I'm astounded at the reception I got for posting this song. Gil Scott-Heron did much better stuff in the day but he was too real for most people to handle. This song had a good mix of levity and reality, not to mention a killer groove.

Heard this the first time in 1971. I had just graduated from the University of Texas. One of the last things I did was protest at the LBJ library dedication. I have some great pics. We released 1,000 black balloons just when Nixon was speaking. Came to Kauai the first then. Met a black gal and turned her on to the movie "Shaft," which I had already seen in Texas. She turned me on this song on the album "Swiss Movement." 40 years later, I got on cd.
