  • 4:26 - KIM CARNES

  • tan bonito canta michael!! y cyndi esa loca tambien canta bien!!!!!!! michael y cyndi forman bonita pareja nose pero me suena eso !!!!!lindos!!!!!!!

  • @emymummy

MJ wrote pretty much all of it. Lionel really just tweaked the lyrics a bit. Check out Michaels demo. Not much difference between his and this.

  • This song was written by Lionel and Michael.

  • i dont mean to be disrepectfull but i am bit confused...i thought micheal jackson wrote we are the world ???? forgive me if i am wrong just a bit confused??

  • @emymummy It was written by him and Lionel Richie

  • if only i was in that room. i'd jump on only one person. Smooth criminal.

  • Ooooh they sound bad. How in heck did some of them get contracts???

  • Notice Michael Jackson can't be found while Diana Ross is singing!

  • @Bodebodango...Of Course MJ Can't Be Found...He Sang His Solo Parts Without The Other Singers Present...Time Is Money...Camera Positions & Lighting In The Studio Make It Look As If He Is Singing With Or Near The Other Singers...May He Continue To R.I.P.

  • @Flake777 My God are you that stupid? I mean't they both look the same and they are obviously the same person! Thats who Michael always wanted to look like! Hence all the plastic surgery! Thanks for ruining my joke!

  • @Bodebodango...Yes, I Am Stupid...I Thought The MJ Jokes Died Off When He Passed...Especially Since Many Of Us Were Actually Living When This Video Was First Made...Some Of Us Show Respect For The Deceased, But Than Again, Some Of Us Who Are Still Wet Behind The Ears Still Have Some Growing Up To Do...I Guess That Person Is Me. I am Sorry.

  • Comment removed

  • @Flake777 That joke is as old as MJ's first child molestation payoff!

  • @Bodebodango MJ couldn't be found because he had already recorded his part much earlier while many of them were still at the awards show, before this recording. STevie also recorded some of his before. I guess you could call it cheating or getting a head start.

  • @Pllm30 That was a joke by the way!

  • @Bodebodango Oh, is that so? lol

  • @Pllm30 yes! They always said you never saw the 2 at the same time at the same place!Thats why Michael made himself look like her,and white!

  • @Pllm30 Yes!

  • @Pllm30...Let's Not Sweat It...Bodebodango Wasn't Around When The Classic Was Made...He'll Never Understand...I Tell Ya, Those Kids These Days...SMH

  • i love the part where cyndi finally finally finally nails her part perfectly and kim carnes is shaking her head as if cyndi sounds like crap...that's the take they used on the record and in the video for the song..kim shaking her head for all eternity

  • lol damn this is a rrrrrough take....sounds like a bunch of voices at 2am

  • So much talent in the one room..so many of the songs over the ages released by each individual which I listen to...it's a dream come true to have all singing and contributing to the same song.

  • michael sings it like its nothing and the other repeat it like 20 times hahahahaha noobs

  • Eu sou fã de todos, são tão profiossionais e competentes, esse charme das músicas dos anos 80 parece não voltar mais

  • who was tht irked by cindy's noisy bungles?

  • this is where pop began and it will always be at.

i wish the 80's would come back.(as well as Michael)

  • ♪♫Now THis Is WhatI Call Music♫♪

  • Daryl Hall pitch perfect as always.

  • Never before this time all these talents. Forever.

  • @Watergirl1999 it was live. if you listen to the actual video you will see that what you hear on this vid, is not the same! They were singing for real.

  • As God has shown us by turning stone to bread ...

Interesting line. I guess none of these people ever read a bible, kindly supposing the blatant error hasn't been slipped in ON PURPOSE...

Well the world CERTAINLY is looking a lot brighter today! The camera's are wonderful, and only a billion starving now..

  • just gotta love these people! the simply are music!

  • Why does not Huey Lewis take notice of Cyndi? lol

BTW Cyndi Lauper is much cooler than Madonna.

  • I LOVE CYNDI LUAPER I AM OBSESSED WITH HER 5:52 to 6:08

  • @cyndilauperidol me too

  • The japanese commnetary in the background just cracks me up! Cyndi is so cyndi in the making of we are the world! All of the singers are just awesome in this song! And you all are right poor Michael..If only I had been there I would have been saying to him..."Mr. Jackson, you are one great singer, and also is there anyway I could have everyone's autograph?"< Ooh and a picture too?

  • hey frinds i search the complete story i lost that , i know the complete doc was on Youtube i dont find it can u help me ? part one and two i have it ....

    thanks @ll

  • Cyndi Lauper is so cute.

  • Wow, never thought I can see this documentary. :). And yes, no artificial sound.

  • i love the voice of cyndi lauper and steve perry

  • why does it have to be in japanese -_-

  • daryl hall the best!

  • does anyone else notice that Michael is just standing in the corner all alone and quite and no one is talking to him. If i could just go back in time, and be atleast 23 yrs old. he would totally have someone to talk too.

  • @98ft he's not like diddy who demands attention he's still attention, mike was so humble he didn't need a 200 person entourage but i wud talk to him too

  • @98ft No one talking to Michael. I noticed that too, but ppl feel vibes. When Michael was working he didn't want to be bothered like that. The other stars sensed that, so they gave him his space. Michael wasn't all sociable all the time. He was about work and self discipline.

  • @Pllm30 everibody try to be there only he was not

  • Cyndi Lauper was so sexy them days

  • Steve Perry ♥

  • michael's voice was the stongest to me. n not because he's gone why I say that bit ever since I was I little girl I love watching him teach them how to sing a sertin part in the song! lol that guys that had to sing after mike was like "WTF" you want me to sing after that mj's like "I can't help no no no I can't help if I wanted to" lol

  • This might be a good video if that fucking gook wasn't flapping his gums in the background.

  • That's Huey Lewis? I thought Bruce was doing the harmony with Kim and Cindy

  • Bealthifull.....very very very very .....rsrs it`s talents...

  • i already watched the making of we are the world in the 1985, and i can't forget the time the engineer told cyndi lauper to remove her dangglings for noise interruption during the taping lol........... she was really pissed off

  • q bella es cindy lauper

  • michael sei il re.....

  • This was quite funny :)

  • cindy lauper !! :O

  • They actually had to stop taping several times because she got pissed at the others for laughing at her singing...lol

  • Seriously? lolololol :))

  • @nontrog cyndi you mean??

  • cyndi lauper was kind of scary O.o

  • Michael Jackson and Dionne Warwick have the best voices out of them all

  • a parte d michael jackson-....me gusta Steve Perry...jejeee

  • Y IS IT IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE! AHHH!

  • read the description

  • well im srry im an idiot!

  • you should be

  • wonder how come madonna wasnt in this one?

  • they all sound so great :D ^__^ I love all the classic artists :D Michaels voice was the most powerful :D

  • OMF MICHAEL AT 3:40 is too cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • lmao cindy loper is a little crack head haha but we love you michael

  • the only ones that sound almost like in the final video are steve perry and mj

    creat vid thx for uploading

  • mj doesn't really screws up live performances, no fanboy, just saying

  • q lindo y divertido es este detras de camara

  • yes this song is better to me, and YES definetly all the artist on this one are GREAT, but in the new one there are good ones too, not all of them are disposable, pussy cat dolls? enrique iglesias? the girl/boy that starts the song?... my point is that , that's the way to reach to younger minds, sadly.

  • Nobody can beat the original!!! Steve Perry...the best!!!

  • these are the people who doesn't need autotune.

  • True talent it is, chap.

  • Gosh, I thought only American Idol contestants suck. Real artistes also suck during practice. Good video and thanks for uploading, btw.

  • Watch my video. It's about Earth changes.

Continental Drift: One huge supercontinent, became 2 continents, then 5 (or 6) and then?

I wonder, did we missed something when the continents were 2?

    watch?v=j7I_eFoIk64

  • The Original Rules! I hear everyone saying the new one is better with better artists.

How can you say that about the talented people that were involved in the original. All The Top Musicians at the Time, that still fill stadiums and have huge fan followings.

  • @starseuss i agree with you. The new one is great, but it just doesnt have that unique quality that the old one had. People like stevie wonder, Michael Jackson and lionel richie will always be better than justin beiber, miley cyrus, etc.

  • i love the "bridge people" line....peace!

  • My 2-cents for the new generation. Insist on quality in your singers. It's way to easy to become one these days. Only when you insist will your true talented "artists" appear. YOUR Springsteins, Tina Turners, Willie Nelsons, Ray Charles....Don't fall for the gimmicks. They're out there, I'm sure. You just have to get rid of the frauds. And train yourselves to tell the difference.

  • atlist michael sound good im sorry

  • STEVE PERRY THE GREATEST!!!

  • I wish there were English subtitles for the announcer--the only Japanese I could make out was "Lionel Richie-ka" at :14

  • Comment removed

  • So great to see a "behind-the-scenes" view of the making of the first "We Are The World" song and video. It's interesting to see how some of the lead vocals are different from the finished song.

Now there is a new "We Are The World" song for Haiti, and that is a good thing in itself, but nothing will top the original, amazing song.

  • michael jackson was the bestest !!

  • I'm 19 turning 20 but i love the music from the 60's,70's,80's,&90's. That music just lives in you man! Unlike the music now it's jus full of artists that are gimmicks!

  • love the first version and love the second version. It would be nice if both were available together

  • now this is real talent. no studio enhancments at all. we will never have voices like this again.

  • @jerjuant Every artist was a star in their own right.

  • @jerjuant Trust me I aqm the biggest supporter of all of them and i am obsessed with mj, but the song was pre recorded and enhanced. They filmed this and they sang it to make it look real and then they lay the recording over the video. That's how they make all videos.

  • Love seeing Cyndi Lauper during this working on her vocals. Her vocals in this version are infamous!

  • the background vocal is micheals

  • looking forward to hearing the new version of this song...Lionel brought some new singers together..

  • i love ancient music...very much...and the singers....OMG! at this era, i dont like their songs nor i remember the lyrics...the hit songs now are only good for 1 day you'll forget the next day unlike the old music you remember it by heart! trust me, am not that old! BTW, they had all the big stars in this version! what's with the new 1?? OMG!

  • 80s rock....noman can replace the 80s music..luv from me...

  • hands down. michael was the best.

  • I guess you never heard Steve Perry sing.Listen to his song "she's mine",for instance.

  • @helimech60 boy, im from the bay area, of course i've heard him sing. but he can't see michael jackson.

  • i was 10 years old when this song was a HIT! OH I LIKE 80'S SINGERS AND OF COURSE THEIR MUSIC!

  • Cyndi Lauper (L

  • Ok...heres what bothers me about these so called "singers" today. Look at this group of people. These voices are unique amungst other things. They are all so different. I dont see nor more importantly do I HEAR anything simulare anymore. To many trying to sound like Christina, Mariah, Carrie, Daughtry...theres nothing original anymore..more so its all about looks. Not talent. I have given up on todays music. Originality like this is to great to do over!

  • Let me say....bringing all these artists, talents together back then was pure genius. So many differnt voices and personality's that obviousley shown thru the song. I never realized back then that I was watching history. I honestly feel that they should have just re-released it. For Haiti along with the 25th anniversary. This can not be re-made..sometimes it IS best to leave things be. This is one of them. We will never again HEAR and SEE talent like this again. Once in a lifetime...

  • Bruce Springsteen n Cindy Lauper rock this track.. all of'em are really good, tho..

  • I love "The Bridge People"!

  • A mountain of talent, can't WAIT to hear 2010's

    version!

My only hope that the talent is just as diverse as this one!

That's what made it so special before, and hope that this helps

    the people in Haiti!

  • Michael's the best hehe.

  • I just love Huey Lewis and Cyndi Lauper...my favourite part of the song actually!!!!

  • @ErnestoAH i think michael and stevie wonder are the best... cyndi is good too though

  • cyndis second take is so good.

  • that was certainly the definitive one!!!

  • steve perry un grande del canto...

  • whew! love being able to c mj in action. he's amazing! like the song version of cindi lauper better..here ahe just sounds dry..idk. love bruce!

  • actually they are all pretty damn good !!!!!...MJ and Lauper and Perry are particurly good

  • @bartlemy lauper in the first take did not sound good lol. michael jackson and stevie are great..... i love their voices

  • @handbrakemaster To be honest all the artists on this record (and most of them in that era) were real artists with disctinct and unique talents. Unlike today the fake X Factor type balladeque rubbish in the charts.

  • @bartlemy oh i agree. the artists then were FANTASTIC. i love their individuality, and this single song captures all of them perfectly. i cannot believe they are remaking this... with the disney brats. ugh they are going to destroy the magic of this song. something like this needs to be left alone and not remade

  • Those idiots will ruin a perfectly good tune. Just re-release the tune, dont 'remake' it !!!

  • @bartlemy i agree. they should have just re- released it... or released a different version of it with some of the recordings that they didnt use. miley will trash this song :(

  • @bartlemy:

I agree completely. Back then, the music itself was showcased. It was the real star as it should be. These days, it's all about "Look at ME" and it's a turn-off. Besides, the overall musical talent these days is absolutely pathetic.

  • I know I don't know maybe they could have thrown in some major chart divas if they were going to remake it like Mariah, or Christina, Destiny's Child, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Britney?

  • stevie wonder bruce springsteen steve perry an michael hands down

  • Cyndi Lauper is hilarious!

  • Me gusto la parte ensayada varias veces de Michael, Cindy, Huey Lewis y Kim Carnes y de como logran el resultado final... muy profesionales ...Mi admiracion

  • Is there an english version of this??

  • Michael Jackson and Steve Perry are the best !!! :D:D

    best singers in this

  • Tina missed her queue by half a beat. :/

  • cyndi lauper my hometown girl ten times the soul of any ordinary mortal

  • Breaking News: Michael Jacksons doctor, Conrad Murray, administered a drug that authorities believe killed Jackson, a source says.

  • micheal jackson is the best singer in the group and the cutest!!

  • hahah omg Cyndi's voice is hilarious.lmao.

  • Very nice track. I did not Cyndi's "singing" at all. It hurts my ears.

égeted a maradék normális magyar embereket is...

  • kenny loggins ,steve perry and darryl hall

    simply awesome

    simply amazing

    simply the best

  • Cyndi Lauper really screwed up!

  • Michael the best...4ever...

  • michael the best of al!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :p

  • i like when micheal jackson sings best

  • steve perry is ,was, and shall be the best...

  • i agree, but he´s also the cutest !!

  • Here are 45 legendary performers who united as USA for AFRICA (United States Artists for Africa) in January, 1985. Harry Belafonte & Ken Kraedon (Lionel's manager) founded the humanitarian aid organization.

Michael J & Lionel Richie wrote WE ARE THE WORLD & Quincy Jones orchestrated the production, which took over three months to complete. His genius overcame myriad production problems, such as getting the best voice for each line of lyrics & getting rid of the CLANG from Cindy's earrings. ;D

  • steve perry is good :D

  • did michael jackson turn up l8 xx luvs ya mj xxxxx

  • Tinaaaaaaaaaa foreveeeeeeeeer

  • there was a flaw in the first MJ shoot , that is why he repeat i think , it was almost imperceptible , it is the piano over the high tone

  • the kid was shaheen jafragohli from wales in the UK

  • Cyndi was so funny and cute in this video.

  • 5:45 is Huey Cyndi and Kym's GO TAKE that ended up on the track. Michael's takes are all faultless they could have used any of them.
