She oversaw the unnecessary death of thousands of people that she could have done far more to help, were she not so faithful in her 'loving god'. Someone who supervised 'houses of dying' should not be granted authority to speak about whether or not an abortion is murder, let alone preventing pregnancy through contraception.

Yes, it is, because it is against the wedding vows. At the altar, the husband and wife promised to give themselves fully to one another. Contraception is a way of 'holding back' your fertility, and thus damages the union of husband and wife.
Obviously, many Catholics today do not know or understand this, but prior to the 1920s, ALL Christian churches taught this. Contraception is gravely wrong.
