would mean "ironbearer"... :D

  • @joaoftl Gladius is only a type of the sword.. not the sword...

  • @joaoftl Ferrum is literally 'iron' but it's used for 'sword' to.

  • @joaoftl

Well Ferrum is Iron, it's just that some dictionaries put Ferrum as both (online dictionaries lol)

  • @joaoftl so latin can't have synonyms?

  • @joaoftl That's why Iron is "Fe" on the periodic table ;)

  • @joaoftl

I think "Ferrum Aeternum" means Iron for eternity... (its latin)

no matter what you make of it....

If it is a sword or a plow, it doesnt matter.

  • @joaoftl LoL. In Latin a word has many definitions. And a latin word lots of meanings. Telum= arrow,pole,dagger... I'm italian and in mediaval stories we can find "ferro" as sword...like the expression "Alzare il ferro"

  • @xKurokawax Telum means a spear you throw omfg.

  • @Pellinore1990 Hei, I study Latin at school!from the dictionary: Telum:1: spray waepon, dart, arrow, javelin 2: any offensive weapon, sword, "dagger" 3: in boxing "cesto" 4: rays (of sun) ,horn, weapons=bolts, "membro virile" (dunno how to translate) 5:weapon,midst and blow. As you can see lots of meanings.... :/

ferrum: 1 Iron ,fig. insensibility, cruelty. 2:" SWORD", dagger, pole, bolt, ax. generical iron weapon; plow ploughshares, ax .....ecc....

  • @joaoftl Idiots

  • @joaoftl ure right ure right

im portuguese, our language comes from latin, and we say 'ferro' as 'ferrum'. it just means Iron

  • You are wrong. Sword = gladius, Iron = ferrum!

  • @CompactSilence HUAH? I think Ferrum Aeternum = Iron is the eternal god? (Google Translator)

  • @CompactSilence

I think since the album is called " Iron " , the implied meaning is in fact iron.

  • @joaoftl Noun

ferrum (genitive ferrī); n, second declension 1. iron 2. Any tool made of iron. 3. sword Urbi ferrum flammamque minitatus est. He threatened the city with fire and sword. Ferro incumbere. To fall on his sword.

  • @joaoftl Ferrum can both mean 'iron' and '(iron) sword'. In this case, sword would be the more logical translation is 'sword'. So yeah.. he's right.

  • Hic carmen est divinus.

  • @Suckedintooblivion look up a mendeleev's table not a latin translator ;D

  • Ensiferum, salute!. Beautiful song.

  • @spectralancer, there is few similar songs, for example ad victoriam and by the diving stream

@alannahmuriel, the album which this song is in is called "Iron", so the ferrum shall be translated as iron, meaning that the title of this song is: "The eternal iron" :D

  • Ensiferum is Latin for "Sword Bearing," so it would make more sense to infer that it means "The Eternal Sword," would it not? But then again I could be wrong.

  • @XCantXEscapeXFateX

It does mean The Eternal Sword :P

  • latin and illyric language are pretty similar languages mate , however i might be wrong about the way how i translated ferrum aeternum but it makes sense and i was pretty sure that i was right until i found out that "ensiferum" means swordbearer so yeah it is eternal sword then /cheers !

  • Comment removed

  • @xfeelthepain

Mate, it's Latin. I think you'll find it's "The Eternal Sword" Or even The Eternal Iron.

  • How many other Ensiferum instrumentals like this and Ad Victoriam are there?

  • Kalevala-melody. I don't know any other song like this.

  • victory song,lai lai hei.thats all i know.

  • Ensiferum 4 ever ^^

  • I like it . It kind of reminds me of Native American music.

  • beautiful. epic. ensiferum. <3

  • What does Ferrum Aeternum mean, exactly?

  • @kirbyyoshi10

Well, ferrum means iron and aeternum means eternal so the proper translation would be Eternal Iron, but I could be wrong.

  • kirby its Latin for Eternal Sword

  • @Dt0x75

Really? I guess we learn something new every day. Thanks.

  • yea... I had to use a translator, lol...but it came out as Sword Eternal.

  • Ah. I like the meaning of Ensiferum, "Sword Bearing" or something. Thats awesome :)

  • Yea awesome band too...I nvr heard Ensiferum until last year, and the way they blend pagan folk, and metal is amazing. Better then any other band of the like.

  • "ferrum" is latin and means "iron", but you can also translate it as "sword" ;)

  • true, but it depends on the context its used under. ^_^

  • eternal iron

  • I'm half frisian^^, that doesnt make make a batavian, since they dissapeared from history, after Hengist and Horsa, but that makes me quite close of the next folk who went living there => anglo-saxons/vikings.

  • DA-DADADA DA-DADADA!!!!!!!!!!

  • Epic!

  • That music is awesome. When I listen this music i'll be free and I in the mystic world of my dreamland.

  • LOL what the fuck, get a job.

  • so beautiful !

  • wonderful song

  • am sorry that i say this, but that makes no sence. you can always be happy by livin' and do your thing

  • fins

  • Ah well the Dutch have Michiel de Ruyter and his battles. Has to count for something :)

  • Bestevaer! Remember Chatham boys? Haha

  • i have to admit that the germans are not the greatest but they are still far better than the french the only thing strong about them is their Breath.

and yes although the Vikings settles in britain your best chance for viking blood is in the Irish unfortunatly as it was the Vikings who founded Dublin i would love to trace back my bloodline but im sure it would be a bitter dissappointment i get used to it though being English, what a sorry bunch we are.

  • as a whole that is of course there are a few of us that stand out form the crowed of moronic fools known as the brittish one day i will rise and leave them to rot in their own filth.

  • what do you have againt the british?

  • vikings settled alot of towns in the south of england, so infact you could easily be a descendant from us danes or norwegians :)

  • eben nicht

  • what's wrong with das Germans?!?!

  • Heheh. On the subject of heritage, I'm 100% British, but I love Viking history, lore and mythology.

It has led me to make my own Viking Metal band, study Old Norse history & literature and learn 6 Scandinavian languages. :-)

  • I love vikings too. I'm swedish.

  • Svensk? Bara bra. :D

    Sverige för den vinna. :P

  • I mean Mycket bra :P

Förlåt, min Svensk är skit. :P

  • LOL, that's cool, nice try

  • Depending on how well you know your heritage, it's still possible to have "viking blood" in your veins as Vikings settled on the British Isles.

  • Indeed, they did.

However, I think my family are closer to being celtic, rather than Nordic. XD

    Fucking Celts. :P

  • This one's good but I prefer AD Victoriam better especially when it goes into Blood is 4 the price of glory.

  • as far as i'm concerned, us poms don't have any heritage XD

  • Lol.. Guess you dont read

  • What for having a great heritage if your Country's present sucks???

    Greeting from Italy

btw this song is incredible.. I remember listening to it while crossing the woods between Italy and Austria.. epic!

  • germany is NOT ONLY AUSCHWITZ!!!!!!!!

  • wow everyone just shut the fuck up and enjoy Ensiferum!

  • I wish I could give your comment more than one thumbs-up, dreadss64. :)

  • thank you :)

  • i think thats discimination.. to be ovious i think u hate the old traditions.

  • and ur spammed to..

so who's right here.. our old legion.. or only you that trys to blame the saxons for being rasists.

well.. explanes alot there mate :P

  • ensiferum is some of the most inspiring music that ive come upon theyre simply musical genies

more Greetings from the lucious denmark

  • Makes you want to drink a strong one and grab your axe, huh.

  • Absolutely great!

    Greetings from Denmark

  • shut the f*ck up mate ;)

what do you know about history??

NOTHING SO SHUT THE HELL UP ;)

here we meet again.. at falkenbach. and now here. and i owned your ass before..

you should think before you speak. and learn your history very very good and learn about the term racism. if you think your right.. noway, that also explanes the thumbs down here bro.. and i didn't put them down..

  • uhh dude..

i understand. i just want u to know that i have old traditions and i do not live in the past. i have a guitar and drums and computer and i just live in the future. but i respect my ancestors and here in holland we have old traditions like Easter fires, 21December is the day of Odins wild hunt and also midwinterfest. so there are fires to & joy and happiness to welkom the winter.

but i think your more disrespecting our cultures, ancestors, religion and try to blame us for being racists

  • Dude, really, I think the one whose hatred is revealed in the comments on almost every Ensiferum video is you, not us. As Metalgod was saying: respecting one's history and ancestors should not be blamed as racist. It's like saying that all our parents and grandparents were a bunch of racists. So please stop spreading your hatred ; either enjoy the music or don't waste your breath any longer...

  • agreed brother ;)

  • So you're saying that we should only look to the future and forget the past?

A person who only lives in the past is stupid...

A person who only lives in the present is stupid...

A person who only lives in the future is stupid...

... but a person who lives both in past, present and future is a wise person. When we remember our past we learn from our mistakes. When we live in the present we learn to enjoy our lives. When we think about the future we can avoid making severe mistakes.

  • If we forget to think about one of those three periods we could take a wrong turn in our lives and forgetting one or two of those things is a sign of stupidity. And do you know what else is a sign of stupidity? Dealing in absolute! You want people to stop hating blacks, well I want that too. But you're also saying that all Vikings and Saxons were bad and violent. Isn't that racism as well? If you want others to stop hating, you must stop hating as well, otherwise you only humiliate yourself.

  • You should write a book dude! haha. that is all so very true

  • You can't say someone is stupid if he "lives" in only past, present or future because that's the fucking retarded and stupidest philosophy I've ever heard. Those are the basic standards of human thinking. We all live now and practically live "present" as you say. And there's no but. Human who can't comprehend literally that all things he will do is needed to be done now, is going to be in big trouble and he/she's gonna waste his life.

  • This was supposed to more of an opinion than philosophy and I don't think you perfectly understood what I said.

  • @guitargod7890

you just can't handel the truth, cause you say that is stupid nd retarded, well if you think that you are it yourself, so don't be the "big boy" by saying that. if you can't handel this well then i've one thing to say: go listen to that rap shit, there can you be the "big boy" here we are just like a metal family..

  • @soanoen :D "we are just like a metal family" i dont categorize myself in any of those groups that you are. usually niggers refer to family by calling eachother a bro or am i wrong? So you are not satisfied with the fact that i think that ppl are stupid if they are believing in things which I think are stupid or what makes them idiots? Well that's the thing we all do and the very same thing that made you write your absolutely Idiot comment.

  • never forget the past, who you were, the person u were. if u didnt drink in the past, dont drink in the present. stay true to all what u were in the past. thats how u can have a good future.

  • that's the biggest bull shit I've ever read. u must be a fuckin moron

  • im a moron? how ignorant can people get, it amazes me every day...

  • fuckin trueness leads to nothing but logged knowlegde. Fuck your beliefs, question them and do change when you find something is not right or meaningless. That bull shit u wrote up is the same shit in which religion is founded = major ignorance. And I'm sure that, from all that I said, you'll stick to my "rudeness". Why would I care? Suit urself
