I picked Anderson instead of Udina but I swear to god, if Udina replaces Anderson as counciler in Mass Effect 3 Im gonna blast that asshole into oblivion.
i think the whole ending choice in ME1 depends on the combination, i think coucil saving goes with udina, and killing the council goes well with anderson
evidence (a lot of decisions you make sometimes the companions agree or disagree so im making it a theory that theyre opinions are whats best) and when i killed the council and udina asked me who i'd pick my shep went "we're about to enter a war we need Anderson" and udina happily agreed to it, saving the council and choosing anders annoys him
Please, I always turn on transcribe audio, I'm pretty sure that the program that runs all of these translations is rascist though. (Remembers rasict Turian meme) Yep.
With most personal dialogues removed the new player can breeze through the game without having to end every encounter or cameo in confusion. Also, this allows the writers to implement more references to the first game in the other outcomes chosen by the player. In this scenario for the "canon Shepard" I believe Udina was chosen because he is very impersonal and direct with the player.
If the Shepard in question is the default ME2 Shepard then I think there is a misunderstanding regarding what is considered canon in the ME games; if the comics or novels are being referred to then I have no insight on this subject. The reason the "canon Shepard" seems to have made nonsensical choices is because the choices made involve removing scenarios that require having prior knowledge of the first game for the sake of those who decide to play ME2 before the first game.

I think bioware made udina the councilor because NO ONE picked him so people who didn't play mass effect 1 would have to suffer, like heres for jumping into the middle of the story have fun dealing with this jerk
I mean who would choose to side with someone that stabbed you in the back and endangered the whole galaxy just for his own personal gain
i'd choose anderson everytime because his a homie and i just cant stand anything about udina
cant wait for MASS EFFECT 3 hope udina gets abducted
I expect Udina to pull a Loghain on us in the 3rd one, believing him and his "Council Fleet" can stop the reapers and even sic C-Sec's armies on Shepard.
@ScottJackson117 yeah, besides if you chose anderson you get to see udina get pwned all the time. "i'm the councilor not you udina, why don't you go back to your office and think about that for a while" plus shadow broker footage shows udina as being miserable, getting drunk at omega, picking fights with Csec and OF COURSE getting punched in the face by anderson. anderson meanwhile is a badass who still get's into firefights now and then.
@thuzan117 Actually the Shadow Broker files show that if Anderson becomes Councilor, his personal life goes to hell. His relationship with his family evaporates and he becomes a severe alcoholic just trying to deal with all the political bullshit he encounters every day.
It makes me wish I'd given the Councilor position to Udina.
@ThisIsMadness91 The micro comic pretty much says that. But either way I think Udina is gonna feel the political shitstorm hit him right back come ME3.
@markinator123 True, Udina does have more experience in politics than Anderson. But Udina lacks tact. When he isn't making demands of the Council that he has no right to, he's bending over backwards for them and putting humanity in jeopardy.
I don't think that's why BioWare chose him, anyway. It's probably because they know most players won't get on well with him, and thus it adds friction in the story.
@ThisIsMadness91 I'm guessing canon Shepard is a renegade, but saved the council. It's implied by the fact that there's the picture of the alien council when you try to invest money to conduct a smear campaign against Udina in LOTSB. The fact that BioWare slowly establishing and hinting a canon Shepard is complete disloyalty to fans. What makes Mass Effect special is that you can choose your own canon story. Having BioWare to establish a true canon would completely obliterate that charm.
Canon Shepard has always been semi-renegadish, soldier who was born on earth and a sole survivor. He is always on the front of the cover. We call him DefaultShep
@asaqe3 And the default Shepard killed Wrex, great choice BioWare... I have nothing against a Shepard who's semi-renegade (It's hell of a lot better than being entirely renegade or entirely paragon), but killing Wrex is just not cool!
@ThisIsMadness91 Dude, even If I started with ME1 first I'd probably choose Udina because he is a politician with experience. Besides men become mad, stressed and bitter if they are given power so I can't really blame him. Sure he stole the credit for taking back Shep to the spectres but it is very understandable for the (other) hard work he is putting up to. In addition, I'd rather have someone that probably reads books than someone who leads soldiers into battle for a supreme leader.
@ThisIsMadness91 To be fair, this is a win-win scenario. It means that Anderson will be out kicking Reaper arse in the field while Udina is one of the many douchebags we can stare in the face and turn, "AH YES REAPERS" right back around on.
Haha, you notice how Udina expresses no concern over Shepard's well being, with her having been dead for the past two years? Despite all you did for him.
The sad thing is Anderson retires from the council post ME 2 according to the novels

This is why Anderson is in my council. Udina sucks ass.
