  • @ZoloftSmoothie

That's genius, I'm afraid to say.

  • reminds to starlight from muse

  • I drink your milkshake! I drink it up!

  • my RDR undead nightmare riding music

  • well, that was one goddam hell of a show!!! I've abandoned my child...Plainview had nothing but contempt for the religious wackos and grew furious he had to be hubled and humiliated in front of the congregation...i sincerely think Anderson and Day-Lewis gave us a character as powerful and compelling in some ways as Melville did...can movies be as powerful and profound as great literature?

  • Some people may not be accustomed to the 'strangeness' of the music but that's what makes this film that one bit better. The harshness of the music brings the film to life. Creates an atmosphere engaging the watcher. Jesus I love this Greeny! <33

  • BASTARD FROM A BASKET.

  • The combination of two geniuses, PTA & Greenwood = GODLY

  • Does Jonny actually play on this soundtrack or was it just his composition?

  • This might well be my favourit bit of sound track in the movie.

  • i'm going to watch the movie!! love you jonnyyyyy (:

  • this score feels like wanting to fart but not getting up because you cant stop overanalyzing your issues

  • @KATTANATEMA Damn how high were you when you wrote that?!?!

  • I have never watched this movie but now i want to watch it.

  • @MegaPuppydogeyes good the movie, script, acting is 1000 times better than score...

  • Those areas have been drilled!

  • some call Greenwood a genious and a madman.

  • I'm here cause I just had a dream set to this song. All I remember is grocery shopping and taking a poop.

  • Cool! My marching band included this piece for a show we once did.

  • Truly one of the greatest movies I've seen the last few years. It's perfect.

  • I nearly crapped my pants this is so scary

  • I've Abandoned My Child!

  • @mbrowand I'VE ABANDONED MY MILKSHAKE!

  • BASTARD FROM A BASKET BASTARD FROM A BASTARD

  • terrific movie, I saw it 5 times in one week in the theather! excellent and well money's worth

  • Genius. I love you Jonny.

  • ABSOLUTE MODERN CLASSIC!!!!

  • I TOLD YOU ID BURY YOU ELI!!!!!

  • amazing

  • My favourite song in the soundtrack. And Convergence.

  • You boys are a regular family business...

  • I still can't beleive he ever even thought of abandoning is own child. Thats fuuuuucked up. No really, that haunts me. Ever since i've seen that movie i've had the image of him walking away as the train of his screaming child leaves.

  • @windrix1

    It really wasn't 'his' child.

  • @windrix1

At this time he still love his soon.

    Thats my opinion.

  • I feel that the first half of this piece truly personifies Plainview's desire for wealth. The latter half seems a bit more visceral. Maybe Daniel wasn't such a monster after all? ...I LOVE this film!

  • Tell me where it hurts! Tell me where it hurts? Were you hit in the head?!!

  • I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD

  • DnB Remix please

  • try the albums 'my downfall' and 'Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett' by Venetian Snares if thats the sound your looking for

  • I love Venetian Snares mate. Hanjal is the ultimate tune. Just been listning to a DnB remix of Marolin Mansons Resident Evil theme - definatly worth a listen! Also search for 'Drum 'n' Bass Maestro by Addictive TV'. DnB v Classicl in my fav.

  • Brilliance.

  • hammer!

  • Johnny Greenwood is a musical genius.

  • Comment removed

  • This music reminds me of the film "Greed" by Erich von Stroheim.

  • fantastic.....

  • Greenwood should score more movies, that is if he's able to balance that and radiohead.

  • Yah, 'cause Radiohead are doing SO much these days.

  • workin' on new album.

  • That's a rumor until they prove otherwise. As far as we know, we could get another 5 year break.

  • Well, they did say it. Also, for now Thom has that as of yet 'Unnamed' band with Flea. So, look out for that.

  • Have you not heard there most recent album?

  • Yes. Do you remember waiting 5 years for it?

I'm not at all criticizing Radiohead. I'm just stating that they aren't doing much together these days. That's a statement backed by their own admission; they've all got their own private lives to lead, and Radiohead isn't exactly top priority for any of them.

So Greenback doesn't have much to balance regarding Radiohead for the time being. And since Thom is working on so much solo stuff, it's reasonable to assume Greenwood will be too.

    Happy?

  • I actually wasn't picking a fight, I was just wondering if you'd paid attention to their recent album which was released not long ago.

You were implying that they haven't done much lately, when in reality they have. That's all I was saying.

  • That's not true, the entire year of 2007 they were working on In Rainbows, they've been touring and writing songs all of late 2008 and 2009. Now they're back in the studio for the winter recording a new album.

What more do you want from them???

  • Are you sure their recording a new album, havnt heard anything about that.i thought thet were just going to release the odd song here and there like these are my twisted words

  • Yeah, Ed O'Brien mentioned in an article that they're back in the recording studio this winter, and they're fixing to put another album out sometime in the future.

We'd all like one sometime around 2010, but with Radiohead, you never know, it could be 2014.

  • cheers degree7,just checked out ed's post on their site, goin recording in january.they normally produce an album every 3/4 years on average, hopefully the next one will be quicker.ed did say the band was in a 'good place' so heres hoping the music will flow an we'l get another classic rhead album soon!

  • degree most radiohead songs have been around for a few years even before they start recording them for a new album.the songs for the next album have probably been worked on tover the last two years.thier perfectionists u guess so they wont to throw out any oul shit straight away like most bands these days

  • @zebrahead32 most bands don't throw out any shit no matter how bad it is. they record it and put it on the album, cause that's the only shit they've got.

if radiohead saves some shit to be worked on later, it means that this shit has great potential and they don't want to fuck it up by rushing it.

  • @JohnyJoe more than you

  • Thanks for that, jonjon.

Now can people stop acting like I've in any way criticized the band?

Before rumours of their new album surfaced, I guessed that they'd be taking more time off to live their lives - like they did between Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows. Now, for suggesting Radiohead are in any way human, I have been scorned.

People need to lay off the worship. They're my favourite band of all time too, but that doesn't mean I consider them all-powerful or infallible.

  • @JohnyJoe i think radiohead needs some time off. just to get fresher ideas flowing i wouldn't want another in rainbows sounding record. not saying in rainbows was a bad album btw

  • @JohnyJoe i agree, people (arrh..i hate to say what people should or not do, but...arr) should themselves be a little bit more creative....you not giving a fuck for a little while...and blend with the atoms that surround them, get your consciousness out of your...emm...ass, head,, alter-ego, dick, you name it. for a sec....thisway, they wouldn't expect, want, need, new and newer stuff as soon as possible and over again. and they would consume with greater pleasure afterwards

  • this is the only movie ive seen someone bowled to death in haha

  • This score reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock.

  • Yes, like Bernard Herrman

  • @tutanktunak

that would be Bernard Herrmann since Hitchcock almost always used him to score his movies.

  • @tutanktunak You mean Bernard Herrmann?

  • Comment removed

  • "This score reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock.

    @tutanktunak

    Only better!

  • @QuantumFart2

I love There Will Be Blood and this score... but it isn't better than all of Hitchcock's scores. "Pyscho" and "Vertigo" are two of the best film scores ever written. Give them a listen! This is great though haha

  • @tutanktunak I believe that was the intention. The film was about the horror of humanity. Jonny Greenwood is a fucking musical genius.

  • @tutanktunak Bernard Hermann is pretty influential.

  • @tutanktunak It reminds me of Thomas the Tank Engine.

  • @tutanktunak yea, it's fat.

  • LOL, same here

  • awesome

  • Nice try. Keep it up check out esteembpo + com for social media marketing. ikgfd

  • Its the Jaws theme meets The Rite of Spring!

  • HAHAHAHAHA

    brilliant

  • I imagine Nemesis from Resident Evil running after me to kill me.

  • haha

  • I'm sooo scared just hearing this. Daniel Plainview was the devil!

  • very creepy

  • I have this as my ringtone....no joke

  • how the fuck did he not get an oscar for this?

  • not even nominated...

  • it wasnt an original score. jonny greenwood used stuff from his orchestra popcorn superheit receiver. he also used a piece from brahms and arvo part so yea...

  • What was the Bach piece called?

  • Jhonny its the genius of Radiohead.

  • WHY DON'T I OWN THIS?!?

  • @YoknapatawphaKid when i first read this comment i was like what do you mean?..the song??..then i remember the scene...gave me a good laugh

  • @YoknapatawphaKid BASTARD IN A BASKET

  • @YoknapatawphaKid RIGHT?!

  • Crazy. Esp the violins..

  • if i was in the UFC i would use this as my entrance tune....

  • Intimidating music indeed, good choice

  • i'm sorry i'm from buenos aires.

    what does UFC mean?

  • UFC stands for "Ultimate Fighting Championship" Its mixed martial arts. Its a sport. Search it up.

  • Thanks for the reply, i will :)

  • lol, every one would be like "what the fuck?"

  • my favourite too

  • Its like the Jaws theme meets the sound of Industrial factories where it gives a creepy aspect of big business.

  • JONNY. JONATHAN.

    not Johnny..

  • when was this used in the movie?

  • It plays when Plainview and HW are at the train station, talking to rival oil men.

  • like...all the time? It mostly happened when something INTENSE was happening

  • You Boys are a little late..

  • @dailyshowfan1 When he's buying up Little Boston.

  • I searched this because I heard it was done by Johnny Greenwood, but it's still great, and a great film.

  • radiohead is god, nobody wants to fuck with thom and johnny.

  • most memorable track on here. mad good

  • i like john williams!!!

  • So do I, mostly, but why HERE?

  • yiyo: 'you ppl wouldnt be here if this great music was scored by someone else.'

Huh? Great music is great music, no matter who composes it so I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

  • HAHA i kind of agree. it's just that this is JONNY GREENWOOD. i mean of all people? who'd expect radiohead's guitarist to be writing the score for an oscar-winning movie??? its crazy!

  • If Vanilla Ice did it, and it sounded like that i'd still listen. Doesn't matter who does it once it sounds good.

  • an awesome score! it also helps when you have a BRILLIANT actor like daniel day-lewis

  • hes back to save the universe ha ha

  • oscar's shit nowdays

  • what is the song at the point where the doctor checks out HW's ear??

  • that is one of the moments where we see change in HW behaviour, life

  • best song! how did it not get up for best score?!

  • i guess piece

  • Some music from the film was already used before, disqualifying the score from the Oscars. However, this piece is original and fully deserving of an Oscar by itself.

  • i disagree. i never listen to radiohead and i thought this films soundtrack was amazing.

  • The man that composed this soundtrack was the lead guitarist for radiohead.

  • *Was and still is.

  • Radiohead is the greatest band of our time!

  • thumbs up, but not, The Best

  • definitely up there with the beatles

  • Maybe... They are Very Very good But... Surely not the worlds Greatest i mean They're in my top 3

  • i don't know, their stuff is complete artwork, but the beatles and other bands will always be listed above them...but i really don't care about lists lol...well and the fact that the beatles did a lot of new and revolutionizing stuff for music in their time

  • The soundtrack made the movie for me. Stunning work.

  • My god this is amazing

  • Amazing film, amazing soundtrack.

  • good hell, greenwood and yorke are both geniuses

  • such a effing good song!!!

this is my favorite on the soundtrack.

  • This the one that made me want to see this film

  • That doesn't sound too unreasonable. This is definitely the most recognizable and popular music from the film.

  • i get this feeling when i listen to the songs, i hvnt seen the movie yet, nor have i read Oil!(i know they r different), but the ost is like...i cant describe it!

  • No... Are you?

A song is a poem set to music. THIS is a piece. A piece does not have lyrics.

  • Damn straight.

  • Ah, I thought you were being one of those asshats who think that if it doesn't have words, it doesn't qualify as music

  • Quite the contrary, I love instrumental music above all else.

  • So your saying that if I had a long lyrical drinking straw and I move it aaaalll the way across a room to a score of a song and I suck up the lyrics I drink your lyrics!SLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRP!

    And make song a piece!

Because Im smarter than the composer!

    IIIIIIIII am the music master!

    IIIIIIIII am the music master!

    whoooh!IM FINISHED!

    *THERE WILL BE LYRICS*

  • Yeah!

And they should have out you in a glass jar... on the mantlepiece...

  • Your not alone this and DDL's clip of "I've Abandoned my child!" at the Oscars made me want to see this film!

  • I thought Convergence was the best track in the film.
