@Chainedflesh the affects of acid differ. Your emotions contol the visuals. First of all everything is brighter, your legs get jittery and the walls start to move a little, objects seem to contract and distort...then it goes into a sensational based world where your emotions truly control how you feel. I'm on it right now and I basically just described what one blotter will do to you.
@vbishop91 Anything constructive? Perhaps some details or advice on how I could simulate it visually and convey the feeling of it? As I stated before this is an editing excercise. But as I have never done acid, nor do I intend to I would like some feedback on the experience and how it affects a person both visually and emotionally.
I have seen rust on a barbed wire fence alive like I have never seen it before . Laying on my back looking at the stars all the places where there are not stars resemble spheres hanging from the heavens . Palm trees breathing with life in them . Things you normally would not care about are suddenly and miraculously revealed to you in a way that you never knew possible and you learn to appreciate things . Music will flow through you and give you a new feeling . What else to say ? try it :)
Yes. There are aspects which are similar to the experience, but overall the effect is too heavy handed. Flanging is somewhat similar, but the emphasis should be on time dialation.
This video here is in no way lyrical. The psychedelic experience often takes on a story-like significance, but not so much in what is actually "seen" but what objects and events mean to the explorer. Time and space also appear blurred or convoluted, though this isn't the case either.
kind of reminds me of salvia, yet nothing like it. A psychedelic experience can't be captured in a video. plus sensations such as synesthesia, blending of the senses (see sounds, tasting colors), can only be experienced while on it. If you want a good video look up "lsd effect" , and look at the video of the guys face distorting in the mirror.
This is absolutely nothing like it. The worst simulatuon ever. This dude has definitely never done acid. This is closer to being blitzed on alcohol/weed an alcohol/weed combo. LAME! There are some very realistic ones out there. Watch some and try again.
When I was younger I did a huge amount of acid over a long period of time, this is nothing like it...Im not sure how to explain to you how it is, but you gotta forget everything youve seen in movies...unless you took enough to OD on your not going to think you see big pink elephants and jump out a window thinking you can fly...a lot of it is physical more then visual, I've taken huge amounts before and never seen anything appear out of thin air..its more colors and blending and streaks of light
a lot of the times you just feel it in your body and in your movements, if you stare at something you will see the edges and features of that item start to distort and maybe the colors will bleed but nothing like this video. It can defitnley interfere with your ability to reason and process information both audibly and visually, but if taking acid made everything look like this video would of never done it a 2nd time..good video and good idea though
Ive done acid, and its a drug that nothing can simulate. there is NO other drug like it and no other feeling like it in the world. The only way you can explain a trip is if your talkin to someone who has taken acid as well
Can you expand upon the experience? Part the communication of film is to deliver the feeling of an experience, and that is what I had hoped to do here to a degree, but also to gain information from experienced individuals on this topic.
Any suggestions you can make that would help me to capture the feeling? Or even just a good description of the experience?
Words really cannot explain an acid trip. for me, it was like, i focus on something, i see a shape. Add a few weird sounds and a smell or two, and there was my acid trip
the best way i can explain the visual experience of shooms would be more like watching a 3D movie without the glasses, however that is regardless since the effect also causes many different senses to be felt and cannot be done through these videos
I like the surreal nature of your video, but it does nothing to capture a psychedelic trip. A trip is a personal experience, and it encapsulates all senses. It's not just a visual thing, and it's very atypical for most people who trip to experience such visual confusion in their hallucinations. Usually any visuals are things within the person's imagination insinuating themselves into the the surroundings which already exist. That's the best I can describe it. It's a personal experience.
that is not at all what its like, acid doesnt just change what you see but it changes how you think, you cant watch a video and understand...just try it out
Yea, think of everything as one thing, and it all just flows into and out of itself. Fluid reality, not static. The part with the cell phone, and the guy laghing were the best.
no, no, things aren't blurry at all. they are clear and sharp, much more than in reality. it's not like being drunk or high. images are crisp and consice. maybe more geometrical, and light can be fuzzy, but not objects.
As far as low dosage goes, things are a lot more clear. Honestly I agree with the person who said "You can still see, but rather than things being as blurry as you've made them, they are more colorful, and only slightly blurry."
The high is very pristine... it more so enhances regular life. Though I'm not sure how to capture that on camera.
The light shining past things was pretty spot on. Light itself has many effects.
I have a friend who likes to do acid and has described what is similar in your video. The blur in your video seems to be too extreme, thuohg.l You can still see, but rather than things being as blurry as you've made them, they are more colorful, and only slightly blurry. I've heard things can look like looking throuhg a fisheye lens.
Do you mean like auras, exagerated details or overlayed (imagined) patterns?
If it is overlayed patterns perhaps keying Julia sets into specific areas of gamma could accomplish that part. If it is aura-like I could use an edge finding utility and key out the white to leave a sense of detail /aura.
no problem man, but one quick question, so this is what it would kinda be if you were on acid?? cuz i keep hearin different things from different people....and i guess it all depends on how u have your mind set, and the type of person, but thanks man, and this vid is F***ING AWSOME!!

Haha that synesthesia thing happens to me while sober. I see sound and every letter and number has its own color.

Search "lsd effect" for a very realistic version of a the early stages of a mild acid trip.

hmm. try some visual patterning on all up-close surfaces. elaborate patterns...and less blur.

You're probably pretty accurate. This is how it's been described to me.
Luvsiren 4 years ago
Thanks for the input. I addded in some nonnative sounds to the environment at a very low volume level to addd to the disorientation effect.
I don't know if that bit is accurate in any way, but I am trying to capture the feel.

I think so, I have heard descriptions of the sensation, how perception of time is skewed, and how solid objects seem a litttle less concrete.
I hope I have captured the essence, but I am waiting for some feedback from someone "experienced" to let me know.
Chainedflesh 4 years ago
really the only way to understand is to do it. there's no describing it.
