i know that they are working and have been working on a 4 legged robot for the military that would help infantry carry either ammo or the wounded. how far is this from being realized with the current technology? great spider mech by the way. it is super awesome

This is very cool, and I was wondering... how hard was it to build and are the plans open sourced? It seems like this would be a very fun course project for say, mechanical design (I'm an engineering student). I'm especially fond of the visible linkages, but I would rather study a cad file or shop drawings than the video.

The cord is only for power. I didn't have servo tape at that very moment when I shot the video. The legs on the right side are controlled by the servo facing the camera. It pulls legs up and down and for and back from the same rotational servo.
