  • I don't get it he actively turns his back to the pole. Surely he would just get kicked or something.

  • In Jiulong Baguazhang the pole can represent an opponent or merely an object to orient towards. Instead of walking always facing in the Jiulong Boxers walk facing inward as if the pole were an opponent and also facing the tangent of the circle and then facing towards the outside of the circle rotating the torso in, out and tangent like the turret of a tank to face multiple opponents. In this example all three directions are being addressed. It is a training tool nothing more.

  • @02cspearson if you didn't understand what he said, then this should help. if the pole was human he must turn in your direction so not to have his back to you that is what happens though he not be fast when he does you can turn to see more enemies or use momentum to focus a strongr attack. or if you fight multiple people the turning can let you fight them one on one.
