This projector is so awesome! We have taken it with us everywhere: hotel, grandma's, school, friend's sleep over...and it's ultra easy to use! All we need is a USB flashdrive to play movies that we download from the internet. BenQ is the ONLY company that makes an LED mini projector with a USB reader, so the Joybee is unparalleled! And the convenience is unbelievable. You don't need a dvd player or laptop to enjoy movies...just the USB flashdrive. Makes packing for the hotel super easy!
This is a great portable projector and one of the best currently available on the market. Just note one thing esp. if u compare it to 'normal' projector. This is a LED projector and thus needs much less lumens to display a good picture. The GP1 has 100 lumens which is enough to throw a 60 inch image to the wall. LED technology also generates much more colorful pictures in general. So this is a cool device which provides a good value for the money.
100 lumens might not be as bad as imagined since this is a "LED" projector. 100 lum sounds weak since even around 10 years ago when the 1st less- than-10 lbs portable projector came to market it was already 300 Lumens. But, I have seen a 100 lumens "LED" projector in person and was in fact very surprised by its brightness.
Forget 300 lumens, the sony vpl-px1 was 8 pounds and 1000 lumens (measured by me so its accurate).
However, you need to think about the projectors use. Contrast ratios suffer terribly by even the faintest amount of ambient light, and thats even with 1000 lumens. I can't imagine a 100 lumen projector coping well with any ambient light at all, which is probably where it'll be used as hardly every portable area has nice light control.
its lcd, chromatism performance is completly different from those projectors that uses conventional lamps, so a 100 lumens lcd projector will perform very similar to a convential 1000 lumens one.
I would be interested when they multiply the light output by 20. Unless the room is completely dark or you're shooting on a 20" screen 100 lumens is a joke.
