I am glad this issue is being brought to the surface. It highlights American stupidity, this case being circumcision. We panic, believe doctors as they were Gods and several decades later, we find it was better to leave a boy uncircumcised. They used to take out your tonsils out at the drop of a hat years ago, maybe circumcision will finally go the same way.

The doctor is subversively antagonistic, which I assume is because he is cut or he has had a hand in the medical community practicing circumcision. The way he tried to reverse the comparison to FGM was annoying. He is a libertarian, so of course he jumped at the chance to say "you feel the government should involve itself?..." Well, yes,that's why the man said he'd rather have parents make good decisions without a law, but the majority are incapable of doing so in this country. They can't read.

Uhh sorry to tell you but... parents do have the right to have a piece of skin cut off of their boy's penis. Oh well, circumcision is a lame thing to argue about. About a million things are more important than this topic. Cut it off... don't cut it off... whatever, if it is your kid... its your business.

So by the same argument, I suppose you think parents have the right to have female circumcision performed on their daughters. If your in-law was planning to do this to your niece, you'd be cool with it, right?

Im not an idiot... so that makes your question rhetorical. Well, I'm going to be an idiot and answer your question... it matters what the situation is. If she is part of an old culture in some far away land... and that is what is supposed to happen, I can honestly say i would respect their culture. Yet, if they were doing it here... I would be upset becuase they are breaking the law... plain and simple. Anyway, boys and girls are different.

Boys and girls are not different that one should have rights over the other based on gender. That's just hypocrisy. Both genders have an equal right to have a whole body without society deeming which parts someone is allowed to have and amputate the rest. If a family member decided your niece was going to move and integrate to a place where female circumcision is acceptable and considered necessary, you'd be totally fine having her circumcised? Or, just as long as they weren't doing it "here"?

If he mother and father were part of that culture, and they were moving back to their home, yes i would have no problem. You know what buddy, you win. Don't circumcise your kids... becuase thats all you have control over. I will circumcise my boys becuase i decide what is best for them, not someone with an opinion and too much time on thier hands. Just pray that i continue to have daughters.

If you're going to make the decision for your sons to amputate a part of their genitalia, you better hope as adults they won't resent you for mutilating them instead of protecting them like you were supposed to. If anything, as adults, let your sons decide whether they want to get circumcised or not. If they choose to get circumcised, you win by getting what you wanted for them. If they choose not to, they win because they didn't have this body altering decision made for them. Everyone wins.

Ill think about it. Yet, it is likely that my sons will follow my African culture, and be circumcised. Its just how our culture is, and I have never heared any of my brothers or members of my tribe in Africa complain about it. How about this, if they don't like it, then my grandchildren won't be circumcised.
