they are not.. they started that rumor early in their carrier as the white stripes, because they didnt wanted ppl to focus on their relationship instead of their music. they divorced on year 2000.. but they get along and have a good friendship.

They told people they were siblings though so people would focus on the music rather then their relationship. They're divorced now, so that's probably what you were reading about. They keep the brother-sister act alive though

It's still going on because it is The White Stripes. I'm assuming they got divorced because they thought they were better off just being friends, but as close of friends they are it's like they are siblings.
