Bill Harris was/is my favorite trombone player also. More than any other, he spoke to me through his horn. Tremendous feeling, while being tremendously hip. The irony: he was a funny, funny cat--and that too comes across. Some "critics" belittled his style, saying he didn't play enough notes. Philistines!

Bill (not Phil) is my favorite bone man. Next is Jack Teagarden, followed closely by Bob Brookmeyer.

Bill is one of the few tb players I can identify after the first! note by his sound.
