I prefer the psychological horror of Silent Hill to the mindless "Oh man a monster right in my face oh your being chased horror horror!" of Dead Space. It's very good at what it does; but it's kind of action horror and any setting where you can kill the monsters attacking you in a few well placed shots is fun from an action standpoint but suffers on the horror grounds; beating things that could kill you from 2 of them with but a lead pipe...

Ok I own this game I have to say that it IS the scariest game. You can disagree but I guarantee that you will jump back a couple times, especially if you have good quality headphones on. I have Bose Noise Canceling 3 headphones and you hear a lot more then what you hear through normal speakers. 10 out of 10!
Pro Tip: Use your environment to kill the necromorph... preserves ammo and speeds things up a bit. find a way to use any kind of item. A.E. shoot the toy truck at his head for decapitation or knock him to the floor with a wheel chair and stomp on him... i killed a necromorph with a toy rocket right through its gut xD works well in hardcore where ammo is essential. Necromorph limbs work well also.

Now I don't care whatever you console fanboys have against pc gaming but buy amnesia the dark decent (only for pc) even if it's your only pc game. You'll be happy you did. You don't even need a high gaming pc and the game is also not out dated. Just made last year actually. Go buy it or get the demo first. You'll see what true horror gaming is about.

I feel like this game would be significantly better by 2 improvents:
1) Have the people change into necromorphs over time so its it has a greater dramatic affect (for example, not being able to tell who is infected or not, kinda like jeff goldblum in The Fly).
2) Have something other than the same vent for the necromorphs to jump out of over and over.
2+1/2) Have EA get their shit together and fix their shitty multiplayer servers
Kind of changes the whole aspect of the game then.
1) People aren't infected to begin with - a dead body is infected with the alien organism which turns them into a necromorph. The then special infecter necromorph which comes from this infects and transforms more people. The necromorphs primary weapons are their mutated body parts, what's the point if it is human?
2) The only other way to get around is the doors, the vent network is the way they move. Online it balances it
@bertt646 Well maybe they could introduce a new special infector monster that affects people over time for dramatic atmosphere rather than "jumpy" moments. Seems kinda stupid how the necromorphs can almost completely transform a body in such little time (as seen in 1:50)
ya the scene at 11:40 messed me up a little bit. Other then that its not too scary of a game where it makes you want to quit playing. It is still a great game and worth buying.

this game is not that scary as u think, cuz u keep fighting the same monsters, those necromorphs, its like left 4 dead, after playing the first game, it became fucking boring and just wanting to finish this game as fast as possible.... -_-

To be honest I have this game and i hav it mostly completed.. its not scary it just givs u random jumps. I recomend getting this game it was well worth it :)

@TheMichealpatrick try to play it on hardest diff.... every "scary" game is not scary if u play on normal, easy or hard (then the game becomes action game, not horror game)... play on the most hardest diff... and u'll find the difference :DDD

well dead space 1 and 2 are more like horror games..and ya some parts are scary...

I feel like this game would be significantly better by 2 improvents:
1) Have the people change into necromorphs over time so its it has a greater dramatic affect (for example, not being able to tell who is infected or not, kinda like jeff goldblum in The Fly).
2) Have something other than the same vent for the necromorphs to jump out of over and over.
2+1/2) Have EA get their shit together and fix their shitty multiplayer servers

Kind of changes the whole aspect of the game then.
1) People aren't infected to begin with - a dead body is infected with the alien organism which turns them into a necromorph. The then special infecter necromorph which comes from this infects and transforms more people. The necromorphs primary weapons are their mutated body parts, what's the point if it is human?
2) The only other way to get around is the doors, the vent network is the way they move. Online it balances it

@bertt646 Well maybe they could introduce a new special infector monster that affects people over time for dramatic atmosphere rather than "jumpy" moments. Seems kinda stupid how the necromorphs can almost completely transform a body in such little time (as seen in 1:50)

ya the scene at 11:40 messed me up a little bit. Other then that its not too scary of a game where it makes you want to quit playing. It is still a great game and worth buying.
