Thanks so much for the wonderful 8mm video of your nice Italian family. I, too, grew up in a nice, loving Italian family and these treasured movies of your family make me think of mine. Happy holidays to you!
Boy do I miss those days. Christmas in the 1960's and 70's was so exciting. The lights and presents, visiting relatives, Christmas TV specials, the food. I never pictured myself today nearly 50, parents dead, unemployed, unmarried, in debt and doing the Christmas thing alone with my dog. If I had one wish it'd be I didn't have this stupid bipolar crap.
How wonderful! Being Italian we always had a big Christmas Eve dinner with the fishes. Then all the kids waited for Santa to come for a visit before bed, Santa was a member of the Italian club we belonged to. Then Christmas morning us 4 kids had to comb our hair, brush our teeth and line up in order of age to proceed downstairs with the bright lites of the 8mm camera in our eyes. Those were the best days of my life!
I was looking for some older Christmas tunes today when I came across your videos. I ended up watching a bunch of happy people I didn't even know...you guys! but in reality it could have been my own family..it took me back..loved watching this. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for posting this, I remember those wonderful early 60's Christmas celebrations so full of love and food and fun. Why did we get so far away from that?
my family is also from italy and im italian and i got alot of family here in california and some in new york and alot of family in italy so it's pretty cool being italian and having a big italian family this video is pretty cool though cause that's what italians and christmas is all about
Wow! Your movies look a lot like my home movies from the 60s. I feel like I'm watching my family. Was this filmed in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn by any chance?
That's fun to watch, and I like the little captions that go along with it.
I gotta get my folks to put their super-8 stuff on DVD. All sorts of stuff of us kids in the sixties and early seventies my grandfather filmed. There is also Disneyland and Knott's stuff in those reels someplace.
I MISS MY GRANDPARENTS, LOVE THIS VIDEO

Cool video...even though you were all on the East Coast it was pretty much the same for this Italian American family in California...
Thanks for posting and memories of when the world was not as complex as it is now...

That was so wonderful to watch. Anyone who wasn't raised in an Italian family doesn't know what they missed! It made me cry, really.
