I love this scene. I've watched this movie countless times and am really understanding what it really means.
It's fighting a battle within yourself- all the things beauiful- everything you know, can turn on you at any moment. There's a war churning within your mind and you have this feeling you and your loved ones will be harmed, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
At the beginning of the scene, the reason he is drawing an apple is to represent Apple Corps Records, the store the Beatles owned and sold their records at.
The Song and the smashing of the strawberries was supposed to symbolize how America is smashing apart the young and youthful of their population in the vietnam war. I mean... more than 100 died everyday. I LOVE how they did this song and their success with showing what it's really about.
I personally don't like how they did this scene. There's no climax. It's just Jude stomping on strawberries, and Max running. There's way too much emphasis on the literal strawberry.
I love their singing. But the writters missed the [Beatles'] point of the song, in my opinion.
I understand his frustration... drawers block, although I would've done a better job at telling Lucy and that guy off. I like this version of Strawberry Fields.
john and paul only wrote like four songs together, they never got along creatively. all songs written by john and paul were written seperately who told u they wrote songs together?
cool movie, but i don't get what any of this has anything to do with the beatles
this all seems more like john lennon's perspective, like peace and anti-war and stuff, maybe they could've had some indian culture in the movie, george harrison was all about that, or what about what paul or ringo thought?
in the extras on the dvd they said they werent tryin to Show the Beatles message they were trying to do a Romeo n Juliet type story based in the Sixties with Beatles music and I think they pulled it off.
still gettin thumbs down huh? lol dont get mad at me cuz yall rather sit here and argue instead of enjoy a good movie. instead of givin me a thumbs down be grown and say wat u got 2 say
You have to admit it is sad that the Beatles' lyrics were taking in such a literal sense in this movie. That isn't a comparison. It really is odd to see the music played out in a literal intepretation.
The reason the strawberries appeared in this scene were to do with Jude's job designing a logo for Strawberry Records (Sadie's label), clearly named for an easy segway into this song.
they dont really get into why theres tension between them until later when they're washing clothes but basically Lucy is obsessed with protesting against the war and Jude is jealous that shes spending all her time with that protestor guy
well, strawberry fields also refers to the prick spots from where drug addicts injected (heroin, etc.) Skeptics believe that the meaning of this song was originally based in the drugs. I disagree, however. What is your take?
you don't know shit, why don't you just ask them? Oh but half of them are dead, so you're out of luck and no, don't say they died because of drug usage - John Lennon died in NY because in 1980, Mark David Chapman shot him in the back four times and George Harrison died of cancer in 2001. Meanwhile, Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr are still alive and you could ask thm - but i doubt that they would want to talk to you after what you just said about them.

My favorite scene in this whole movie! I love it, and as much as I hate to admit it, "strawbetty feilds" and "Revolution" are actually the songs I can most relate too. Because I tend to think like that. But I just love him. I hate lucy, because she's the one who ruins thier relationship, and if it wern't for her, he'd never have had to go back to liverpool. when it switches singers, i think it's representing the duel realities of the song.
On one side, Lucy loves jude,
but on the other she needs to get her brother out of vietnam.
you can see the duel realities better in the beatles song, where the bass drum gets really heeeavvy.
love this song.
