  • Get your own poems you bastards, leave our British poems alone, there for us.

  • @Tommyfungun Like it or not, your stuck with us as your progeny; we revolted but did not fall far from the tree. We have embraced all your notions of freedom (yes, despite the revolt), capitalism, protestantism, and manhood. You've had some great ideas - worthy of being emulated. Cheers, Mate!

  • @tjmjr63 ......I suppose you are right......nice comment by the way.

  • Bonito tema

  • wow another brilliant video. it gave me chills all the way through.

  • So inspiring!

  • thank you so much for making this, this is one of my favorite poems and how appropriately set to a tribute to our troops, my son is a marine serving in Afghanistan right now and this was such an inspiration to me , thank you

  • Thank you

from a an old retired Sergeant

  • I simply think that those who do not agree with what the military men and woman stand for each day should stand their coward selves in their way instead of seeing it necessary to even speak down on them. Just my opinion

  • What a perfect heroic pairing of this poem with the soldiers who live this everyday. Thank you. Bt

  • Absolutely awesome! Beautiful music, beautiful poem. Totally inspirational. Thank you.

  • God Bless our men and women serving around the world and Thank you!

  • Check out our song "Mrs Allan"

    Peace,

    The Ormidales from Vancouver

  • I take you where never a solider or in 'harms way'.

  • kipling was a bit of an imperialist so he might have agreed...

  • Is it you that is being narrow minded? It is a poem....it is up to the reader how they vision what the content means( unless we have Kipling here to provide us his exact intent). Are you really telling me, by your comment, that every person sees the world as you do? I suggest that you give your "narrow idealogies " a rest! Who the hell are you to be telling everyone what Kipling would think or want.....how full of yourself!!!! and on that point....give it a rest!!!

  • @BigMojoDevil Einstein was no Kipling. Nothing against Einstein, but his genius did not allow him to occupy the world the rest of us inhabit. Kipling was a "man's man". Kipling's own son was gunned down in the killing fields of WWI. Such dark irony there. However, make no mistake that Kipling wrote of a 19th century notion of manliness. You're free to disagree with his notion, but don't misrepresent it.

  • Thank you for this video! It is an awesome tribute!

  • Powerful video.

Shame the feces slinging monkeys felt the need to show up in the comments.

  • True...but you know what ? Let them. Who the fuck wants them on our side anyways ?

  • This isnt a channel where you can come and post your anti American rhetoric. So fuck off. Anyone else that is here to show respect, much love. This is a great video.

  • "If" Перевод М. ЛОЗИНСКОГО

    Владей собой среди толпы смятенной,

    Тебя клянущей за смятенье всех,

Верь сам в себя, наперекор вселенной,

    И маловерным отпусти их грех;

Пусть час не пробил, жди, не уставая,

    Пусть лгут лжецы, не снисходи до них;

    ...

  • And also: war is the worst thing on Earth. there's no any normal mortal who likes it, BUT... When there's a dangerous enemy attacking you, you've got no time to think. Act - or die. And give respect. Believe me, you don't know how MUCH job war is.

  • If you don't want to feed your army, you'll be feeding your enemy's one. Amen.

  • open your eyes people and read the pnac report! Democrat or Republican were all just...

  • Although the intentions are good, its all one big blind fold put on each and everyone of use not only by the U.S. but by all other major countries that are considered a power house. They use little things to play the strings they need, to do what it is they want to do. Many people are blind by what these things are...just open your eyes and see the big picture. the PENAC report will do such...

  • Does anyone know what music this is?

  • A fantastic poem from a Brit! A fantastic video showing our brave and valiant soldiers!!! The song, the poem, and the video brings tears to my eyes.

  • ruined a perfectly good poem by choosing a stupid subject to put it to.

  • true

  • Amen. It's quite odd - and not a little pathetic - that the author of this video found parallels between this poem and the US war machine. There may be nobility and good intentions in some soldiers individually, but much of it is blind mass murder in the name of warped patriotism and geopolitical dogma. Of course, one cannot expect lowest common denominator folk to have the self-awareness to separate the poem's sentiment with cheap troop sentimentality.

  • For every US flag waving in the wind in slo-mo, I can give you 20 examples of mindless, unforgivable havoc created by soldiers who are uneducated, extremist, low class murderers of innocents who hardly understand or question what they do because they aren't capable of sophisticated thought. This lowbrow "theyre fighting for our freedoms" fluff. I may be generalizing but it's truer than the jarring comparison to Kipling's poem. Where did this country take such a spectacular cultural wrong turn?

  • If you hate America so bad, leave. We don't want you here anyways.

  • Um... you're operating from an outdated perspective of the military. Maybe 30-40 years ago uneducated, extremist, low class, and incapable of sophisticated thought was accurate. But, that's not today's military. Yes, it's still in transition from that world of unquestioning obedience; however, it has reached the tipping point and today's soldier is expected to think, reason, judge, and act accordingly. And, he/she is held accountable for all his/her actions. Today's military of individual...

  • Today's military is one of individual responsibility... and, the standard for conduct is much higher than for the regular American citizen. Yes, some soldiers don't adhere to these standards, but those soldiers are also punished for their actions. That said, you (and I) may not agree with the decisions our politicians make, i.e. the US "war machine", etc. But, YOU have as much power to change that as any soldier does. In fact, you have MORE power, because you won't lose your job for speaking out

  • So, if you'd like to see a change in that domain, I'd say you might look to yourself on that one... and, integrate a little of your own self-awareness into your thinking (and speaking).

  • I totaly agree with you

  • How nauseating. The lies are the ones the usa uses. WMD nad the other lies for invading Iraqi.

    Spare a thought for the

  • Semper-Fi

  • although your using a british poem wich i love greatly you have used it well and for a good cause.

  • Great video, this is the way our military truly is, not the way the media depicts it to be. The focus on so much of the negative to sell stories and not enough on how great our soldiers actually are. I am currently a Cadet at the USAF Academy and, even though I am not out in the mainstream military, like to thank you for this video.

  • Thousand of american soldiers died for my brothers, the kurds, helping to create The kurdistan government in North Iraq. I will never forget the people who made possible such a thing, an independent region without Sadam. These soldiers will never be forgotten. Never!

  • As one of those and on behalf of the rest, Thank You

  • God Bless you my friend!!! Please spread the word that THEY ARE DOING WELL!! again thank you Azadkanjo!

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOD BLESS ALL OUR SOLDIERS! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR OUR FREEDOM! WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU ALL! GOD BLESS ALL YOUR LOVED ONES! signed.. A GRATEFUL AMERICAN!

  • Such noble, high gifts these soldiers who do not know me bestow. There will never be an adequate thank you. A very fine job creating this.

  • Why oh why can't the main scream news media have the same feeling about our BRAVE military that this video shows. The wonderful joy and honor of our military shown in this video makes me feel so proud to be a AMERICAN. I wish i could explain all the feelings this video has me feeling. Makes me think that back in WW2 times both news press and hollywood carried the same feelings about our military that this video shows. SCREW todays news media and hollyweird. They make my blood boil!

  • I am thankful for all who so BRAVELY serve in the BEST military there is. You will always be remembered and never forgotten. YOU ARE THE BEST. This video is excellent , beyond 5 stars. Oh how i wish this was on t.v..

  • Long periods of boredom...punctuated by moments of adrenalin rushes.

This is what our brave warriors in the Armed Services endure on our behalf.

    They have my undying gratitude.

Kipling's timeless words ring true for every generation:

"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,"

...And the media knaves engage in this practice on a worldwide scale now.

    Excellent video!

  • ""If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,"

...And the media knaves engage in this practice on a worldwide scale now."

--That's the quote that stood out to me as well. Great minds....

Endless twisting of the truth, by the media, and by evil and by charlatans alike.

  • DAMN good video ... HOYAH !

  • 5***** So very moving and beautiful. May God bless all our service men and women.

  • Beautiful tribute to our troops. 5*****. God Bless.

  • Thank you for sharing this with me, it is truly wonderful

  • this was not written for you !!!

  • this is amazing

what music is in the background?

  • I think there are very few men who read 'If' who do not secretly hope that they have lived up to its code. My grandfather, a WW1 veteran, could quote Kipling. And my father, a Royal Marine Commando, carried a copy of Kipling's poems, including 'If, across Europe in 1944-45. That same battered copy is now in my bedside table and when things get rough I turn to the words of that poem.

I am not American - but my thoughts are with the ordinary American soldiers serving in Iraq. God be with you.

  • You hear of only the bad a lot od times. You don't hear the good very often. You can't pentilize the whole military on the action of one bad apple. The military is still an honor to be in and still an admirable profession.

  • a beautiful video. I only wish the reality of the united state's military conduct was as virtuous as is protrayed in your video

  • The U.S. military's conduct is virtuous. 100,000 good and you hear of one bad. If only you walked among them, you would be astounded that people of their nature exist and live to fight the battle so others can be free. All humans have the right to be free. Freedom is worth the struggle. Those who think that it's not have never lived without it.

Thank you to all who serve.

  • Well done. See if you can't get someone to read it aloud, and repost. I think that would be nice!

  • Well done.

  • Very profound.. a classic poem utilised so unbelievably well here. Thank you so much~

  • u are awesome! who would use there time 2 do this u rock

  • This is absolutely brilliant! I think that by using text rather than a voice over allows the music to play a more prominent part and set the tone. Really well done !!

  • this is one of the most inspiring poems ever written ...read it out loud ...it is beautifully presented here honoring our soldiers
