  • I thought he was going to say "Like Bing Crosby?"

  • Yeah buddy ... good liberal lapdog democrats ... the cancer that is eating this nation ... LOVE YOUR COUNTRY ... DOUBLE TAP A LIBERAL TODAY!

  • @zR750gUY Tell me, are you as stupid as your comment suggests? In what sense are democrats "lapdogs" or "cancer"? How can you love a country and hate half of its inhabitants? Is your general poliical position that anyone you disagree with should be "double tapped"? Does your mother know you are using the computer? Please answer without conferring with any other moronic, rednecked imbecile.

  • @kevinastraw Thats hypocritical, because its the dumocrats that want everyone who disagree with them "double tapped". And yet you sit there and stereo type all republicans as "rednecks". So, please answer without conferring with any other moronic, queer imbecile.

  • @kevinastraw You are blinded by the liberal horse shit agenda ... when the last shovel of dirt is thrown on the last dead liberal ... this nation will be great again ... so go fuck yourself obama ass sniffer. ... or better yet .. let me do it with a broken bottle.

  • Back in the day Democrats were seen as Republicans today

  • Re-election ad for Obama right there!

  • Hilarious! I can appreciate humor about both political parties so I'm not offended. Bob Hope was the greatest at one-liners. Thanks for the laugh. :)

  • Bob Hope has it all wrong - it's the Republicans he surely meant to say.

  • @ajb1776 Nope, Bob was spot on.

  • @ajb1776 Nope

  • That was wonderful.

  • the great thing about that line is that it is so flexible. Dems like me can laugh at how the dems cowtow to republicans, Republicans and teabaggers can laugh at how they think the dems are crazy. That was the brilliance of Hope's comedy.

  • some how I knew that was cumming.....youtube search .. "I B E W drummer"

  • This is true :)

  • Sounds like the leaders of our countries doesn't it?????

  • @RadarGuidedVermin Does you guys have anything to offer besides insults?? Just wondering..

  • Comment removed

  • Sure , a zombie is one of those clueless idiots who support Ron Paul without any understanding of the real world!

  • @JMWilkes Wow...someone failed U.S. History. Republicans are for the people(via freedom) If anything more than before they are for protecting states from the government. When you people are wrong its not just a little misguided information, its 100%

  • @LIBnTYR Correction.. The Grand Old Party was ORGANIZED to be for the people/freedom and limited government. If any, there weren't many after Goldwater that stood true to that oath. The current GOP presidential hopefuls stand against marriage equality, want to bring back DADT, and want to limit government control of the businesses that fund their agendas, rather than limiting government control over the people. And for THAT... THEY are failing American PRESENT...

  • @JMWilkes As opposed to the Democrats who claim to know better than you. You want to talk about controlling freedoms?? You examples have no effect over me, and do not effect 95% of the nation. However, telling us that they know how we should live even down to the type of light bulbs we can have in our house. And the democrats are by far the biggest recipients of lobbyist money.

  • @LIBnTYR You are right. Those things have no affect over you, a large portion of the country, or the GOP candidates... so why do they want to control these things, ei government control?? The last Dem prez left office giving us the largest financial surplus in US history, and the R prez that followed turned that into our largest deficit. But rile people up with " convenient morality", and they somehow forget that. It's adorable to think that the guy taking another's freedom won't take yours.

  • @JMWilkes The last Dem prez? You mean the republican controlled congress. Clinton just went along with (for the most part) what congress wanted. And yes Bush racked up a deficit because wars aren't cheap. Regardless, things weren't as bad now, as compared to when Bush was president, especially his first term, his second, not so much. Its not just the GOP who 'control' the gay marriage issue, Obama himself said he was against gay marriage, but not civil unions.

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin Let me guess.. It was Clinton's fault that the economy collapsed? Just took a while? Orrrrr was it Obama's??? That crafty, Muslim, non-American, ni.. I mean socialist invented a time machine and went back to the 90's to futz with and collapse the economy. Just curious, but why so abrasive? I'm the black guy, so that should be my thing. "WRONG!!! .. KEEP FAILING"... lol.. I could recommend a stress ball... or a puppy. Please don't squeeze the puppy.

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin Woooow.. The GOP doesn't get humor. OK. Making a JOKE. BC of the stereotype of angry black guys, I was saying that you may be super abrasive if a black guy is calling you abrasive. But shouting "race card" bc you don't have a sense of humor ...just shows your lack of a sense of humor. Shouting "race card" to cover up racism shows a lack of weighing situations before reacting to them. Ignoring issues of race, religion, or sexuality doesn't make us noble. Just inconsiderate.

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin Do you even know what that means or were you just taught to shout it and be dismissive when you had nothing to say? Again... I'm playing the "THINK" card. I actually listen to issues before deciding them. I don't just go side with one and dismiss the other.

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin No one is playing a race card. I'm playing a "please learn how to read and think before typing" card. That comment didn't mention race. It mentioned learning to actually hear what someone is saying. Apparently listening and thinking are as uncomfortable for you as... race ;) Just a hint. You might have a chance at sounding intelligent .. even get healthy dialogue going if you responded to what was typed, instead of the evil race minions in your head..

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin Respond to what's typed, not what's in your head

  • @RadarGuidedVermin BTW. If someone blamed you or your race for something you didn't do, take the anger out on them, not me. Police are respectful to me, bc I look them in the eyes and show them respect. When I was in finance, and I walked into a firm for an interview, I almost always got it, and I never thought my race entered the equation. I don't believe that my race makes me better or worse, nor my sexual orientation, but if I said prejudice didn't exist, THEN I'd sound like an idiot

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin No.. It's truly sad that you are incapable of reading. You must be one of those people who reads half a sentence and guesses what the rest is about. You have no basis from any of my responses that I feel that way. Just a lot of assumption. One of my 4 closest friends is anti-Obama. I'd trust this guy more than 99% of people I know. Don't think HE'S a racist. I DO think you should actually read responses, rather than slap labels on me that come from false assuptions

  • Comment removed

  • @RadarGuidedVermin "Nobody"? Well that's just silly. That one word invalidates your frail statement. Again. You missed the point. That I know people who aren't racist, who don't like Obama based on policies. Which means that the statement you made (about how YOU think I think all anti-Obama folks are racist) is baseless. "Statement... reason.. Statement.. reason". This is how adults debate ;)

  • This referred to the segregationist southern Democrat's hold on the Democratic party at that time. Most Dems were scared to oppose them. A similar comment today might be about Republicans and fundamentalist Christians.

  • @skornkven1

Do you think everyone that dislikes Obama is a racist?

  • There are only 2 reasons to be a republican 1 you are wealthy and 2 you are a idiot! Sadly a lot of people today have I.Q.'s smaller than there shoe size...

  • @lmanator Yep, they're called left wing liberals

  • OK. This is funny. By the way... I'm a gay, black comedian, so I'll probably vote Democrat, like I have in most elections. Also.. Anyone who knows history understands that, at the time of this movie the Democratic party was VERY similar to today's GOP. When it still belonged to people like Lincoln, MLK, and Frederick Douglass, the Republican party actually believed in helping people.

  • @JMWilkes

That was quite some time ago.

According to today's GOP representatives, evolution is a myth.

Meaning Dinosaurs and people inhabited the planet at the same time...

So I guess that changes things right?

So instead of being a cartoon, does this make the Flintstones a documentary?

  • Hope was a genius even if he was a conservative.

  • Piss and moan as they may, there's no way in hell the Republicans will win the presidency in 2012. And that is a good thing.

  • @madamerotten No thats not a good thing.

  • @LIBnTYR While Mr. Obama has not been able to 100%-please every Democrat who voted for him, he is a reasonable man who has tried to be inclusive and bipartisan in his strategies. For that, the Republicans call him spineless. When Obama takes a strong stand on issues that affect the average citizen, they call him a socialist. Really, the reasons the Republicans don't like Mr. Obama is because they are blindly partisan and, for the most part, upset because he's a black man.

  • @madamerotten Dropping the race card. Classic. Obama is not bipartisan, nor will he ever be. You people can't admit you have a bias. The only time Obama and friends work with the Republicans is by twisting their arms in the 'closed-door' meetings to make the Republicans vote for the Dems legislature. most recently shown in the tax legislature passed a couple weeks ago.

  • @LIBnTYR The tax legislature you mention was bipartisanship encouraged by Obama. The issue was only the proposed 2 month extension. And don't forget the Democrats' concession to agree on the pipe line. The Democrats are more than cooperative, and much more serving in the public interest. Republicans only stand for corporations and the rich.

  • @LIBnTYR While there are people who use race as a crutch or an excuse, it's crass to say that a significant portion of Republican voters don't have distaste for The President based on race. When I worked in financial markets and spoke to conservatives on the phone who didn't know I was black THEY dropped the race card. And many friends are open with me about what their older family members say. People who always cry "Racism" and those who say there is none BOTH perpetuate it.

  • @JMWilkes people don't like Obama because hes black???? First off, his mother is white. Literally no one cares, at least on the Conservative side hates Obama because of his color. If anything thats why you people elected Obama because of his race, and the same reason you ousted Herman Cain, because "black people can't be conservative".

  • @LIBnTYR I'm not sure which people you mean. If I ask, you may yell "RACE CARD". Obama and Sec. Clinton ran on a very similar platform. The difference. He ran a fiscally responsible campaign and raised more money. I've voted in every presidential election since I was of age in 1996, so, uh... No. I voted for Obama, bc it was election time, and picked the best choice. Btw... Would not have voted for Jesse Jackson OR Cain.

  • @LIBnTYR Hahahaha. OK... If ANY part of a statement is untrue, it makes the ENTIRE statement FALSE. 1) "Literally, no one cares" Well, that's not true. I just gave examples of people who spoke freely with me and expressed how much this is a race issue to them. There are conservatives that don't care about race, but when you say NONE, it makes you sound ridiculous. 2 "you people"? I belong to more then one group that you generalize about, so be specific 3 Racists DON'T care tht his mom'swhite

  • @chrisman737 Very well said!!!

  • Lol.

    Ron Paul 2012.

  • omaagaahd that was really funny.

  • LAWL propaganda

  • Pretty cheap joke. Perhaps the Democrats of the 1940s were like the TeaBaggers of today. I was never a Bob Hope fan

  • so true--still to this day-miss ya bob

  • I'm a democrat but I want Ron Paul in office. This once great acting and perfect comedic timing by Bob Hope and somebody else I wish I knew who that was. Maybe Abbott?

  • @jesusthelordforever Abbott and Hope? I doubt it!

  • To bring this line up to date Hope needs to say, "You mean like Tea Party tea-baggers?" LOL!!!

  • This was when the Democrats were strong in racist segregated Dixie but the Republicans have taken over this role now.

  • Hahahahahaha. RIP Bob.

  • Bob Hope looks like Quagmire from Family Guy.

  • @whatevr192 Common joke in FG is quagmire looks like Bob Hope.

  • It's true for both parties.

  • hahahahahaa yup! That's about right.

  • Guess no one has a sense of humor anymore. Who gives a crap if this video is about Democrats or Republicans, it's funny, leave it at that. Now shut up and go debate a real issue. For instance, tell me how many gardeners won't find work if the rich have to pay more in taxes. Or tell me how Social Security is an entitlement if I've paid into it all of my life. Or how Obamacare is going to lower my costs for health insurance. Or why everyone we send to Washington turns out to be an idiot.

  • @MrHoopSr The march of oppression: LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT...

When you're a slave laborer in a FEMA relocation camp you'll still be cheering "your side." That's how they win: Divide and Conquer. Maybe I'll run into you on Movie Night at the camp. With the passage of NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) you don't have the right to a trial any more. Think it can't happen here. It's happening now! Wake UP!!!!

  • @netzahuacoyotl

Help me out here... These slave labor FEMA relocation camps..?

Who will we be slaving for?

Is that what the Republicans mean, when they tell us that the wealthy are the real "job creators"?

  • @skeilak Can't figure out how to post a video link, but wanted to respond with George Carlin's "American Dream" bit (or is it a rant?) Bob Hope was funny, but Carlin is telling it like it is. The very wealthy and powerful are addicts and sociopaths. They will not stop until they have it all. They will enslave or kill each and every one of us if that's what it takes to get their hands on it all. When the collapse comes and people are rioting in the street, it's to the camps. Watch!

  • @netzahuacoyotl Allowing for the moment your absurd premise that "The rich" want to enslave us all, ask yourself by what mechanism they would do this. Are they going to send Irona and Cadbury over to throw us in camps? If they did try to do such a thing, the mechanism they would use is GOVERNMENT. By advocating increased government involvement in private business, you're facilitation the very scenario you fear. Critical thinking: it isn't just for breakfast anymore.

  • @weirddave The mechanism is set up in the NDAA. The military will do the footwork. Whether they actually have the means to do it is a valid question. But this stuff is coming down the road for you and me. Have you gotten your Blue Team transponder yet? No? Well I guess you'll have to wait and see. Lastly, I'm not advocating anything. Government's bought and paid for so quit trying to push your ideology 'cause it's game over already. Just sayin' is all.

  • @weirddave, But wait, weren't the Stalinist purges perpetrated by Volkswagon? Oh, actually, no, that was government. But wasn't the Holocaust the handiwork of Pepsico? Er, um, wait, that was government, too. Ah, but wasn't The Terror during Robespierre's time the brainchild of Lloyd's of London? Hmm, nah, scratch that. That was also gubmint.

Gee, I think you're right, Dave. Now if only these leftist zombies would get it.

  • @MrHoopSr I can tell you how Social Security is an entitlement. It is a gigantic pyramid scheme where they are taking your money to pay the people who have retired. It is NOT insurance, and most people take out a whole lot more than they've put in, including interest. It is redistribution of wealth in a sinister form.

  • @fmseymour0220

Come on! Who are you really???

    Is that you Rick???? :)

  • hmmm that was a perfect description of a tea bagger and ur average republican

  • That sums it up perfectly. Especially for the Obama zombies.

  • @dtorfleming I don't watch Fox News. I don't even have a TV.

  • @Sistarovat then u r better informed than a FOX ( fake ) news viewer

  • Yep, that definitely sounds like Democrats to me. I go to college with some of them. You'd think they don't have a brain. Everything they regurgitate is something they heard their professor or parents say.

  • @Sistarovat

But I'm sure your republican ideas are orginal like...

.. cut taxes on the rich to increase revenues.

.. cut social security and medicare

.. illegal immigrants are taking our jobs

    .. Obama is a commie

    ... etc.

I'm sure all of your own republican ideas are orginal and not something you were taught by fox news.

  • @dtorfleming No, Republican ideas tend to come from common sense and pride. Democrat's ideas tend to come from a lack of work ethic and whining.

  • @ZachNoltemeyer

Sure republicans are all common-sensy! Obama's a Muslim! Children should have jobs! Deregulate the finance industry and polluters! Bombing Muslim nations creates peace! Forcing children to pray in schools creates religious freedom! Deport 15 mexican workers who pick all of our crops! Etc. You people are completely insane. Common sense has nothing to do with this republican party.

  • @dtorfleming Ha you are an idiot if you think that the majority of Republicans support those ideas. If you believe this because people laughed or cheered for these ideas at Republican debates you are even more worthless than I originally thought. Stop whining and work for a living. Government handouts are not the way to go, contrary to popular belief.

  • @ZachNoltemeyer

Yes, that's right. I'm the idiot. Have you seen your slate of presidential candidates? The republican ideas I pointed out are the policies your candidates are promising. More homophobia, bigotry, corporate corruption, greed and outright insanity. Take resonsibilitie for your own insane and hateful party before you attack another.

Oh, and I have a job and pay significant taxes, happily I might add.

  • @dtorfleming If your gunna troll, dont be so obvious. no one happily pays significant taxes and if you found this random video on youtube you clearly have the amount of free time of the unemployed

  • @LObrett21

If you are not happy to pay your taxes to support the military, police, fire department, roads, sanitation, schools, etc. then you are not a responsible and adult member of this society. If you would prefer to live in a 3rd world country or are unwilling to pay your share please depart.

  • @dtorfleming It should all be privatized. CAPITALISM!!

  • @LObrett21

I suspect you don't actually understand what capitalism means. Since you don't have any capital you are not a capitalist. You are not one who decides where capital is invested, you are simply subject to the whims of capitalists who may decide that thier new factory is moving to China and your job is going with it.

I love it when the working class think they are captitalists as if they had some influence on the market.

  • @dtorfleming Who's working class here? I inherited millions in assets. I actually moved my factories to Thailand, much better workers and I can pay lower wages. I don't trust the Chinese, their eyes are just a little too squinty for my tastes, I can't tell when their eyes are open. I once talked to a chinese man on an airplane for an hour before I realized he was asleep the entire time

  • @LObrett21 Just refrain from arguing with him. We will see who gets the last laugh when we are working hard and collecting money while they are still fighting for government handouts.

  • @ZachNoltemeyer

Yes, just refrain from arguing since you see to lack any coherent policy positions that are based upon facts or make any sense.

  • @dtorfleming Explain to me how my positions don't make sense or aren't based upon facts.

  • @LObrett21

And social security was privatized once. It was called Wall Street investment and speculation and it gave us the Great Depression when millions of Americans lost their savings and jobs. It didn't work so well.

  • @LObrett21 what does that make you?

  • @somacoyote Im a gosh darn AMERICAN!!!

  • @dtorfleming Story of every single democrat on every youtube video. "I have a job and love to pay taxes." If that was true then you'd be a Republican.

  • @ZachNoltemeyer

So your saying that the 69M people who voted for Obama are all unemployed. Not too smart are you.

  • @dtorfleming Please show me where I said that.

  • @ZachNoltemeyer

You wrote that I'd have to be a republican if I had a job and love to pay taxes. I assume you're having trouble with logic.

  • @dtorfleming I said you'd have to be a republican to have a job AND love to pay taxes. I didn't say you'd have to be republican to have a job.

  • @ZachNoltemeyer You're clearly a Republican.

  • @DaleyGaming Thank you sir, I appreciate it.

  • i agree septimus...this vid was meant for entertainment purposes...sheesh people, lighten up!

  • LAWL!

  • I'd be considered a democrat and I thought this was great. Works for any political party though truthfully.

  • STFU and laugh

  • This is why political party names have no semantic meaning. I'd rather have factions over political parties, and in national elections, people would vote based on what the candidates say and not based on what animal they represent.

  • true today as it was then

    SPOT ON

  • Love it. The truth.

  • oh man, i didn't expect that! ha!

  • I jus wanted to say that the parties have switched since then. Lol!

  • Democracts back then were the republicans of their day...

  • @PornBuff and nowadays the republicans act like zombies.

  • @redreaper2020 Republicans are more like mad witch doctors than zombies.

  • I'm pretty sure this would be more accurate for Republicans today. :P

  • @KiropLokiIncarnate No. Still true for Democrats.

  • @KiropLokiIncarnate Sounds like all of Barack "Empty Promises" Obama's willful idiot followers.

  • The funniest movie line ever was Joan Blondell's line to Claire Dodd in "Footlight Parade" when she's throwing Dodd's character out after she complains about having no place to go -- "Outside countess. As long as they've got sidewalks, you've got a job."

  • Those zombies do exist in a sense, but they didnt ever die

what happens is the priest uses a special chemical cocktail which induces comatose, and then waits for the person to be discovered as "dead" and buried by the family.

The living person is buried underground, and the priest waits about 24 hours,

the buried person will actually wake up, in an oxygen starved coffin, and will struggle until they pass out

the priest "rescues" the brain-damaged person, and convinces them that they are a slave

  • I'm glad Bob Hope is dead.

  • @liberalguy513 well thats good to know. Troll

  • hahahahahahahaaaaaaa

    oh, yes!

  • that wasn't funny!

  • HEHEHelol.. ahh damn. that was funny..

  • DumbocRats.

  • Timeless clip.

  • Except that Republican President Eisenhower had the highest tax rate at 90%. And the Republicans were all anti war before world war two and had to be attacked before they would vote for war.

  • Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!

  • I like this so much, I had to watch it several times. I'm going to watch the movie.

  • I think people are a little off in the time frame of the party shift.

  • Enough of the party switching comments, everyone. There are 300-some comments on here and probably a quarter of them are people saying that the parties switched ideologies since this movie was made (1940). The issue is significantly more complex than that, and after about the 50th time someone mentioned it, it stopped being original or interesting. Stop it.

  • @Septimus39 I don't see why people should stop mentioning it. It's a free country. Oh, and: "The issue is significantly more complicated than that" - the ultimate vague statement that claims to say something while actually saying nothing at all.

  • @DiscordChaos "It's a free country?" What are you, six? The same freedom that allows you to say what you want allows me to ask you not to. Ta-da. The parties didn't just decide to swap all their views one day, it was over a period of many years that they started to focus on some areas that had traditionally been the province of the other. "They switched views" is an oversimplifcation at best. Youtube is hardly the venue for a history lesson, so I say it's more complicated than that. Read a book.

  • @Septimus39 @Septimus39 "Youtube is hardly the venue for a history lesson?" Oh, so is that why you thought it would be nice to post, without context, a video that could possibly give viewers the wrong idea?

It was the right idea at the time, anyway. As even you had to admit, albeit in a roundabout fashion. So, to express what you said more simply - back in the 40s, the Democrats were the dominant party among Southern whites. Guess which party is dominant among Southern whites now?

  • @DiscordChaos You're right. Sorry, everyone. I should have mentioned in the description that this 25 second clip about zombies didn't adequately represent the history of politics in America. Fair warning to all. I hope nobody based their master's thesis on it.

Another helpful reminder. Back in the 40s, doctors recommended smoking. Guess who recommends smoking now? That's right, tobacco executives. Just so we're all clear, doctors and tobacco executives have swapped views.

  • @Septimus39 Aww, sarcasm. Isn't that cute?

Unsurprisingly, though, you're wrong. Doctors and tobacco executives didn't swap views. I'm pretty sure tobacco executives were always in favor of smoking. It's only doctors who changed their minds.

Oh, and I'm not even sure what, exactly, you were trying to achieve with that analogy. Just another helpful reminder. :)

  • @Septimus39

LOL DAMN! You put the smack-down in that argument. Very nice. I give you a sincere golf clap for that one. You've done well. But you pissed me off because I WAS going to basis my master's thesis on it.

  • @Septimus39 Why didn't tobacco executives want us to smoke back in the 40s? They wouldn't make much money that way.

  • @Septimus39

    cry more, bitch

  • @Septimus39 Newt Gingrich used to fly into Bohemian Grove on American Tobacco's jet airplane. Cool.

  • @DiscordChaos

Have you ever stopped to consider whether or not signifying where the "southern whites" are, illustrates your bias in someway against Southern whites? Because illustrating that isn't necessary, as I'm sure there were other, non-white people in the democratic party too. But, in a way, it implies that it's everyone against southern whites. That's just not fair. It's downright anti-American.

  • @itcanbecheezcaketime Oh, sure. I'm sure there were non-whites in the Democratic party back then, just as there are non-white Republicans today. There are always exceptions to the rule.

  • @DiscordChaos

There are not just exceptions. There isn't a rule... at all. To say that 'most people in some group are white', in a country with predominate white people and culture, isn't saying much. It would be like saying "I'm against the Chinese baseball team... because clearly it's for brown people". How retarded would that be? In fact, that would be racist... just like your comment. You don't seem to recognize the hilarious double-entendre associated with your comment.

  • @itcanbecheezcaketime LOL. You remind me of what I read in a sociology textbook about the culture of victimhood in the US, and how the latest victims are white Protestant males who whine that "everyone gets special treatment except us."

I'm not even going to argue with you here, because you and I both know that non-whites prefer the Democrats, and Southern whites prefer the GOP, and that Southern whites have produced many racists and rednecks. This is a fact. You just don't want to admit it.
