So much better than the awful one the Academy Awards presented! To leave out Farrah, Bea Arthur, Henry Gibson, and Ron Silver (and many more, too) was just unconscionable!
Craig, I think that the organizers wanted to renew the Oscars ceremony because of the loss of viewers in recent years had become unstoppable. But they forgot that the memory must be protected!!!!
Its was a big MISTAKE not to have given the Honorary Academy Award during the evening!! Traditions must be preserved!!!!
One can not reduce everything to speed up the evening.
I'm on my way out the door for work, Baby Boy...and you have me in tears already half way thru this TERRIFIC and touching video tribute to so many beloved stars!
My God, BRAVO!
Off with the heads of the Academy for forgetting.
Will view again when I get home and make a special place for this lovely piece of work.
sadly, you have someone to start your 2010 tribute - andrew koenig :(
this vid really made me think about how short life can be...and that I'll never be in one of these...not because I wont die, but because I'm not important enough...weird huh? c'est la vie ;)
I just came upon this tonight - as so many others have said, this is truly a wonderful tribute to so many lives well-lived. Thank you!
One additional footnote - I see this was originally posted on December 21. On December 24 we lost one of the great comedic characters of the 50s - my former neighbor, Arnold Stang. Only the oldsters will remember his signature line - "Chunky, what a chunk 'a chocolate!"
Henry Gibson! I never knew he died. He was great. R.I.P.
and Ron Silver! oh my...
actually I am a tad overwhelmed by the amount of faces popping up that I recognise and admire. And there are so many young faces.
It kinda feels like the recent past is not so recent anymore. The cornerstone images from my past, a myriad of recognisable faces/lives which defined a period in their own little way, are starting to fade away.
this is amazingly moving & beautiful & respectful...it made me cry...and I hate it...BECAUSE it made me cry... and remember all we lost...the famous & obscure...the loved & the relatively unknown (how do you know Al Alberts???) it was a terrible year for losing those we knew - even if only vicariously...
you are excellent at making these moving remembrances, craig, choosing the right music and the right clips to make us all remember the best these people gave us...I hope 2009 is less cruel
lol..thanks buddy, honestly I had never heard of Al Alberts before I did this, but they had a write uo on him on the Entertainment Weekly website, so I added him..there are a couple recent people I missed like Vic Chesnutt and Connie Hines from "Mr. Ed" but oh well can't get everyone....btw Charlie Chaplin wrote "Smile' and I knew that without looking ..lol
Very sad to watch. Your year-end tributes are among your very best films, so it is with this one. Lotta work in there, sir. Very comprehensive and touching and a far, far cry better than we'll see at the Oscars, no doubt. 5 stars and favorited.
I loved the Dom Deluise clip. I was also a fan of Karl Malden, James Whitmore, and David Carradine. Budd Schulberg sounds so familiar and I just found out he wrote the screenplay for one of my favorite movies On The Waterfront. Great video! 5 stars and favorited!
This video is important as a testimony of characters more or less popular! Is nice year-end review the faces of those artists who have left us. Great memory! Thank you for this tribute!!
This is a really beautiful video. I'm sad to say I wasn't even aware that most of them had passed away. So many affected my life in different ways. You're choice of music was exceptional. Thanks so much for this.

I've just loved your video. I received it from a friend who also made a video tribute for the loved ones of 2009.
(I don't know exactly who are the celebrities in his video but it seemed to me that they are others).
How many people to miss. 5 stars.
