  • I have the REV02 from my Halo Reach console, much quitter than the new ones but it does make a low buzzing sound after long play time.

  • But it doesn't bother me un less I watch a movie, because a wear turtle beach

  • I have a rev 2 and it gets noisier after about 20-30 mins

  • I have a Rev 03 and its making a buzzing noise that it wasn't making before when i first the Xbox 360 slim. its loud!

  • my rev 3 sounds like an jet engine:P and as long as it works i dont complain. i try to hide it away to block out the noise. and the day it gives up (if it does) ill call microsoft

  • Rev 02 is defiantly the quietest one from what I've heard, I have had a 02 from my launch slim which I traded (wish I never did) got my new slim that came with the Rev B, traded the supply for a 03 (quieter than B but still louder than console after being on for so long) and now I've purchased a 02 from eBay just so I can have a silent system once again... So if anyone is buying a new slim know that it will come with either a 03 or B supply both louder than the actual system. Best thing to do i

  • I have a rev. 03, and it is considerably louder than the Xbox itself.

  • so wait which rev is the latest?

  • i just got my second slim because i heard this noise so is it normal or should i trade it once again? Also is rev b the newest psu?

  • 60hurts, how sure are you that it is the revision? I just bought a slim and the power supply sounds the same - like a jet engine.. it's a Revision B. But maybe there might be people out there with loud REV02 and quiet Rev B?

My slim was manufactured in April this year. I don't want to take it back to the store only to get the same problem. Should I demand a refund if I can't get a Rev02? The noise is driving me nuts. My elite sounds normal for an elite, but this is not what I expect of the slim

  • @thegreatman99

Others have noted similar performance between revisions but of course there is always variance in manufacturing that can affect these things. I'd see what consumer protection laws you country supports in regards to returning this faulty unit. In New Zealand, we can expect goods to perform the same as a demonstration mode and that is how I argued my case. Its completely unacceptable that one person can get a quiet console and someone else can get a noisy one. Both pay the same.

  • @60hurts I know for certain now that the later revisions (e.g. Rev B, C) are the power supplies that sound like jet engines. I took mine back to the store to get it replaced and I got a Rev 03. It's DEAD silent like my old elite power supply. Rev 02, 03 = silent. Rev B = loud POS, and probably A and C are the same.

Anyway, thanks for posting the video as it really helped me with my case.

  • @thegreatman99 Thanks for the tip on the rev 03.

  • @60hurts After some more time in use, the Rev 03 does start to kick in with the fans, but it's silent when doing a cold start like in this video. The Rev B's fans were going full blast even when doing a cold start and it was noticeably louder than the console, so the Rev 03 is still the better unit. I suppose the fans in all slim power bricks do ramp up, which can't be helped, but they differ in how loud they get.

  • @thegreatman99

Not true, I just bought a new Xbox S and I got the rev: 03, is very loud! First minutes is ok at best, after that is gets really loud.... I'm going to get a converter cable to be able to use my old Xbox PSU which is silent.

  • @zorro2b Rev 02 and 03 is as quiet as they get. The fans do get louder the longer your 360 is on but they're not as loud as you make them sound. Maybe not as quiet as the old PSU but still pretty quiet nonetheless. How loud they get also depends on your ambient temperatures, i.e. winter or summer etc. If you think the Rev 03 is loud, get your hands on a Rev B. You'll think the Rev 03 is quiet in comparison, which it is. Rev B is ridiculously loud.

  • @thegreatman99 I got my xbox 360 slim as a gift and I can't go back to the store and exchange my power supply. I have a Rev B and it is as loud as a jet. Any other way I can get a Rev 02 or 03?

  • @gr33kb0i94 The only other way would be to try give Microsoft Support a call and try and get them to replace it. You'll most likely have to send the power supply to them, meaning you won't be able to play your 360 till you get the replacement.

  • Can't wait til pan is back , I'm ditching this useless pile of crap. Ms suck

  • I've got a rev c and that's noisy too , a guy posted a yt link that shows how you can use an old pus on a slim and it's quiet , I'm gonna give it a go and see what happens

  • yeah, the power brick totally sucks

  • Does the REV02 PSU actually maintain that level of silence (even though it's not totally silent) after some gameplay time?

  • @djloftiproductions

No. It does however ramp up fairly evenly and maintains a pleasant enough sound even though it gets noticeably louder. Even at its peak level, its still quieter than the rev B.

  • what ever the last bit in the video is right at the end is better

  • @m0dm0use

The bit at the end is just some quick cutting back and forth between the two different consoles/bricks.
