Let local government have 100% control of public schools. So they can train kids for the jobs there likely there going to have when older and make them the best at it. Now the vouchers are the other way to fix the problem not just by having fair competition, but by helping us all around. If a parent says I want my kid to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer in software,or scientist. They can get them a tutor so at a young age he could learn to be the worlds best doctor.
The congressmen who spoke last (Hunter) said we have to have non-credentialed teachers. If you have non-credentialed teachers teach, you won't get aerospace engineers; you get less qualified teachers that you can pay less. You get worse education, not better. Hey McCain - why not make the public schools better? Offering competition, but cutting the funding to public schools doesn't sound like you are helping the regular public.
Need to learn from the world!Soviet system was pretty effective. They had a ministry responsible for research into various methodologies, developing standards, developing curriculum and textbooks for each grade and subject, educating teachers, enforcing the standards nationwide. Teachers still had freedom to have their own style but at the same time were provided with well-tested detailed professional guidelines.Imagine individual school boards or parents competing with that level of professionalism.
"Conservatives beat liberals only when we challenge their outdated positions, not embrace them. This is not a time for philosophical flexibility, it is a time to stand up for what we believe in. Together we can carry the conservative banner all the way to the Whitehouse." -Fred Thompson-
Yeah, so lets put more government regulation on organizations like the NEA. Maybe we could trade the NEA for Thompson....great trade, one nightmare for another.

As Thompson said, the NEA has been a nightmare for education.
