Jackie is correct, the convenience of paper makes it preferential - and if you want to keep a story as evidence you can cut it out, or keep as a book.

The paper industry keeps forests growing and trees take in pollution from the air. The CO2 taken in by trees stays in the wood or paper. Jackie is talking about people of his generation, and he is correct that very few of them use their computer if they buy one (cos they see an advert extolling its values on QVC)

I agree with you but it needs to be said that the real issue happens to simply be location. For example, in the bay area, newyork, chicago, etc you don't talk to strangers because of the reasons mentioned. In other places like portland, or seattle where crime is much lower, people have firearms, people tend to actually talk and help out stranger. Im sure there are many small towns that are the same way thoughout the US. Please just consider this before commenting.

theres a diffrence between a computer and the internet- meeting people can only be done via the internet NOT by a computer alone.

the main purpose of a computer is conveniance- saves students time when writing essays, creates systems to calculate payments for businesses etc.

The internet is the ultimate freedom of information. Unlike the media which is all cencsored and the newspapers laoded with properganda- the internet is far less biased.

Fantastic - my dad once got a computer for himself as a tax write off for his business years ago - it was the biggest paper weight on his desk :) He had all the small business software he needed on it too - never used it, and stuck to pen and paper.

Still, i love the things - (it's my bread and butter, actually), and now that the internet has taken off the way that it has, the MSM no longer has a monopoly - which means i get to watch Jackie Mason whenever i want :)

As for newspapers - filthy things, hate getting my hands covered in ink. I use an old monochrome palm pilot (which is easy on the eye) to read little green footballs and other blogs on the train. That electronic ink stuff is looking pretty cool too, but i haven't seen one of those in the flesh yet...

We all know computers are a great invention & are very useful sometimes but they go wrong so often, no other electrical item malfunctions so much! I hope the futures not too much like star trek where everyones so reliant on computers...what chaotic world it will be!

I was told a while back by an idiot to throw away all my volumes of expensive books because computers have replaced them! Books are easier on the eye than the tiring glare of the electronic screen & therefore nicer to read & I don't see any bookstores closing down because of technology.

Jackie, I use YouTube to try to get hits to sell my records on iTunes. (So far that theory hasn't worked.) Steve Jobs idea of a computer is for it to be fun, easy and an appliance, like a toaster or phone. Any website dealing with interaction will addict some people. And, by the way, I take my BlackBerry to the toilette and check email, which explains my crappy answers. Great vid, love your stuff, if you're EVER in Texas I want to see you do a show AND I'll buy you a Mexican dinner (Kosher.)

my dad is 70 and i showed him how to upgrade a computer now he does it himself installing hard drives, dvd drives, ram, what ever. and he loves to use the computer i had to get him dsl because we couldn't reach him since he refused to use anything other than dial up and so his line was busy 24/7
