Two things. (1) Love your name and love that game! xD (2) Did you ever read the Remembrance novelisation? It fleshed out the Special Weapons Dalek, said its extra firepower required vast amounts of radiation which drove it insane and led other Daleks to label it "the Abomination"

@ndude60 In the story the Daleks are having a civil war. The rengade faction was oposing mechanical upgrades that Davros had given the imperials since they felt it sullied them.

@ndude60 its a dalek civil war. the renegade's refuse to obey davros due to seeing him as inferior (we are the superior beings etc) so davros created the imperials, daleks with implants that would make them obey him. the renegades saw this is a crime against the dalek species and so it went from there

its a pity, Mc Coy's era actually looked faker than the previous eras, mainly because of the high quality camera's against low quality special effects. it worked better when the effects outweighed the cameras in quality. No wonder it didn't last long.

@Jokie155 In some ways it did I suppose, however, I found that this Dalek story was very interesting. Though I do wish they kept this line in the final version of the episode: "Oh Davros, I am far more than just another Time Lord." :D

It was either that or the Dalek props fitted with the usual supermarket trolley wheels! Much less comfortable and much more shakey for the poor soul inside operating it.

@Jokie155 mostly cos the budget was a mere whipround thanks to michael grade. McCoys reign did sport a couple of memorable stories though. I enjoyed this one and also The Curse Of Fenric

@banneradders The very best explosion in Who history did come in this episode though. The destruction of the yard gates was fantastic. The budget for Who was pisspoor in those days. One episode of Red Dwarf had a greater budget than a whole season of Who.

is it just me, or does the fact that the renegade dalek props were so old and falling apart when this was filmed make them look much less threatening (especialy with the drab colour sceme, because even the one used in the B&W episodes looked better)

@alphamone The renegade props were only three years old. They were the imperials in Revelation of the Daleks and they were built new for that story.

You look at the Daleks used in Resurrection of the Daleks or Destiny of the Daleks for the definition of "tatty, unthreatening Dalek".
