I continue to be impressed with Pats creative depth and interpretation. It seems endless. Obviously not his song, but such an amazing, moving version.
... and Pat's interpretation reflects the song theme so well: sound of silence. I like Pat's acoustic work more than any of his recordings. His mastery combined with Linda Manzers guitar building mastery is an unbeatable team.
Amazing stuff. It has the sounds of harp, lute, mandolin, sitar and guitar and bass all coming from one instrument and the way he effortlessly runs off into harmonic scales and back again is virtuoso musicianship.
Something happens when PM plays his Pikasso guitar!!! The hairs on my arms just stand on end. I think it's the combination of close fretted harmonies, fretless tones and some deep bass notes. Anywho... works for me.... sublime!
This is such a beautiful rendition. The sound of this very unique instrument as well as Pat Metheny's phrasings are a joy to listen to. Thanks for sharing this.
definitely one of the best musicians in the world! His range of perfection, creativity, over several decades and his love how he composes and what... just listen and enjoy yourselve :-) !
I don't have enough words to express my gratitude for Mr. Pat Metheny. He is an amazing human being and as a musician, there is nobody who can come close to him. Yes, you can argue this statement but I bet that if John Coltrane would have been around he will have thank him for carying on his vision. And how Pat plays this song... Man, this is beyond this world.
