@DJW998 Absolutely. I also have this track on 'Last Man Standing' It's the voice and it's the piana of the one and only JLL who's hell when he's well, and he's sure dam well right now. So there!
(Once again) to be dressed up in the neat , starched uniform that most of the conformist pilots wore. Kris was not a conformist ! Sorry I had to chop this up into 4 parts, with the last being first. YouTube Rules, hope you didn't have too much trouble r eading it. Aaron Neville was also an oilfield worker, before achieving sucess as an entertainer
After a while, some of the men stsrted grousing about the delay, they were anxious to get ashore. He glanced at his watch, and said, "If that damned pilot don't get here soon, I'm gonna fly this thing myself." Some of the passengers laughed. A few minutes later, he got up and went to the cockpit, and said, "Here we go." and started the engine. I less than a heartbeat, all of the passengers scrambled over each other in their haste to evacuate the aircraft. You see, they expected the pilot...
Continuation: One of the tales that was going around involved an incident that supposedly took place on a "crew change" day. Dressed casually in cut-off khaki's, T shirt and a bandana around his head, he was sitting in the back of the chopper, drinking a cup of coffee and perusing the morning newspaper. He had already off-loaded the incoming crew, and was waiting for the relieved crew to finish breakfast and load up. ( continuing)
Kris, before achieving success in the music business, was a helicopter pilot, working in the offshore oil fields in the Gulp of Messicola. He was somewhat of a prankster, and a legend in his own time for some of the pranks he pulled, like doing "Ferris Wheels" around the catwalks that connected two platforms together. Now, he was said to be somewhat eccentric, I could never verify some of the stories I heard about his exploits, but I heard them from so many sourses that I tend to believe them..
@CaptRhett1 Love that story, thanks. I am a bit of a prangster myself and can relate LOL. Now at the beginning of the song he starts off with some dialogue and makes reference to Johnny Cash, another one of my all time faves, but I can't make out what he says. Can you clarify for me? Thanks
Kris wrote this song a long time ago. One of them missunderstood geniouses, who took the wrong direction at the time been, was his true rebelfriend the great Dennis Hopper...Great song as always when Kris`s delivers....Thx for sharing
@LadyAlf57 Sorry but no. Jerry Lee's voice is so distinctive you cannot mistake him with anybody else. Besides: this song is part of his 2006 album "Last Man Standing".

Yeah, that's Jerry Lee. All it takes is half a note or two to tell the difference.

@sallyjeanpage That's Willie's voice all the way! I'd know it anywhere.
LadyAlf57 3 months ago
@LadyAlf57 Sorry Lady but that is NOT Willie. The phrasing is all wrong for Willie. He doesn't sing at that tempo. Also you don't hear Trigger.
