  • Come to papa

  • To those that think it was stalemate prior to this, think of the prior move to be: Qh4+, Kg1. Now is white's move and that there are stalemate possibility if white does a nothing move like e4 or e3.

  • btw , its stalemate , you cant checkmate him , lol

  • @juNk8assuLproduction you're an idiot. Just be quiet.

  • WHAT PROGRAM DO U USE?

  • What makes this puzzle a killer, is that one tends to mix up the directions...especially with the black :)

  • solve it with all possibilities, if blacks turn, then stalemate, if not then kd1 or kd2 is mate, but if for some reason the pawn is moving in the other dir. then its also stalemate

  • i thought chess puzzles were supposed to have only one option as to where the opponent can move, like you have to constantly keep pressure on the king, in this one, black could've moved the pawn and almost forced a stalemate unless white plays smart

  • Key is Kd1/2 which is not unique.

Placing WPe2 on d2 instead fixes the defect.

  • lol i didnt look at the whole video, i didnt realise it shows the answer XD

  • is this the solution?: Kd1/2 Kf1, Qe1!!! mate in 2 moves :D

  • black pawn g3 ensures that it's not mate in two after white king d1 or d2.

  • pawns cant move backwards, trodd1sox

  • @trodd1sox : the black pawn cannot go backwards...its direction is to g8. same as to white's pawn going to e8. standard chess position.

  • @PrinceArt77 Yeah you're right. I'm a jackass. A1 in the bottom left hand corner should have been a clue as to which way the black pawn was heading. I feel quite silly.

Anyway, upon studying this for quite a while, I've decided it can't be done; king can't move otherwise it'll be stalemate, and regardless of where the queen goes, black cannot be mated in 2. NO WAY JOSE!!

  • @trodd1sox : i paused this puzzle for a while when i first viewed this...it took me i think more than 2 minutes just staring at the positions of the pieces....and at first..it never occured to me that white's pawn is in fact in its original e2 starting position...i thought it was on check guard for black kings possible f1 move. haha. i solved the puzzle and i viewed the answer..it was correct...it can be mated in 2 moves my friend..just watch the answer at the end of the video..it's really nice!

  • The white king can go to d1 or d2.

  • Actually this puzzle was made by one of the Polgar sisters around age 4.

    Look into it.

  • this would be impossible because black right now is in stalemate on the turn prior to this.

  • how?

  • @chinesesamurai12 thats n ot true ecouse he can move pawn

  • It depends which way White is going. If white's pawn is about to queen then its stalemate. If white's pawn is still in its starting position, then the puzzle works.

  • But it's not his turn, so he probably got checked by the queen the last move, forcing him to go to g1.

Also, white's pawn is in it's starting position (e2), so the king can (and must) go to f1 after white plays Kd1.
