  • Wow, the idiocy in these comments is literally painful.

  • People who have never worked on a video game before need to stop commenting and talking trash, you obviously have no Idea how much work you have to.

  • i wish you could creat a dam or 2 ground hight as the higher one fill of water and the lower one is dry on farcry2

  • the water looks bad but its a big step ahead for games

  • @sapachino check out Hydrophobia... Shitload of cutscenes before you see water, but it's worth to.

  • Minecraft got better water

    XD

  • Retards, this guy is one of the developer of Crysis 2. He actually got hired after Crytek saw his talents on Crymod.com

  • thumb down the haters.

  • ......Stop you Console gamers who have no idea what you're talking about...

This engine is 6 years old....

What he did was Staple Effects to moving Particles to SIMULATE water.....

You have no idea how much physical power it would take to render the over 10,000,000 individual water particles needed to similarly mirror this Demo.

  • @EliteMon1995 Yeah i do and i love PC gaming. But, one quick fact for you. Why the in the fuck is it hard to render if it doesn't look good, and if it is hard to render and it doesn't look good then whats the fucking point of it retard.

  • Sandbox rlz

  • nice textures ya got there

  • pretty good, but WAY WAY to bouncy or something

  • You guys realize... this was like HOLY SHIT MAN SUPER AMAZING graphics about 6 years ago.

  • Far Cry....good game :)

  • @karabin0792 true...true...

  • Appreciate the efforts done here as I know this took alotta time to do.

  • HOW REALISTIC IS THIS! LOOK A T THE LIFE-LIKE APPEARANCE OF THE FOG-- ERR WATER I MEAN!

  • @FRURMELLL shut up console gamer

  • BIG SHIT

  • @TheGamerFrank 'This ain't shit. this engine is over 6 years old.

  • crap, why bother?!

  • This is real time??!

    Holy crap.

  • Guys, these water effects are amazing for the games time, you have to admit.

  • I love Crysis , L love Far cry !

  • how u make the water come from there?

  • To the people complaining about the water, you can see/imagine the forces of water on the various objects and models as they fall and slide down the mountain as if they're on water. The white puffs can be the graphical limitations of the game itself, had the game have realistic water (PhysX maybe, or just actual water) the realistic water effects would be a lot more appearant.

  • Dude, this is awesome... because no one else has ever done it..

  • angry cloud physics

  • Nothing can't beat PhysX

  • @ernis1100 cpu and gpu are not the same thing. lol idiot.

  • This isnt water physics... All it is is retextured props (Or props that are welded somehow together) to look like water, then it falls down a hill -.-

  • awesom (this comment is not spam)

  • This is fog not water.

  • LMAO!!!

  • Sperm race ? xD the vid sux ^^

  • HI, Im getting a new PC for gameing. If I get the 64 bit, Im I going to have a problem playing any new games? Such as Modran warfare 2, Just cause 2, far Cry 2 etc. This is what Im buying..Intel i7 980x overclocked to 4.2 6Gb Kingston HyperX (2) Graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5970 PCI-E 16X 2GB GDDR5 Video Card. Please let me know thanx.

  • @uphill248 Are you fuckin retarded?

  • @Loche1337 why dont you Ask your mom.

  • @uphill248 No thanks ;)

  • @uphill248 lol you. first off who sells overclocked gpu. stop trying to make yourself look cool by posting up hax specs.

  • @ernis1100 gpu? what the fuck, processer dumfuck.

  • @uphill248 First off. SPELLING. thanks. i can barely understand you, i have to go to translate google.com and translate your comment from hebrew (jew). 2nd. it doesnt matter cpu or gpu the same thing.

  • @ernis1100 When your in google.com look up dumfuck, right under the word you'll see your picture there.OOH AND THANX HEHEHE

  • @uphill248 /facepalm. Idiot.

DumbFuck - term that derives from two words Dumb and Fuck do i need to say more?

  • Comment removed

  • @ernis1100 hax specs? dude you dont know shit. what part of it was hax specs?

  • this is very realistic

  • Ho The FUCK lag's in Farcry ? a fucking 2000 computer could run i -.-

  • it's physics alright. Basically, what the guy did was replace an oject by a texture. It has a sphere collision, and so it rolls downcliff.

It's just not the same as you would make in DX10. Lol. Never the same.

  • just because its not very graphical dosent mean its "shit" good job for whoever did this

  • this isn't even close to physics, just moving images/sprites...

  • @fChage Yeah agree, but moving sprites can also be physics :)

This is just very simple physics with a very small amount of particles!

  • What the fuck? A load of falling textures with simple collision solid blobs plus massive lag?

    T H I S I S B I G S H I T

    indeed

  • @nefets99 Note that you are wrong and are an idiot yourself.

  • i misworded that, i meant first person shooter with physics, the game is nearly seven years old

  • @nefets99

    Lol, no.

It uses the old CryEngine, the best graphical engine ever made. He turned off fluid water and TADAA! FALLING TEXTURES! WOW THIS GAME IS THE BEAZT!!1!

  • @RickTheStickman2 the old cry engine...what was the first game that used cryengine 1? FAR CRY. my arguement was that this was one of the first fps games ever to use physics at all, nevermind water physics

if i remember right far cry was released in 04

  • No, it's not, you fool. MARATHON was more like "one of the first fps games ever in history."

  • read below dumbass

  • Yeah, sorry. I read below RIGHT AFTer I posted that comment. Sorry, man.

  • its cool

  • ibm 386

    dx

    maybe

  • IBM 386 ftw!

  • thats just a load of moving sprites?

  • It looks like mist than water. -.- i see no "physics" in that of what i just saw.

  • its a video game it crnt be perfect!!!

  • FAR CRY 2 IS DA BEST!

  • WOOOOOOW

  • why dont you dumbfucks reserve your comments. its quite obvious ur all a bunch of consumers who havent the first clue what it would take to create real time "Waves"

  • Was it supposed to look like this?

  • yea it does look like a avalanche definitely does not look like water!!!!

  • Looks more like an avalanche.

  • That is very unrealistic if it was meant to look like water.

If it was meant to look like several infenitly thin walls of steam behind each other i would belive it...

  • dudes i'm sorry but farcry 1 owns more in special effects than far cry 2. I bet you can't let the water do this in far cry 2...

  • probably because its a different game engine. cryteck and dunia are very different

  • it is a different game engine but the dunia engine is based off the cry engine 2 (crysis)

  • the Dunia engine has absolutely nothing to do with CryEngine 2, what are you talking about Chevezez?

  • @illmagnified sry i got it mixed up, its based on the cry engine 1

  • no its not based on CryEngine 1 either, Dunia Engine is a stand alone engine that Ubisoft built specifically for FarCry 2 and on the PC the DUNIA engine can really crank.

  • @illmagnified yes it is lol

  • Look it up chevezez- the Dunia Engine is a stand alone engine built specifically for FarCry 2, it has nothing to do with Cry Engine 1 used for the original Far Cry.

  • Actually Dunia is a heavily modified version of the CryEngine, which Ubisoft bought from Crytek alongside the Far Cry series.

  • I'm sorry but this isn't water physics. The water is just plain static.

  • yall gotta chill, farcry is quite an old game, this is close to the best that they could get at that time

  • the graphic is like bullshit!

    whats good at this video?

    the water looks like nothing!

    lol

  • its far cry its an old game ôÔ and for that it has very good water physics

  • Hmm in the year 2009 this doesn't look good

  • horrible

  • you can't beat this :P

  • Worst looking and slowest water engine i've seen xD

  • What is the best water engine ther is that you have seen?

  • Trinigys water physics used by Arcania (gothic 4), water could rain and mount up in an area to cause ponds, flow down trees and so on. Water physics we're amazing.

  • storm engine 2

  • that dont look like water!!! that graphics sucks!

  • ITS Farcry 1 , not farcry 2 noob

  • Bitches don't know about my PhysX

  • lol, epic meme :D

  • UR physx?

  • Ya guys its farcry 1

    Why did he et downvoted?

  • . . . Yeah. Far cry 1 is easy to mod and this guy has a good skill. No one can do water physics in real time yet. (From what i know)

  • Well... on the average home pc it's only possible to do small 3d water physics simulations. 2d water physics can be done in realtime easily though. The problem is the equations used for water (the navier-stokes equations), which are in short, very complicated.

  • ? kewl lol

  • good job ^^

    nice simulation

  • Some class a asshole :p

I think it's great there are mods like this, and people who actually understand how hard it is to implement water physics into a video game.

  • Yo I threw some textures down a mountain check it

  • Where's the water? All I see is puffs of white crap.

  • its farcry, its pretty old so its not going to show the water.

  • If the game is old, that doesn't mean that its not possible to run it in modern hardware.

  • i never said it couldn't run on modern hardware all i did is said is that its not going to show water because it is so old it doesn't have dynamic water

  • Thats because it is just a bunch of weird textured particles. To do better fluid dynamics and still have graphics and CPU resources for an actual game you would need dedicated physics hardware, which people did not want which is evident by PhysX demise. Now we can get crappy, scaled down, non interfering physics on a second graphics card.

Maybe in 10-15 years CPUs have catched up enough to get us better physics.

  • @Xanadu1115 Best comment I ever saw :)

  • @Xanadu1115 This is a really old game.

  • @Xanadu1115 "Well after trawling the net it appears water physics is hard to come by. Even in really crude forms (like this one...) it can be exceptionally fun!" I quote "Even in really crude forms (like this one...)"

  • @Xanadu1115

thats the same way how cryengine does it, but it just renders maor of them

  • @Xanadu1115 keep in mind realtime water is something hard to do...

  • @GzeroArchives it's not really water it's just a bunch of particles.

  • that is some garbage liquid. look up blender or 3dmax

  • this is done in realtime ofcourse it looks worse than blender or 3dsmax

  • there are better realtime water sims today

  • you calling this bad :P

  • wow i cant really tell if its the game im watching or real stuff :O

  • What is happening upstairs?

  • i can barely tell this isn't reality

  • rofl

  • Lol XD

  • lol :D

  • would be great to see some humans added who get pulled down the hill by the water too :)

  • Far cry is an amazing game. if you look what graphics it has, for an game that came out in 2003? 2004?

  • It aint that real.... 3ds max 9 with realflow 4.. Now that's cool

  • Man- FarCry was the MOST advanced Next Gen title and surprised the pants off of all of us when it was released. Everyone expected Halflife 2 and Doom 3 to be great, but Far Cry? Then it was released and God sent us an additional Big Player in the the Gaming World. Thank you Crytek for Crysis and FarCry! This type of technology was unheard of back when it was released. Think about it, back in 02 we were still playing games with low res textures and Real Time lighting was only a dream, until Crytek

  • yes, Crytek doesn't look at optimazation/system specs, they just make the best possible. wich is good for game development and hardware development, because the game needs higher performance.... if u understand any word of what im saying :)

  • No Crytek does look to Optimizations, but you are right with them building there engines with the top hardware spec in mind, i mean they had both Nvidia and Intel help in creating there engine so it would be optimized for their specific hardware, thats why Crysis flies on quad core systems because it utilizes all 4 cores. Crytek likes to create engines that are years ahead of its time, They did it with CryEngine 1 and sure as hell did it with CryEngine 2.

  • man I played this game in 2002 and I revered everything about it

  • Hell ya Raziel2407, this game was amazzzzing and still is one of my favorites. I remember building a new computer For the coming of Half Life 2, then Far Cry was born and pushed my then top of the line computer (Amd Athlon FX-53, ATI 9800Pro, 4Gb Ram, 160GB Hard Drive) to the limits. One of the only titles that truly immersed me into the gaming world, i really thought i was on that tropical island when i smoked a blunt and played it, awsome game.

  • boo!

  • this ant far cry 2

  • It's Far Cry one though.

  • lmao

  • Obviously it's a joke, showing how far games have came in the last 3 years.

    Steve.

  • no shiet... thats amaizing ;))) hehehe

  • wow ur sad

  • This Sucks

  • this is just textured planes phyisically running around... this is not so innovative..

  • I agree with ir0nR0ses

  • oohh so realistic

  • what the hell? it looks like a bunch of smoke sprites mobbing a few props. water my buttock.

  • Physics interaction is quite good, considering the time this game was made.

  • You stupid idiot's this is only example that shows the realtime water physics!!!

  • Thts horrible

  • Yeah, it's a far cry from reality, that's for sure.

  • looks more like a freon spill to me

  • That's FarCry or Crysis ? I know they both use CryTek but i wanna know :D

  • This vid is of FarCry's Cryengine 1

  • run to the hills!! erm... better not

  • Ah. Thank god for Crysis :D

  • i virtually wet myself with how awesome that was ...

It is actually quite good btw :p

  • ok... so where's the water? O.o

  • you call this good Water Physics ? :s you need better games

  • possible on the xbox 360 version?

  • Technically yes (The hardware may struggle though, PS3 and 360 are fairly weak, they have little in the way of number crunching power.)

Currently it is impossible to implement without a whole new game being made.

  • LOL, you think that the 360 and ps3 would have trouble handling THIS?! PC gamers think the consoles are weak compared to there "big rigs". The Cell is more powerful than any processor in a commercial computer, including quad cores. Number crunching power is what the PS3 DOES have, if anything needs improving its the graphics card. But we'll see.

  • The PS3 is theoretically the most powerful.

Unfortunately they didn't think about how much extra work devs would have to put in to create games with 8 threads. It could take years, and cause real performance issues. So yes I agree with you, the PS3 has the power. And I suppose you have the time to code the games don't you? lol.

The 360 could not handle the physics the CPU is weaker, the GPU is its main asset (equivalent to a 7800GTX )

  • this game is really old lol

  • had kickass graphics for its time it was a gamers paradise in its glory days cant wait for the new one were you can start fires and have to fix your guns

  • yeah i know i sometimes till play lol yeah the next one is gonna be revolutionary

  • oh ya!!!

  • water looks pretty crappy, but its an ineresting idea

  • the water is composed of 2d particles i think...

  • good idea i'll try this in hammer some time for hl2

  • yeh
