The "We need bravest gunners" preparation part sends chills down my spine each time. It's very exciting. That musical cue couldn't say "You will give me all your money" any louder. Where are any of these theaters left? Anywhere?
This was the game StarFox 64 WANTED to be..it was way ahead of its time back then and I think this was what the BOSE sound system was REALLY famous for..
@Cheekycrissy With the amazing machines and controllers we have now, we could be playing truly epic space combat games. Imagine combining and building upon the elements of Starfox, Panzer Dragoon and Sin & Punishment set against a dazzling visual spectacle as we see here. But no, we're stuck with an endless barrage of FPS games.
About 9 or 10 years ago a hotel I stayed at had this game in an arcade, and I would play it once or twice a day, sometimes find a good excuse to tell my parents so I could head to the arcade and play it. I got addicted to the graphics, the soundtrack, the gameplay...it was just one of the most rewarding games I ever played.
Thanks for posting this and letting lil'-geezer me recapture some of my younger and more fun days :D
This brings back memories. This game and Star blade should be ported over to the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, etc... I'd love to play this again. Rumor has it, Star Blade is on the Wii's virtual console in Japan.
Instant thumbs up: request this for XBLA!

This game was 9 tokens at my local arcade and the tokens were 3 for a dollar!!!!
Good thing I knew how to put free credits on the machine!!!
I would sit in between the two seats and play 2 guns.

Strange to hear some Australian bird talking? Sounds like she's just stepped of the set of Neighbours :) Wicked game though. :)

I've only ever seen one Galaxian 3 arcade theater in my life, but I was blown away by it! I doubt I'll ever see another.

Why is this game only one stage? They could've made it longer.
