I still don't get how did the retarded nazis get control of a holl continent. We should of created strict laws against their thinking after the war. But now it's to late, and there's a lot of retarded neo nazis again. Why don't we create a holocost for them, how would they like it.
@PierreRMB Hitler used powerful words and speeches to persuade Germans to support the Nazis and him to become chancellor of Germany. He basically brainwashed everyone, saying that he would return economic prosperity to Germany. During the time, everyone was desperate. Germany was in economic turmoil. Germany took full responsibility for WWI (even though they didn't start it). As a result, Germany had to pay reparations, disarm their army, and give back the territories that they had imperialised,
@PierreRMB That left almost all Germans in poverty. So everyone was suffering starvation, homelessness, etc in Germany. Everyone was so desperate for a new leader who could help Germany. That's why Hitler came to power. In addition, everyone lived in fear when Germany was under the rule of Hitler. Do you really think that we could have helped Germany? The U.S. had its own problems to deal with. The U.S. was an isolationist. DO you really want to create another holocaust?b/c that would be stupid
@blueflamex171 I know what append in the pass. I just hate that there are a fue Americans who calls us Europeans, "Neo Nazis," when it is not true. The Germans are the ones who gets called that the most, just because of their history. But most importent, I hate all Nazis, Neo Nazis, KKK, Right Wings, And all of those imbecile Retards. They have cosed so much more pain than any one could of imagin pocible. We should never again mistake hope with deception again.
To those who didnt know, Eisenhower before launching the invasion actually launched a two way deception plan called "operation: Fortitude" Kesselring fell into that trap and sent the armor and mechanized under his command towards the Fortitude South operation down at Pas De Calais, leaving Rommel on his own to hold the beaches. But still everyone did their part and that's how we won. RIP to everyone :)
D-Day was a tragic day for American soldiers wave after wave of American forces machine gun fire coming from the bunkers Americans almost thought it would be impossible to take the beach over 93,000 casualties happen that day but we Americans didn't give up. I hope you and everyone else honors, respects and love what they sacrifice to save our country from the German Forces.
Rest in peace my friends I will never forget your courage
Out of all the Beaches the America and British Allies landed on, Omaha was the most bloody and the operations nearly failed before the troops had even set foot on the beaches. It didnt go to plan in Omaha everything was against the Americans, But they were very brave and didnt want to let there Allies down, by failing to take the beach. but taking the beach was nothing to the break out from normandy the germans made the Americans and British pay for every little mistake and step they took.
IF British and American men who fought that day could have seen what their countries would have turned into, they never would have allowed themselves to be deployed.

blinky123abc, Actually about 3,000 Aussies were in the RN, RAF, & probably a few in the R Marine & Army Commandos etc. in the Allied forces during the Normandy landings.
fuck usa..they chose not 2 mention the canadian armored brigades killed germanys best tank ace the black barron who had more then 90 confermed kills and lead the final SS armored defence before the rhine river. and the canadian tanks wer ordered NOT to cross the river to attack the remaining fleeing germans. 2 days later pattons 3rd army crossed the rhine and got the credit for being the first into germany. same thing happened in italy, america got all the credit when canada fought just as hard
@EIFFELTOWERSONGS I was at Normandy on D-Day 2010...Most of the people dressed as US GIs were French and they said the same thing...Thank you for your appreciation...Yankee Doodle
@EIFFELTOWERSONGS I love everybody thinks the Americans did everything in every war that there was in history when the FACT is that Canada did more then any country in both wars, Canada took vimy ridge in the first world war, Canada took Passchendaele, they foguht at the somme they pretty much won every major battle of the first world war in France and Belgium and in WW2 they were there from the start U.s.a didnt come in till 1942, Canada liberated holland and was a huge part of D-day
@burnz0021 I respect your patriotism, however, you might want to read a few history books before you decide to post comments. Canada certainly did Her share, but did not do "more then any country in both wars". When you post comments like that it makes you look stupid, and by extension, Canadians look ignorant.
@cf80to....WW"2 was fought in russia , NOT europe . the U.S was a side show . 20 million russians died .
more than all the rest combined . but it was written out of OUR history books cos the REDS were our enemy .
another thing FRENCH resistance was non existant ...wheras yugoslavia held down a WHOLE division and delayed invasion of russia by a month ....AGAIN , never told because yugoslavia became communist
@EIFFELTOWERSONGS all the fighters of the USA? What about Britain, we were fighting your corner long before the US decided to help, and they only helped out because of pearl fucking harbor, they had no intention of join ww2 until they got a thrashing
@downhiller234 Most of the divisions, munitions, tanks, aircraft, and supplies needed for the d-day invasion came from the USA. 70% of the forces fighting in western europe from june 1944 to may 1945 were american. Most of the tanks, aircraft, fuel and ammo the british and canadians used was made in USA. On D-Day it was the americans who took the hardest beaches and it was the americans who made the breakout from normandy possible in july.
@moonshot926 The US had 15% of the ships on D Day. The US did not make up 70% of the forces to may 45. Most of the munitions, aircraft and supplies the British and Canadians used D Day to VE day came form the UK. Most of the tanks the British used came from the UK. The US did not take the hardest beaches but had the most casualties on Omaha and it was the British and Canadians that made the breakout possible. On july 25 1944 645 tanks faced the British & Canadians & 190 faced the Americans
@downhiller234 fucking britisher.u were fighting againt hitler but u guys r wrose than him.u hav killed more people in India during ur 200years of rule there.u were fighting for the French and where were u gettin the resources to fight, from ur slave countries and many Indian soldiers hav fought for the british in both ww1 and 2 and were promised independence after ww1 and were betrayed but still the Indians helped them in ww2 thats the greatness of Indian people.
@EIFFELTOWERSONGS So, since we sacrificed a lot of good men to liberate France, do you guys know of anything France can sacrifice to help save the American economy?
@EIFFELTOWERSONGS You think the sacrifice was only by the USA? 60% of the invading force was British and Canadian and for some reason the world only thanks the USA -no disrespect to them obviously, just to the people who think they are the only ones who liberated Europe. What fucks me off even more? the French decided not to invite the Queen to the D-Day anniversary. Fuck French freedom if that's what they think.
I'd like Sarkozy to show me where all the French graves are in Britain. Nowhere.
@spongebo13 That's not true There are many French graves in Britain. Dig deep you'll find them.
That is about the worst thing the French could have done, other than trying to invade England, not inviting the Queen to the D Day anniversary. D Day wouldn't have happened without the British and it was the British and Canadians who did most of the fighting during the Normandy campaign. Why the stub?
@1Dougy85 I'm not blaming the French people -well not ALL of them. In Paris I have met very small-minded people who hate the British and love the Americans for freeing them. However it's very obvious not the whole of France feels this. I would love to see President Sarkozy living in Nazi occupied France if thats how he feels. Well done to Obama though for saying if the Queen wasnt invited, he wouldnt go. That took some courage and really shows the alliance between Britain and the US.
@spongebo13 I don't include all French people in my statement cause of course not all feel that way. The French government. Guess the same can be said of the US. Does the US as a whole feel an alliance to Britain? Some do some don't, or Obama government. That's the bad part, when our governments do something we're all thrown in together as if we're all behind them.
its amazing that with all the planning and size of the invasion force,,its was down to good luck that it came off,,the losses at omaha were horrible,,but it could have been a lot worse had the germans been in the right place,,and hadnt opened up an eastern front,,luckily it came off,,but wast too soon for the jews,,the crimes against women and children done by the germans mass murderers ,well those pics of the holocaust haunt me forever,,most evil regime ever, hitler was a nut job.
greed and greed, ,everything comes back to greed, im not religious,in fact i believe religion is just a man made phenomenon to control peoples mind, and keep them in the box so to speak ,so kings can be kings and lords can be lords, cos the biggest threat to worlds hierarchy is when people start to think for themselves outside the confinements of relgious boundaries or social blueprints, the more time i spend on earth the more the human race depresses me,on every level it really is dog eat dog.
@andrewkenworthy yes it very much is..cartoons, ipods, youtube anything to dumb us down..you might have heard that our nations education is declining and why? well for obivous reasons. i take it you have seen zeitgeist, i havent had a chance to watch the 2nd one yet
@andrewkenworthy since the first cave men till the last.... just play the game & watch yer ass. Doesnt matter if yer a lion or a mouse, do the best you can.
My uncle was a Sgt. in the second wave, 115th regiment , 29th Infantry Division. He was severly wounded near St Laurent late in the afternoon of June 6, 1944. He was very lucky to survive. Many of his men did not.
Bea, This is a picture of a memorial that is now built on the Omaha Beach where we landed on June 6. It has the name of all the Eng. outfits that was in the 5th Brigade. Our company is on it. But it is not plain enough to see in the picture. Keep this, for I will always remember this place and that day. I love you, Cliff
My Papaw was in the 37th Engineer Battalion. They were assigned to the 5th Engineer Special Brigade, which was in the first wave of assaults at Omaha Beach. They were to blow up the landing obstacles the Nazis had placed on the beach to hinder an invasion. The casuality rate among them was 40%. He later would move on to Belgium and the Battle of the Bulge. He was an excellent shot with a rifle, pistol or shotgun. He died in 1985. I miss him so much. He was a good man.
My grandfather was in the Army Corps of engineer but no idea what battalion, brigade or regiment, He came a few days after the beaches had been cleared and moved with Pattons third to fight the battle of the bulge and help save the encircled 101st near bastogne and the Arddens forest.
i think i know what brigade ur grand father is in he is the 1 who helped the 2nd balttalion 502nd pir easy company aka band of brothers they helped them when they were needing help
Not sure of the exact time line but... He came after the beach head had been cleared, than I think he went to france then later to the battle of the bulge.
The combined time & area casualty rate at Tarawa is equal to & may just surpass the rate at Verdun, Stalingrad, Rhezv-Operation Mars, etc.
At a small island known as Betio or Tarawa, ~1-square mile of solid land, there were over 8,000 casualties in 75-hours: USA = ~1,500 KIA& MIA, ~ 2,200 WIA; Japanese = ~ 5,000 KIA, ~120 POWs of which POWs only 17 were Japanese. 1-Square Mile or ~2.63 Square Kms. in 75-hours.
BaranovV, 'Small' is a vague term. The France 1944 Campaign was not 'small' even in comparison to the East Front. The Pacific Campaign covered an immnelsy larger area than the East Front. 1-Square Mile or ~2.63 Square Kms. in 75-hours.
jensham1945, You are confusing things. The beaches were not 'swept' of mines before the invasion, and that was impossible to do. The waters of the English Channel were swept of mines, not the beaches.
An old guy, a friend of mine, swept all the beaches for mines before the attack. Returning to his ship after the sweep he spent June 6 and the next days off Omaha. He cries when he says what he saw that day.
2009 he went back for the reunion but couldn't find his passport when he got to immigration but a Dday veteran friend of his did point out that on that day they had not needed passports, but the French were noticable in their absence anyway.
At Omaha, there were ~4,700 USA casualties (new records have been found & older ones more thoroughly reviewed, MIA reclassified as KIA, etc., so the casualty count has increased over the years). Plus many of the Brti Royal Navy landing craft crews became casualties. There was 1 Brit Commando liason officer with the Rangers at Pointe du Hoc & he was wounded. This thread is about Omaha, not Utah, Gold, Juno & Sword.
I'm sure everyone would agree buddy. I go out plenty and i haven't touched halo in like 2 months sadly...D: but while I'm getting laid learn how to spell "Laid" L-A-I-D not that hard buddy
Falsch.
my grandpa told me about that day, he was with the 2nd wave that landed, told me i coudlnt comprehend the color of the water, told me wishes he could forget.
oh for shit sakes people, stop arguing about who did what, it was called a WORLD WAR for a reason. because EVERYBODY was at war, everybody did there part axis and allied forces alike. everybody wants to be proud of there country, but the truth is, we all would be speaking german or Japanese right now if it wasn't for the combined forces of the WHOLE allied campaign. well ok we did beat the japs by ourselves but as for everything else, my point stands.
Pick-up Steven Ambrose's D-Day book. The problems at Omaha were mainly 2 things: air bombardment was completely infeffective, was supposed to open up bunkers on beach and take out the 88 and 105mm guns; and the tanks were supposed to provided infranty cover (they didn't make it). That created a horrible killing field. God bless those men who landed there. I don't think they knew what they were in for.
look at :37 you can't even see the bunkers. i saw saving private ryan. i was wondering is that movie acurate because in this photo there walking off the boat and in the movie there running for there lives off the boat and alot didnt even make it farther then a meter before getting shot (reply please, thanks )
hmmm the 1st, 5th and 7th Marine regiments suffered about the same casualties in the INITIAL assault on Peleliu as the americans did on Omaha. look that one up. its some scary shit. my grandfather was there and showed me lots of pictures and told me some messed up stories. he was a good man.
all the soldiers that fought on all sides deserve our respect.
My great grandpa was a Pathfinder, He had a mowhawk and facepaint on d-day. He lost one of his legs. I lost two uncles in Vietnam...FUCK FRANCE... WW1, WW2, and Vietnam? And they still hate us. How many times do we have to rescue these folks?
"I have returned many times to honor the valiant men who diedevery man who set foot on Omaha Beach was a hero." Lieutenant General Omar Bradley - Commander of the US First Army

fuck usa..they chose not 2 mention the canadian armored brigades killed germanys best tank ace the black barron who had more then 90 confermed kills and lead the final SS armored defence before the rhine river. and the canadian tanks wer ordered NOT to cross the river to attack the remaining fleeing germans. 2 days later pattons 3rd army crossed the rhine and got the credit for being the first into germany. same thing happened in italy, america got all the credit when canada fought just as hard

@EIFFELTOWERSONGS I love everybody thinks the Americans did everything in every war that there was in history when the FACT is that Canada did more then any country in both wars, Canada took vimy ridge in the first world war, Canada took Passchendaele, they foguht at the somme they pretty much won every major battle of the first world war in France and Belgium and in WW2 they were there from the start U.s.a didnt come in till 1942, Canada liberated holland and was a huge part of D-day
burnz0021 1 year ago

What about Britain, we were fighting your corner long before the US decided to help, and they only helped out because of pearl fucking harbor, they had no intention of join ww2 until they got a thrashing
downhiller234 6 months ago
@downhiller234 Most of the divisions, munitions, tanks, aircraft, and supplies needed for the d-day invasion came from the USA. 70% of the forces fighting in western europe from june 1944 to may 1945 were american. Most of the tanks, aircraft, fuel and ammo the british and canadians used was made in USA. On D-Day it was the americans who took the hardest beaches and it was the americans who made the breakout from normandy possible in july.
moonshot926 5 months ago
@moonshot926 The US had 15% of the ships on D Day. The US did not make up 70% of the forces to may 45. Most of the munitions, aircraft and supplies the British and Canadians used D Day to VE day came form the UK. Most of the tanks the British used came from the UK. The US did not take the hardest beaches but had the most casualties on Omaha and it was the British and Canadians that made the breakout possible. On july 25 1944 645 tanks faced the British & Canadians & 190 faced the Americans

@EIFFELTOWERSONGS that is most of the deepest thing I have ever heard from someone..Well done =)
StudiosClock 5 months ago
@EIFFELTOWERSONGS You think the sacrifice was only by the USA? 60% of the invading force was British and Canadian and for some reason the world only thanks the USA -no disrespect to them obviously, just to the people who think they are the only ones who liberated Europe. What fucks me off even more? the French decided not to invite the Queen to the D-Day anniversary. Fuck French freedom if that's what they think.
I'd like Sarkozy to show me where all the French graves are in Britain. Nowhere.
spongebo13 3 months ago
@spongebo13 That's not true There are many French graves in Britain. Dig deep you'll find them.
That is about the worst thing the French could have done, other than trying to invade England, not inviting the Queen to the D Day anniversary. D Day wouldn't have happened without the British and it was the British and Canadians who did most of the fighting during the Normandy campaign. Why the stub?
1Dougy85 3 months ago
@1Dougy85 I'm not blaming the French people -well not ALL of them. In Paris I have met very small-minded people who hate the British and love the Americans for freeing them. However it's very obvious not the whole of France feels this. I would love to see President Sarkozy living in Nazi occupied France if thats how he feels. Well done to Obama though for saying if the Queen wasnt invited, he wouldnt go. That took some courage and really shows the alliance between Britain and the US.
spongebo13 3 months ago

I have a postcard Papaw sent my Mamaw.
It says;
1974bubbie 2 years ago
My Papaw was in the 37th Engineer Battalion. They were assigned to the 5th Engineer Special Brigade, which was in the first wave of assaults at Omaha Beach. They were to blow up the landing obstacles the Nazis had placed on the beach to hinder an invasion. The casuality rate among them was 40%. He later would move on to Belgium and the Battle of the Bulge. He was an excellent shot with a rifle, pistol or shotgun. He died in 1985. I miss him so much. He was a good man.
1974bubbie 2 years ago
My grandfather was in the Army Corps of engineer but no idea what battalion, brigade or regiment, He came a few days after the beaches had been cleared and moved with Pattons third to fight the battle of the bulge and help save the encircled 101st near bastogne and the Arddens forest.

1-Square Mile or ~2.63 Square Kms. in 75-hours.
christof139 2 years ago
BaranovV, 'Small' is a vague term. The France 1944 Campaign was not 'small' even in comparison to the East Front. The Pacific Campaign covered an immnelsy larger area than the East Front. 1-Square Mile or ~2.63 Square Kms. in 75-hours.

jensham1945, You are confusing things. The beaches were not 'swept' of mines before the invasion, and that was impossible to do. The waters of the English Channel were swept of mines, not the beaches.
christof139 2 years ago
All fights in France and on pacifik ocean are small by quantity(amount) of units and the soldier with east front.
BaranovV 2 years ago

Sie waren tief eingegraben. Nur durch die grösste Luftlandeoperation konnten die Allies die Bunkeranlagen von hinten knacken.Die Deutschen haben nur 20000-30000 Soldaten verloren.
