  • seananners?

  • I would also like to be your student.

  • How can someone dislike this?

  • @karictomi I know right The dislikes must be some wierd people !

  • what dose diet pills have to do with swords? just to asking

    .

  • Music at the end is by Mono's "Walking clouds and deep red sky, flag fluttered and the sun shined" album and the name of the song is "16.12"

  • koreans had more skills but they killed other country's sword or ceramics masters in past. japan was very weak country without gun and modern weapon. even they couldn't defeat the korean 13 warships with 300 warships in the first war.

  • only the japs...or koreans...or whatever the fuck

  • Man those swords are so beautiful D:

  • cool

  • I love how this guy isn't whining like Kill bill's hattori hanzo.

  • i want a sword made by him... :(

  • As a metallurgist I can do nothing but view in awe at the delicate heat treat and forge applied by this craftsman to produce such a magnificent hand crafted blade. This quality definately makes them a true family heirloom.

  • @Phartomatic its not passed down in the family, but just disciples that they pick

  • MUSIC is LUV! Youtube/REGGIEWRITEOUS

  • @JesusPaid4You This guy's sword can cut your god in half.

  • @JesusPaid4You

nigguh please. you're trolling too hard

  • sad thing is it is very hard to make money as a sword smith i'm fixing to make some hand made swords for the rpga and recreation sociaty's but i wonder how hard it would be to sell them to an online market... i wonder if that is how this guy makes his money

  • @Eyeslayer I'm sure that he has a reputation and doen't need the internet... Can you imagine all those hardcore Japanese fans that would pay a tonne to own that? Or business men looking for super expensive presents/wall pieces? :/ Lately I've been more convinced that an artist's life isn't as rough as I'd imagined... Maybe you can set up a stall at fantasy conventions and hand out some flyers...

  • Thumbs up if you wan't to see more videos like this one! Because I know I do!

  • i may be american, but ive always been very fascinated in the japanese culture, i hope this tradition of sword making never dies.

  • i watched this a few weeks ago and for some reason i watched it again

  • almost all from asian decent age wonderfully and gracefully. all us white ppl end up lookin like shriveled up raisins.

  • @MrRain458 :D That's not true. ^^

  • I would buy his sword for 50 grand rather than buy fake shit sword at the store for 3k

  • Does he own like a shop that sells his swords? How much?

  • @sharkl11 My relatives bought a Katana from him not so long ago. It depends what you want from Tanto around 30 cm to Wakizashi 60 cm to Katana which is like 70 cm or could be longer. The Tanto is around 400,000 yen or roughly 5,100. Wakizashi is medium and around 7,700. The Katana is the longest and it goes to like 13-20,000 roughly. Thats not including accessories like hand guard, case, etc. You get a simple handle and case what your paying for is the blade.

  • @TheGodGhost Ö I wanna be rich later in life too. :/

  • Many sword makers now make chef knives with the same style.

  • I love how japanese keep embracing their culture.

  • when a zombie apocalypse occur, I will buy a sword from this man... I'm serious

  • @TheGnim noob , you must buy before the zombie apocalypse occurs.

  • @TheGnim

honestly a katana would be a bad chose for a zombie apocalypse. You have to take care of them or else they end up breaking. Honestly just carry around a giant broadsword or some shit. Those can take a beating... or better yet get a gun.

  • @EdwardNS1 You're right. Real Japanese swords are delicate because they aren't dobbins but thoroughbreds. They perform well in an affair of honor. They aren't suitable for cutting zombies and meat.

  • Respect

  • Finally a SHARP vid !

  • i want that sword!!!! :_o omg sow awsom!!!!

  • @JesusPaid4You Oh shut up about this God and Jesus mumbo-jumbo and post your comment where it would actually make sense. Better yet, don't post it at all

  • 铸剑师

  • I enjoyed this intimate profile of sword making. American and Japanese interpretations of swords can be over-dramatically and swim under so much nationalism. This was dispossessed of those traits. Although I admire Watanabe's passion and desire to maintain traditional sword-making, it is ultimately impractical and meaningless. Smiths do not craft swords for warriors of battle anymore. Watanabe's blades probably end up gathering dust upon the altars of American lofts owned by rich businessmen.

  • @thehumblepacifican Ultimately meaningless? It is an art. Is all art meaningless? That's like saying Da Vinci and every engineer inspired by art are meaningless. Like Van Gough and Dali are meaningless. Like the Sistine Chapel has never struck wonder into a person. Like the world's best photographs of the wonders of the world are useless.

    You're stupid.

  • @RBIVscreamtherequiem weee lets not be bothered by little kids roaming youtube... they have no respect and no dignity... not to mention the knowledge of the fact that its very value is incredibly rare.

kids will be kids... learning to troll and maybe living in the streets after 12 years.

  • Magnifico !

  • fuck em, lets bomb em!! again...hehehe

  • some day ima buy one

  • i WANT it SOOOOOOOOOO BAD

  • Did I just learn something? On YouTube??

  • im sure roronoa zoro likes you

  • If i wasnt a lazy fat american I would absolutely take up this craft, it seems so amazing to be able to pass your passion into a hunk of metal and create something so beautiful and balanced and pure.

  • 1:20 typical asian parents :)

  • watch?v=ysNd4QGOgeY

  • wtf...did i just learn something?

  • @helloploxxd my guess is that you are american... LEARNING EST GOOD DA?

  • how much does one cost?

  • those are the kind of people that are going to survive the Zombie apoclypse

  • NINJAS

  • 2:53 i thought it said wannabe's desiciple

  • aww i so want a real sword just to have would be so awesome~

  • This was interesting to watch.

  • more like disciple wanabie

  • Wow. That was really amazing. What discipline and depth! If only that sort of understanding of Life could be passed on to the rest of the world, we might have something more than we do these days. People really need to pay attention to his ideas..

  • anyone know the name of the song?

  • /bow

  • So... he didn't seem to address whether he could really make a living out of this or not - I'm curious if he can.

  • @mushyeyes He does. He's saying it's not easy.

  • @mushyeyes one sword will cost about $900 (to buy) or more im not sure :P but this is a rough price

  • @TheFadingPanda no, much much more, 900$ is about the price of a cheap chinese replica, but REAL authentic japanese katana can go for over $200,000...

  • AAaaaaaa!!!! Yaaaattaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

  • old japanese dudes with their gray beards look so badass

  • if its quality is very good, people will buy it. don't think it is a stupid job. people love good quality products.

  • Sometching amaizing, I see that for Japanese people, Katana is sometching more then just a weapon, its more like sacrum.

  • To nie sochy naszą sławną ziemię orały, naszą ziemię rozkopały końskie kopyta, naszą sławną ziemię głowy Kozackie usiały, hej Ty ojcze, cichy Donie, hej Ty ojcze czemu toczysz mętną falę?

  • I hope this tradition never truly dies out

  • its sad how traditions are dying with all of the new technology thats comes out; technology that we dotn need. but we need this, culture without that then everyone will be the same. i realy wish i didnt grow up at this time period but i grew up a long long time ago.

  • @AlmightyPencil The grass if always greener on the other side.

  • @gamemann1111

some game that helps stay- at -home gamers feel a sense of false accomplishment by slaying dragons.

  • @vectorion1 wow. What an obnoxious response you narrow minded fop.

  • @ciscornBIG

I may be narrow minded but the wedge of your confidence has split it wide open.

  • @TheShadowoftheKnight Thanks for the tip man

  • nanners is japanese

  • Thumbs up for Mono!

  • This video is so win.

  • SeaNanners <3

  • Hattori Hanzo

  • If you make comments like X amount of people caused a dislike. You make other people dislike the video to fuck up your stupid comment.

  • "they got curved sword's .. curved swords"!

  • Seananners...

  • This just makes me feel good inside.

  • respect to these guys for keeping the tradition alive, even if modernization has pretty much buried it

  • Would someone mind explaining to me what a Koto sword is, I am not that knowledgeable Japanese weaponry.

  • @jaguar101x Koto swords are the ones made about 1000 years ago.. He is trying to recreate, but very difficult because no insturctions of how to make or what kind of materials need to be used..

  • @jaguar101x smithwata hit the nail on the head. You may have heard of some famous Koto-era swordsmiths, including Masamune and Muramasa. Genuine Koto-era swords are generally considered to be the greatest swords ever created.

  • These are the types of videos the internet needs more of.

  • @Andrew223a

Indeed it needs more videos like this one.

  • I wantanabe a Sword maker! :P

  • Am i the only one who lold a little at 3:38?

  • I've always wanted a katana made by a true japanese sword smith.

  • too short, is there a longer version?

  • I wish everyone had a passion like his. As for the Koto swords being impossible to recreate. They are not impossible, but certain techniques in the forging have been lost over the centuries. Koto swords hold some legend to them but really it was the perfection of the symmetry and edge that (by hand) is very very hard to reproduce, Now adays there are better combinations of alloys and tooling that can produce a better sword. But the ones built by hand are pure art.

  • He's a real life Hattori Hanzo.

  • THANK YOU SEANANNERS FOR THE DIRECTION TO THIS VIDEO

  • Can someone tell me in simple details why exactly he can't make a Koto sword? What about the sword makes it "impossible" to recreate?

  • @cyberslick18 It was made in a special, and there aren't any specific instructions on how to make a perfect one.

  • @cyberslick18 I think he means that the techniques and methods used to make a Koto sword have been lost and can not be recreated- which is why he emphasized that he wants his apprentice to surpass him, so the art can continue to live.

  • Pause this, the open a new youtube tab. And look up, The Lonely Shepherd.

  • i would pay an ungodly amount of money for one of this mans swords

  • I would like to thank seananners for guiding me to this video. It touched me deeply (no homo)

  • laugh at him now but when all the bullets and resources to make them are gone from the Earth and we'll be fighting with sticks this man will be the ultimate bad-ass with his kick ass swords.

  • @lastthingyoueversee there's a flaw in your logic and i'll let you figure it out.

  • This man is a legend.

  • Anyone else wish this video had a "click here to purchase" feature?

  • I dare anybody to try and break in his home.

  • Hittari Hanzo?

  • @gagantron Hattori Hanzo da ne?

  • @patricksweeney2 you're right. I spelled it wrong, my mistake. Carry on.

  • @gagantron Daijoubu desu yo :)

  • @patricksweeney2 translation? i can't help it but i always think someone's flirting with me when they speak japanese to me.

  • @gagantron "No problem xD"

  • Should be a vendor in Skyrim.

  • @Rollercakes To ModDB at once!

  • respect the blacksmiths who strenghten your weapon in mmorpg

  • @Rollercakes mod all the things!

  • Who is @SeaNanners? I got here from bestofyoutube(dot)com.

  • Anyone who says seananners brought them here is a complete faggot. I watched this without being "brought here" by someone because I have my own interests and don't rely on someone else for that.

  • @MyOscarMeyerIsOnFire so they are bad people for being curious? fuck off hipster

  • @xXpenguin93Xx You watching this because of seanannners makes you a hipster dipshit.

  • @MyOscarMeyerIsOnFire wrong hipsters like yourself complain about people being led to something therefore making it popular rather than people seeking it out and the thing remaining unknown

  • @xXpenguin93Xx Uh, my point is that seananners is kind of a hipster. The fact that you were led by him to this page means you relate to hipsters. I watched this out of my own interest, not someone else's. That makes you a poser who can't really think for yourself. Hipsters wear tight jeans and listen to stupid music. I'm sure you probably fall into one of those categories. You're wrong, get over it.

  • @MyOscarMeyerIsOnFire Well, aren't you just the moronic little bigot.

  • Description : Korehira Wannabe :D

  • Hattori Hanzō is real!

  • The best thing a master could hope for is that their apprentice surpasses them.

  • i'm so tired of the NaNANnannnwnwrrs SSENNTNNENNETTTT meeeeEEEEE HEREEEEEE. That being said, Nanners sent me here.

  • Nanners sent me from his recent things.

  • Takeshi Fuck-a-Nigga

  • Yes, seananners is cool, but let me be honest...no one gives a fuck if you got here off a post by him

  • @orbas88 I do, you lose.

  • just beautiful

  • woah, this is friggen awesome.

  • :/ i would pay any price to get that sword.. its fucking awesome :D
