I used to love this show growing up and would anxiously anticipate when exactly the world spinning in space would come on each day. I never got tired of that and wish they still used it today. It has such an effect on the drama of the show.
I do wish someone could find the November 1986 episode where James came back from the "dead" at the castle McKechnie, and greeted Barbara with a "Hello, Barbara." That would also be from the same time period when Margo lost the her and Tom's baby, as well. I also wish that I could see a couple of episodes with the young actress who played Emily just before Melanie Smith, because for some reason I don't remember her.
I knew McDermott's name, I just don't remember her characterization of Emily. I think Melanie is still acting, although in limited roles. I'm sure I've seen her in a few guest roles over the years, I think this year she was on either one of the CSI's or Law & Order's (but it might have been the last two years or so for that).
OMG seeing this and remembering Barbara with the same hairdo for almost 30 yesrs and remembering she once let her hair grow and it was in the mid 80s. I do remember Melanie Smith who I liked as Emily but I have grown to accept Kelly Menighan (which I always say the blonde Emily cause the previous Emily weren't blondes). The funny thing is that its funny to see how Emily and Barbara became enemies cause of Barbara having Emily (among with Rose and Carly) kidnapped.
Well, Emily (with Menighan-Hensley in the role) became more vicious and ruthless business wise for a while in the mid/late-1990's and that didn't help to endear her to Barbara either. A lot of tit-for-tat has been going on between the two of them ever since the time period shown here with the fact Emily and Barbara kept a lot of secrets about James.
These classic episodes from the 80s are hands-down THE BEST--when ATWT was in its heyday and Doug Marland was head writer for the show. I watched off and on in the mid-80s and was an avid fan from about 1987 to 1995. Sorry to say, it just wasn't the same after Mr. Marland's death and I drifted away from VCRing it.
In This Clip, From 3:29 To 4:05, It Was "As The World Turns" Video Open From October 22, 1987.

I believe that Emily, just before Melanie Smith, was played by Colleen McDermott. Does anyone know what Melanie is up to these days?

Melanie Smith who portrayed "Emily" at this time was a major HOTTIE. I do not like the current actor.

I loved Melanie as the Cardassian woman on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", as well. I so had the hots for her myself in the late 1980's/early 1990's.
