I just love this song. I teach English in South Korea. I'm an American. I taught my students so many things about Australia because 20 will be going the for a year. I taught so many different songs and so much of the culture, I didn't get to this one. I hope my replacement will do it. She teaches during the second session. I gave her the link. I love Aussie stuff.
now i'm a metal head but sim dusty is the one of the only other singers i'll lision to no joke i LOVE him and i will miss him he was and still is a legend
I Love this song. My Grandad used to play this for us all the time. I had the best child hood growing up. Every school holidays my parents used to send us to our grandparents farm in the country. We got to play with all our cousins and have some great memories! We all used to sing & dance to Slim Dusty and other Aussie songs!
I love this song. I have a friend that knew Slim. I read his book, loaned to me by that friend. Would have loved to meet him. God Bless Austrailia!!!This Texan loves you guys!:)
This song reminds me of a visit to Brisbane in 1968, now if it didn't come out until after that date, what the heck! it still reminds me of Brisbane, wonderful town, wonderful state, wonderful country, wonderful people
my best memory of this song is back in primary school. The school principal fancied himself as a singer, he used to sit on the stage and sing this during the school assembly. I recently discovered that after he retired from teaching he has been doing the club circuit as a country singer with his wife. Mr Raff rocked!!
It saddens me that the Aussie culture is dying to the American style. I say G'day to everyone, complete strangers. But when I hear an aussie kid say "ass" instead of "arse" and asking for ketchup instead of deadhorse....it just makes me a little sad.
@FatmanXVII I'm 18 years old and it kills me that American culture has taken over Australian culture- and that no-one seems to give a shit! Australia till the end, I say!
I am not really into country music however this song is GREAT! I love it! A+++ Thank you for post this great tune! Best wishes from, Marc in south western Ohio USA!

Wonderful ! Thanks for posting this great song. This one "Yank" that loves All Australians. I was a visitor , thanks especially to the people of Sydney that made my crew welcome.
@MaddyRockRoxs I'm an Aussie living in the USA with my American husband and our 3 month old daughter (an Ausmerican/Ameristralian). My husband found this song and loves it - along with Slim's version of Waltzing Matilda, Rolf Harris's Click Go the Shears and Tie Me Kangaroo Down, and John Williamson's version of Home among the Gumtrees. He plays them every day to our daughter.
I am as American as it gets, but I love this song! I went to Australia a few years ago on a trip with some students from a college I taught at. Our crazy tour guide played this song every day we that were on the road! Most Americans love Aussies and Austraila. Your six dislikes probably came from New Zealanders! JK
@12fangs The Japanese have nothing against Australians. Also, some people hit the wrong button by accident. I've done that once, so they may have liked the song.
a few years ago i had the priveledge of teaching english at a couple of schools in Thailand for about 2 weeks. This was the song we chose to teach the kids to give then an idea about sland. They thaught it was the coolest song ever
We miss you Slim. Rest in Peace. Australia is a great land. I love it so much. There's nothing better than after a long day of farming to sit with a nice can of beer and look up at the southern cross...

@taiko78 Winton is the best, Currently I'm working in Germany, worked on Fraser Island and the country of Winton is my favourite in the world (althought I have only seen Europe twice). Sheep station between Winton and Bulia- my favourite place in the world, can't wait to be there in 4 months- perfect place I think to sit in front of a fire with Slim, you have a lucky mother and sister!
@ozzyguy67 just because i use 'coz'... i'm sorry, just because i write how i'm speaking doesn't mean i can't spell, but saying that, in future i might write 'cause instead even though i'm not saying cause i'm saying because without the 'be' which makes it into a 'cos' but the s causes confusion due to it's over sibilance... and i'm not an ass or i wouldn't have the opposable fingers to type. oh wait that's because you use a different lexis to me... and i think i will read another book
