  • ***TECHNICAL BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE***

  • 5 stars! Are you using a modification of the Duarte?

Also a recording would be a great addition, I would buy one

  • I was hurrying through videos looking for another piece, but I couldn't stop listening to this enchanting performance! ♥

  • you play awesome. may i know which version u are using? koonce?

  • Beautifully played. Very inspiring. There is a wonderfully graceful flow to your movements.

  • out of the ordinary guitar, funny faces :)

  • Fantastic performance=))) Amazing tune!!!

  • Great use of cross string trills!

Also I like your dynamic interpretation and tone!

    Amazing (I'm starting this suite)

  • This is such a wonderful piece of music. Working on this on the mando. Way fun to play. I like the additional ornamentation. Superb performance. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great Matthew love all the pieces you play J S Bach was one of the worlds greatest composers and your playing of this piece is so wonderful .

  • I Love this movement on cello, but your guitar gives it a whole new range of dynamics. love it

  • Awesome, love it

  • For me this performace is on par with YoYo Ma's. The best I have heard for classical guitar for certain! If you ever happen to perform in Vienna, please let me know.

  • Excellent.

  • Lovely as always, Matthew. Did you make the transcription or is it Duarte's?

  • Very nice. How is the guitar supported on your right leg? Are you just holding it up or do you have one of those supports?

  • Fantástico. Muy disfrutable tu ejecución. Felicitaciones

  • good work superb haaarika

  • Right on!

Great sound, and very nice playing! The guitar we see behind you, is it an 8-string? It looks amazing, i dream to be playing on one of those :O

  • Great solo by Bach in a excellent playing with clear and brilliant sound! Congratulations*****

  • This is my favorite part of the Suite; thank you, I loved it! Very light and cheerful-sounding.

  • Very nice! Love it!

  • Bellissima esecuzione di un bellissimo brano dell'insuperabile BACH

  • HE is playing in the key of D Major. The original for cello is in G Major

  • Grazie per la precisazione

  • thanks

  • Hi man !! you play amazing !!!! so nice !!

    juan

  • very nice. what key are you playing in?

  • the key of D Major

  • Brilliant playing as usual Matthew. Bass notes sound excellent.

  • Bit too slow for me, but my taste is really fast like YoYo's (about q=120), and I think this performance is very cool and musical, notably the articulation. I play the cello btw.

  • wow!!!!

    congratulations!!!

I wish i could play bach like that

    hehehehe

  • I can play that!...yeah, right!...;)

Great job on a very difficult piece. Nice sounding guitar as well.

  • oh man soo great.but the bass note at the end of 1:25..WHY DIDNT U HOLD IT LONGER..WHYYY

    T__T...

    very nice indeed

  • Hi Matthew, great playing here, I can't help but notice your guitar position. It's not supported by your left leg like traditionally. Do you support the guitar between your right arm and your right leg?

    Regards,

    Vernon

  • behind YOU**

  • WOW.. brilliant touches bro so amazing for real, I love Bach so much..

would u please tell me what is the Exact Name if that guitar behind

Plz inform me with every single thing about it.. Thanks

  • Julian bream was very good at bringing Bach into the present moment and this player is also very good at this. He obviously really enjoys the music and can bring it alive in the same way that Bream could. Very enjoyable to listen to.

  • Thank you very much!

  • @tomophirwedge Well said!! I was going to be lazy and just stick with the Prelude, but after hearing this I think I'll learn it and some more of the suite. Inspiring!

  • dude can u add a video showing how to do that trills??

  • Will do!

  • Great, i like how you do the trills. Please publish more interpretations of J.S.Bach.

  • Thank you, I will do!

  • subscribed ! :) sounded beautiful and the guitar looks really nice!

im trying to teach my self classical guitar at the moment.

im starting out just learning abit of sight reading in first position.

i was wondering if thats the main goal to be working towards, or is it more to try to learn lots of good pieces by heart or learn to improvise by knowing lots of theory ?

sorry strange question, i just dont realy know where im headed to be honest. it all seems abit open.

    thanks alot for any help!

  • Thank you Bobby!

    Find yourself a good teacher!

  • Matthew, I always love Bach suite for solo Cello, and this BWV 1007 is my fave. How amazing your guitar playing, so emotionally, and again I notice how the beautiful tones clearly come from your fingers... Just wait for your recording which will include the whole suite Matthew, you're a great guitar player!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • It's simply wonderful!!! YOU ARE A GREAT GUITARIST!

  • Thank you!

  • A lovely and distinguished take on Bach's Courante. By the way, it appears that you're not just holding the guitar, you're making love to it ;-)

You've earned yourself a friend and a fan.

    Cheers!

  • Thank you!

  • Hello that well you interpret the works I am close to initiate my classes of classic guitar, but not that it(he,she) marks or class of guitar to choose. If you could give me some advice(council) of a marca for beginners or rather a bit experienced so(then, since) I have some knowledge and in addition I interpret it(he,she) violates and violin, I do not believe that I am going to be complicated so much.

  • i don't know, sounds really good but adding a bassline to bach in order to "enhance it" just never convinces me no matter who does it, be it you or julian bream.

  • Yes it is an interesting issue of taste. Sometimes I feel it really works and other times it is not required. Bach gave so much of his material multiple orchestrations and instrumentations plus subtle changes in the actual notation to fit various purposes throughout his musical life. I find it interesting that there are so many different transcriptionsa and of Bach's music. Having so many options open to the players instills a freedom not often offered with other composers.

  • oh i agree completely. especially being guitarists i find it interesting that he himself transcribed for example from instruments such as the violin to the lute. I just think that, being such a bach nut as i am, it just feels kind of impure, if you will, when bass notes are added or anything of that nature if bach had not done so in a similar manner on a certain piece.

  • Wonderful playing nice tone and all the voices are very clear! Not just this video but for all your playing.

I also am curious to see how you hold the guitar which is quite unique. How do you hold it still?

  • Thank you William. I hold the guitar with a mixture of many parts of my body, arms, right thigh, sometimes my chin!

  • I had heard this piece but was never familiar with the title. You have inspired me to pick up the piece first thing I do when I get home (since I'm currently on vacation).:] My only fear is that the only reason I believe I can take on such a piece is because you make it seem so effortless. Amazing playing.

  • I am glad you are inspired, enjoy your vacation and good luck with the piece when you get home!

  • That's a great sounding guitar! Nice playing also!

  • Glad you like the sound!

  • love bach. i played a few years ago, the prelude, the allemande and the zarabande of the same suite for cello. you play it very good, so it seems to be very easy, but it isnt.

    sorry for my english

  • Thank you.

  • dang! your hard core! keep up the great videos!

  • Thanks!

  • Hi friiend, it's the best guitat version i've ever heard.

  • Thanks you!

  • fantastic! I love it. thanks

  • Thanks!

  • Beautiful playing. A gorgeous, warm tone.

I have to ask though! Why did you forego the traditional footstool or newer balancing aids? What do you gain from holding the guitar like that? I'm very curious. It actually looks quite natural!

  • Thank you jconway! I feel much closer to the music playing in this way, I also use the Dynarette cushion at times for more support but in this video I am not using any balancing aids just my arms and legs.

  • Matthew... that was amazing! I just can repeat what I already said.. it´s a pleasure to listen to you playing...

  • Glad you enjoyed the Bach!

  • Wow, you are a really good guitarist Matthew. It looks so easy the way you play. I know - it´s not!

Thanks for the invite - I´m honored and accept with pleasure!

All the best with 5 stars

    Sabine

  • Thank you Sabine!

  • Thank you Sabine!

  • Great interpretation!

  • Thanks.

  • Excellent interpretation!

  • Thanks you Aducal.

  • Ideal interpretation of this piece!!! Your precision is really impresive!!! Separation of voices simply examplary!!!

All the best and 5 stars,

    Slawek

  • Thanks for listening Slawek!

  • its interesting the way you hold the guitar. i like your sound, you seperate the bass from the melody really good. =]

  • Thank you.

  • Nice one Matt!

  • Thanks!!

  • Great! Do you use any aid to keep the guitar in that position?

    Johan

  • Hello Johan,

No supports just balancing the instrument with my body naturally, similarly to other classical instrumentalists.

    Matthew

  • Hello Matthew,

Nice to see a new video. Great playing! And nice sound, too. You must be really happy with that guitar!

    Best regads,

    Jolina
