  • use a belt man, of an Rc car... fully ballraced diff unit located under the spur gear, where you have the servo... then you could locate the servo maybe 20cm away and cover it in pipe insulation or summin.

  • This is one of the most used DIY Follow Focus but it's not enough accurate despite of its simplicity, i've build one which use a simple motor and a couple af gears WITHOUT any complexe electronic supply, i will post a vids soon !

  • That is exactly what I need I don't mind the noise if you can turn that into a sale I want one please keep me posted

  • Suggestion: see the special features disc (#7) for season 5 of 24, the series. There is a section done about the camera crew and a remote follow focus system they use. It was incredibly quiet, actually very silent.

  • @steeldustbronze "It was incredibly quiet", also incredibly expensive. One of those setups will put you back a few thousand dollars.

  • I would suggest to developp the remote with 2 buttons / or a simple 2 directions joystick : this will allow 1 single hand to control the focus with the Thumb, it could be extremely usefull while using a rig & moving handheld.

  • I'd be interested in buying one!

  • Yep this is something I am looking for

  • Dude, great concept, get it to Market ASAP. If you can make the housings out of decent materials with a good finish your on to a winner, especially if you can keep the price low. As for servo noise, you might be able to isolate it a little but most people using a product like this would be using external mics anyway. Good luck.

  • any intrest in showing a diagram of your bread board?

  • What is the servo model?

  • How much?

  • Nice concept. It is simple. The only problem I see with it is that the servo is loud.

  • All motors make noise. If you have any suggestions as to how to reduce or minimize the noise, I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks!

    Peter

  • @kairosweddingfilms Not all motors make noise, you should do a bit more research! You really have something going there! Keep it up!
