It was on the Poguetry in Motion EP with The Body of An American and A Rainy Night in Soho. That is some genius releasing those 3 songs all at once. Happily sitting in my record collection in nice 12" vinyl ;o)
I always thought it was " the devilment took me...." but you're probably right. Especially when he sings later " the light was going out the moon was dying...".
he got in on a scholorship for his amazin writing which we'ver seen for years. he got kicked out of the only good school he went to after like a month.
Haha yeah I think Im gonna start writing music when Im drunk. I cant get enough of streams of whiskey when Im out drinking tho that song is perfect for gettin fkd up
London Girl, Rainy Night in Soho, Misty Morning Albert Bridge...boy, do the Pogues sing about London well or what? Gotta be as good as The Clash. Oh my beautiful city...
I wonder where this one's been published? Can't find it on any of their regular LPs, does anybody know the answer? Is it only available on some of the Best Of collections? Thanks !
@NorCalGustav It is also available on the Poguetry In Motion EP, which is available as both a 7" vinyl and a single-sided 12" vinyl on Stiff Records. Both versions have four songs; London Girl, A Rainy Night In Soho, The Body Of An American, and Planxty Noel Hill.
I think Shanes's performace here is good, but that of the band is ecellent. The maturityof the band is begining to show through with its tightness compared ro RRFM and RSATL. Imagine Shane trying to sing London girl now...its tough to say it but he would ruin one of his best now.
I actually heard him sing it when he was in Chicago this year, and your correct his singing aint up to par to when this was recorded. But the best part was that everyone in the audience sang every song with him... most amazingly nostalgic show I've seen.
My fave Pogues tune - from the EP. Pure class no doubt. ;)
