@ManicHispanic24 Lol man, the good old days of that. I was about the same age with the same computer. 8 megs of ram, with the 486 processor. Doom pushed it to it's limit.
have you tried out Chex Quest 3 yet? The official one, not the fan one made a few years back. But the one made by one of the design team members? it's awesome. :)
I had this game as a kid, from an actual Chex cereal box. I played through it a few times, until the cd broke when I rolled over it with a chair. I didn't know about it being just a modified WAD file. And I don't remember the music. I think my computer may have not had MIDI capability. I also find it funny how I discovered all of the secrets of the game on my own as a young kid, without looking up a guide.
Do those basic unarmored slime critters even do anything other than just wander around and look/sound terrified when you start zapping them? I kind of felt bad for them.
nice video my man, i remember this game i always used to play it over my grandmoms when i was like 7. this video brings back so many memories i love it lol
Doesn't Chex Quest, contain the rest of the Ultimate DOOM episodes? I thought I read about that somewhere, but since only Episode 1 was done on Chex Quest 1, the rest of the other episodes were unreplaced Ultimate DOOM content, music ,etc.. The only thing they changed where the end episode text.
You can play as the Chex Warrior on modern source ports, that use skins. It's pretty funny.
That's true. Actually, only the first 5 maps of the first episode were replaced, the rest was left unmodified. They look weird anyway because the textures and the other things were replaced. Well, this happens if you don't create your IWAD from scratch :)
Yeah.. I also read that because Chex Quest did that, it was very easy for people to create a full working version of Ultimate DOOM, by copying the Episode 1 content from the shareware and carefully putting it back into the Chex Quest .WAD file.
The way Chex Quest was made, reminds me of this awesome TC called Aliens TC by Justin Fisher.. It was the first modified WAD I played and it was the one I really liked too.
I always felt that the environments in Doom were way too abstract...But Chex Quest's levels were always clearly defined. The Hangar level has ships and open sky, the lab has computers and equipment.
I still have the disc for this. If I'm not mistaken, the cheat codes were the last names of the developers.
You can google them, they're on several Chex Quest fan sites. If you use a modern DOOM source port, you might want to look for Chex Quest 3, it also contains the maps of the first two games.
I'm sorry that I don't provide any links in the video descriptions, but it's hard to keep an eye on them if you have more than a few videos :/
Chex Quest brings back so many memories for me. I remember getting the CD in a box of Chex (actually, I think my brother was the one who asked for the cereal), but I certainly remember playing the game on our old Windows 3.1. Such a good game.
I haven't thought of this game in years

I had horrible nightmares when I was 6. Since I played this game, Alien movies scare me more than any horror movie.
