I could be wrong...but I'm pretty sure he wrote this about an old friend of his named Charlie who built a lot of his guitars. Stevie knew him for years, as did Jimmie.

@obiwan6885 No you're right. It's about Charely Wirz (sp) who did a lot with Stevies guitars. If you notice, he plays a white guitar everytime he plays this song. It's a Stratocaster that Charley custom built with parts from other guitars...one of my favorite of SRV's...behind #1 of course.
