  • great song, but I think that the solo performance by Mark is the best, I don't really like that tom doesn't sing in the rythm

  • toutes les versions sont aussi belles les unes comme les autres

    ça c'est de la music

  • So good, great song

  • So good!

  • great song

  • Charlie Rich.. OK, Tom Jones and Mark Knopfler outta sight!

  • I must say.... great rendition..... BUT, .... The "Man" Charlie Rich..alone only with his piano.... delivers the goods with this song. He just lays his soul out there........miss him truly....

  • A true English legend.

  • really fantastic solo

  • This is a soulful version..but perhaps the best is MK and Tom Jones, really beautiful.

  • your a bum note " Vemote " !!! Everything that man does is magic !!!

  • Fantastic, I went to that gig - thanks for posting!

  • Brendan Croker zingt het weer fantastisch!

    Thanks Brendan! Greetings from Maastricht!

  • Still great, but there were handful of bum notes in that solo.

  • the studio version was played on my mothers funeral. I love this version. thnx for posting it.

  • for footlover1979

I also want this song for my funeral ... so late as possible. :-)

  • Excellent. I was there...do you have any other video taken from that gig?

  • Yes I have a lot so check them all out =)

  • Chris white is great on this tune...adds a lovely wee touch to it on the sax!

  • The thing about the genius of Knopfler is that even the bad notes are good. Different class, thanks for the video, Brendan Croker is a legend

  • did he eh?

  • Did What ?

  • Mark must have practiced like mad before doing this song with Tom Jones.....He never played a note wrong with Tom! hahahaha

  • No, did he play a tone wrong in Sultans in Alchemmy ? ; )

  • Mark never has to practice any of his songs, hes a musical genius

  • Do you really believe what you're writing ô.O

Theres no musician in the whole world who doesn't practice his songs when playing in front of thousands of ppl.

And beeing a musical genius doesn't mean that you don't need to practice anymore, that'd be naiv and stupid.

I don't want to offense you but I think this is total bullshit :)

And other than that Mark is a wonderfull and talented guitar player!

  • I think Thomas Edison put it well, "Genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration".

  • your right in an recent interview mark said he loves writing, recording & rehursing songs!

  • Moving. Great song. More if you listen alone late on saturday night.

  • Listen to it on a saturday night 6,000 miles from home.

  • Wow,what a performance! great singing!
