seriously so many of you so ridiculous in your view of 4kids, yes we all know they changed many things that were unnecessary or made them weird, awkward, censored blood, clipped a lot of episodes, cut a lot of parts out, but please don't tell you you actually want a Y7 rated TV show to include death and alcohol and GUNS? Almost every Y7 show has to avoid death by only implying it or by making it comical or lessen its impact somehow

It's not "messing up", it's them making it fit for 7 YR OLDs =/

I understand that. What I'm trying to say is that people should not be bashing 4kids' adaption of it, but rather WHAT TARGET AUDIENCE they were adapting it for.

In which case, most people will blame 4kids for adapting it for kids then -- However people do not seem to realize that it is ONE PIECE's fault for allowing 4kids to dub it, not 4kids' fault! If the owners of One Piece decided to let 4kids adapt it for kids, then we REALLY should be blaming the owners, not 4kids, see? :)

Ok turn the guns green or whatever, erase blood. But stop there. As for bellemere's death, they could have just make the gun noise and thats all. You know 4kids has allowed guns and deaths occcasionally in theyr dubs.

Oh, didn't know they did! I haven't seen anything 4kids for a while. In that case yea an off screen + gun shot would have worked. Come to think of it there are other Y7 shows where there are offscreen deaths. So I guess you're right it wasn't necessary. I guess 4kids likes pointing xD

There is if the parents have a problem with it... that's why they have ratings, to help parents decide. And because TV channels need views for money, they need to please the viewers -- this includes the parents, who can control what their kids watch.

Thus, they have to keep rules sometimes such as no death, etc., or usually Y7 only, with PG and higher needing warning signs at the beginning to show that it's not a Y7 or below show.

I can't believe that 4Kids messed up with this anime even more than with Yu-Gi-Oh.

They think that this is more fitting for children than death.

Especially I hate it when they just cut of the cruel past of a villain. Of course villains are bad, but knowing their past gives you at last a chance to imagine how such a wrath can be created.

If there is so much hate, for children, I think it's more scary if they are evil without a reason, like they were just killing time with it.

At the time 4Kids had One Piece, my channel package didn't have Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. I watched it because it was essentially the only thing on in that timeslot. I read the manga in Shonen Jump monthly. It wasn't until years later that I saw exactly what 4Kids had done, at which point I went, "my god, what was I thinking?" I now applaud the wonderful job Funimation is doing with the show.
