My 06 600 katana will go from 0-60 in about 5-6 seconds and will run...well lets say fast enough to lose your license and your life. I'm 40 years old and this is my 3rd motorcycle and I am old enough to know how much is "enough". So go ahead and buy a 1300 hyabusa or some other fast race bike. Ride around doing wheelies and speeding to get some tail off mary jane rotten crotch and I will be still riding when you are in the morgue.

Katana is a great Bike. Its enough speed to get you up the highway, Not too muhc speed that will get you into some serious highway trouble.

Yeah I love my Katana its way cheaper and gets the job done. I have over 6k miles on it this summer alone. I have learned to corner, Brake,and manuever with this sport-tour. This Tex return i am buying a Suzuki Bandit 1200 motor and hopefully finishing the swap. power output from 73hp to 118hp. Still not Hayabusa range but definitely respectable.
^^ Why waste money on a canatuna.. took you 4 gears to get to 120, when my 600 does 120 midway thru 2nd gear. Not dissing your bike, but I think its not a very good starter bike or bike period. I've had mine faster than 135, was smooth as glass. It's a little heavier than gsxr's and others, this to me is nice though when riding longer distances, especially on the highway and at higher speeds.
It's a different kind of ride than a GSXR, or other "replica bike". They are fun as well, just a different style of riding. Find what you want.

If you are worried about top speed, don't bother getting a bike. It's not about speed, acceleration, it's about the ride. Katana's are nice, a bit heavy, but I wouldn't recommend as a first bike. Start smaller.

i just regeared my 96 to 14/47 with vortex sprockets and rk chain and it feels great.
is a great boost cause i ride it all day using for my motorcycle courier biz and couldnt be more comfy and speedy.
