I thought I was the only one that found it a bit denigrating that they always refer to him as "The Haitian", until my 7 yr old daughter said "Why do they keep calling him 'The Haitian'? That's like someone calling me 'The Chinese Girl', or calling someone else 'The Black Guy'. Why don't they just call him by his name?"

Then I thought about it and realized, it's also as bad as calling someone "The Jew" or "The Queer", but those would never last past the first episode. Jeez, give him a name!

I hear what your saying but for me i like it. Im Haitian, and with what Haiti is going thru its something positive. I dont think its like calling someone the jew, its more like calling them the American, the Jamaican ect.
