How in any way are the Twilight characters better they're all miserable and angst ridden they have no depth. You've watched the Harry Potter chracters grow through the books seen how they develop they are believable and engaging. They personalities and traits are also far more variable than the Twilight characters. If you bothered to look for other books that included those types of relationships you would see that have been many before and many since Twilight was published. Let's just toss both series of books away for the moment and deal with your adventure vs. romance for the moment. Neither one is better then the other one, just different types of actions by humans is all. I find romance for the most part boring, but done right it's amazing. You might have confused adventure with action, it's not the same thing. Action is like a fight scene, were adventure is a like a conquest in search for something or to finish something.
And yes, Voldemort is a cliched bad guy, because he's a thin allegory of a traditional racist/fascist caricature of a Nazi, who wants nothing less than the total annialation/enslavement of all those who don't match his standards of what a human being should be capable of, and how they should act.

Dude, the answer is obvious. Harry Potter characters are unique and have a different personality while Twilight is mostly ordinary and dull. Ok, ok. Let me explain to you:
1) Romance over adventure is opinion.
2) Meyer's the only one imagining vampires, WEREwolves and humans having relationships? Go look at the Young Adults section.
3) Actually, the characters are amazingly relate-able. I can't relate to Bella...or any characters in Twilight at all.
Now, before you say I can't hate because I haven't read the books, I actually just finished Breaking Dawn this weekend. If you would like to argue more, Private Message me. Thanks. :)

depth to them. If they're evil they have a reason for being evil. Voldemort had a shitty life, so he made other people's lives shitty. His father was a deadbeat and a Muggle, but instead of killing freeloaders he killed what he thought of as undesirables. And that's just scratching the surface of the depth of Harry Potter I(and other Potterheads) could go on for hours about the complexity and the amazingness of this book.
Also might I just say that Harry Potter nerds are just better...by a ton!

1: That's an opinion. It can't be proven. If I said I liked historical fiction and you said you like science fiction you can't say your preference is better than mine. It's what you prefer not what is better. Some people prefer wizards over sparkly fag-vampires *cough,cough*.

Actually, I am pretty sure that Stephanie Meyer wasn't the first who thought of vampires, werewolves and humans having relationship, that idea existed long before her... Like, L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries, they were written in 1991, and they had the same idea... And that's only an example, so that fact is totally wrong. And not only that, Harry Potter characters are real heroes, really complex, unlike your beloved Twilight characters...

1. Both books have romance. One is solely based on it, while the other has it as a kind of side story leaving room to deal with other emotions and problems that kids can better relate to.
2. Bella is constantly putting her life at risk for no reason. At least Harry was trying to save the world.
3. There were plenty of Vampire/Human relationship books before Meyer...
4. Rowling created an entire new world. Meyer made vampires that sparkle.
5. Twilight characters are not better. It's a fact.

While it's a bit silly to claim that one book is "better" than another; it's even sillier to claim that one GENRE is better than another. Especially when you use flimsy arguments such as the ones presented. Furthermore; to claim that Romance has more substance is a bit absurd. Carried on- Rowling thought of a boy who lost his parents but he got on in life and overcame his fears and found his true strengths therefore living life happily. Romance?! There's more romance in Harry Potter than Twilight. Rowling deals with the emotions of Hermione, Ron, Harry, Ginny etc. For Hermione it was always Ron and after he left her she still carried on saving Hogwarts. Hermione and Ron are heroes. Meyer deals with whingeing little brats and sparkly, old, pedophile men. They put their lives at risk to save Hogwarts and overcame their fears and found their true strengths. Meyer thought of pedophiles, dogs and cry babies having relationships.

Oh lord were do I start. One, considering the time (aka years in which harry potter was first written) it was new, creative and unique. Two, Harry Potter does have romance but it goes about it in a more sophisticated way versus twilight's whole abusive controlling "love" relationships. Three, both Harry potter and twilight have some sort of adventure (though twilight's was pretty much crap) and last time I checked twilight has the "stereotypical bad guy" as well. All of the Twilight characters are Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus. Harry Potter characters have flaws, weaknesses, and there is love. Snape and Lily. Ginny and Harry. Hermione and Ron. Though I believe there is a fine line between love and obsession. Bella is obsessed. Finally, Bella went catatonic when Edward left, while Hermione continued fighting to save the wizarding world. Also, it's impossible for Edward to have an erection, let alone sperm. He has NO BLOOD FLOW. Twilight is stupid. That is all.

I personally like Twilight because of the different types of romantic love, the idea that there is someone for everyone, no matter your flaws, and that no matter the terrible things you've been through, you always get a happy ending (no matter how short lived) and it helped my realize my fear of getting older and having to grow up and fend for myself and now Im slowly but surely getting over it.

Dude, the answer is obvious. Harry Potter characters are unique and have a different personality while Twilight is mostly ordinary and dull. The plot fits perfectly while you can just watch/read twilight going on and on. A sparkle vampire stalking her in her sleep, giving her a c-section with his teeth. That really is disgusting. And what's so creative about vampires? Harry Potter has been going for 11 years, and twilight? 4 books and 4 movies vs 7 books 8 movies? You got to be kidding me.

Fantasy romance? Better than adventure? Adventure books are about facing what you fear, it's about a character facing and growing as a person. Twilight is about a girl who wants to leave her whole family behind for a guy... that she knows for less than two months. Love between species? So old news. HP is about characters growing up, finding love in all its ways and facing problems like other people do. With a twist. In Twilight, Bella keeps playing with people's hearts.
