When my previous girlfriend broke up with me, this song - especially the coda - summed it up quite accurately. On a bad day I do feel like 'm only left to "live out my miserable span of existence" around the memories of her - but then I remember the rest of this song. It perfectly sums up her attitude towards men in general and me in particular. The irony? She introduced me to this band. And her nickname was Lucy.
@bruxistkodiak i totally identify with what you say. that feeling. i think of that girl who broke my heart alot while listening to tiamat. it makes you think hes probably had some of the same experiences as you. tiamat is right there with celtic frost for me in tasteful exploration in music. just fantastic.
This song's dark and doom metal-like slowness really gets me. Somehow, it is still too strong a song to be the ending song of the album Skeleton Skeletron, but it doesn't really fit anywhere else in tracklist. Paradoxical? Yes. Everytime I listen to the album I'd love to listen to it again, but this song just makes me too sad to concentrate on other songs. Anyway, this song is really memorable, it defined Tiamat as a band for me.
And all the living creatures of the Earth bowed respectfully before the gracefull descent of the god Tiamat because they knew the time has come to spread the most beautiful music throughout the whole world.
the music sounds good if you are drunken and sad or if you have to calm down and have to think things over... but this "video" you made... you`re acting like a fan of new kids on the bloc at those days, i`m sorry... they`re just musicians!
Does anyone know where the sample at the end comes from? I mean the "After I'm gone..." one.
I'd also like to know where does the sample of "swaying back and forth" come from, if someone knows. I've had it on some sound samples cd, but there was no info.
The wolf ans the lamb (Le loup et l'agneau de Fean de Lafontaine): A lamb was quenching its thirst In the water of a pure stream. A fasting wolf came by, looking for something; He was attracted by hunger to this place. —What makes you so bold as to meddle with my drinking? Said this animal, very angry. You will be punished for your boldness. —Sir, answered the lamb, let Your Majesty Not put himself into a rage; But rather, let him consider That I am taking a drink of water In the stream
I spent my teenage years with Astral sleep, Clouds and Wildhoney. Good to see and hear that they are still around, although they changed quite a lot...
@sugarhorse7 yeah... 3 brilliant albums. I have 'Clouds' on cassette. Wildhoney is brilliant and then I sort of stopped listening to them after that. I'm curious again now too. Still have the same sort of atmosphere about them.

More than twenty steps below him;
And that, consequently, in no way,
Am I troubling his supply.
—You do trouble it, answered the cruel beast.
And I know you said bad things of me last year.
—How could I do that when I wasn't born,
Answered the lamb; I am still at my mother's breast.
—If it wasn't you, then it was your brother.
—I haven't a brother.—It was then someone close to you;
For you have no sympathy for me,

You, your shepherds and your dogs.
I have been told of this.I have to make things even.
Saying this, into the woods
The wolf carries the lamb, and then eats him
Without any other why or wherefore.

it will be even more sick when you know what french poetry is being said through the music after the singing is done...
