The narration may be nice and poetic but unfortunately I don't believe he was driving the rs4, think the ole guy was driving the s4 instead becas clearing the steering wheel isn't that of a rs4, instead it's the same steering wheel ofthe s4....the rs4 comes with the silver flat bottom steering wheel as standard!!!!!!!!
@Srbandara We dont get the awesome flat bottomed steering wheel in the US like they have in Europe...stupid crash testing regulations...so its definitely the RS4 he's driving, just with the US steering wheel.
Just a note. He mentions that his RS4 had a lever that would shift up and down. I don't think that the RS4 came in an automatic transmission as that description would indicate. Good narration either way.
I listened again to that part and what he is saying in his stupid highbrow way is its not auto with paddles, its a stick shift.. The lever he mentions is the stick shift... He could have worded it better..
@allenwoofer No one loves to hear his own voice as much my old man. I had not seen his face or heard his voice in over 10 year's when I stumbled onto this. I can only say it is a miracle he did not kill himself as he is most famous for going left when he was supposed to go right back in the 50's; this cost him a big chunk of his head. He once said I was the best natural driver with a gearbox he had ever driven with....hardly. What a guy! YIKES!
I love this video, great car, great review. He is right on the money with everything he said. I couldn't have said it any better. Best all around car I have ever driven.
I agree with "jivakind" that the narrative is beautifully crafted; moreover, this is some of the most impressive RS4 footage that I have encountered on YouTube so far. Well done James P. Morse!
Final thought, glad to hear that (North American) Audi can be as classy as the beautiful cars they manufacture and sell.
... I doubt the writer/guy in this video reads the site , but nevertheless he is a great writer ... speaking of the paddle shifting it shifts as "surely as two hands find eachother in the dark" nice , nice ,nice ... your writing is as masterful as the engineering in the car.
I just bought an RS4 after owning an M3 and a BMW 550. There are some differences, but I really like the RS4. It is smooth and predictable. I haven't had any wheel spin yet...even trying in the rain...It is stable as an elder moutain goat. But the question you have to ask is "What do I like?" If you just aren't sold on it...then you won't be happy. Good luck.
Man I wish I could have one of those. Honestly, I wasn't listening to anything he was saying. I was too distracted by the scenery and engine tone. Audi ftw!!!
i like his storytelling, and the car is beautiful. it'd be a tough decision, however, choosing between the RS4 and the M3. the M3 would smoke it in most conditions, but in the wet the audi would be the better.
excerpt from car and driver magazine: "Sorry, 420-hp Audi RS 4; this one sounds better and pulls harder. Dropping the hammer from a standstill, we blasted to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, 0.4 second quicker than the previous car, with the quarter-mile dispatched in 12.9 seconds at 111 mph, an even larger, 0.7-second gain. The surface wasn't ideal, however, and we expect even better numbers once we get an M3 to our usual test track. Even so, that's already enough to outrun the $69,785 Audi RS 4."
@Srbandara look at the grill when it swings by its a rs4

There should be more reviews on cars like this. The passion of automobiles seems to be lost in most of the road tests and shoot outs.
It was fantastic to share in this man's love of motoring.

You are very stupid ironchopsticks. The M3 is 400 Hp and the RS4 is 420Hp....do the math.
themagiccog 4 years ago
the m3 makes 414 hp, get your facts straight.

RS4 is a FAR better daily driver - larger, more room, and AWD if you live any where that weather is an issue
triplayer 4 years ago
that's true triplayer. The M3 might be better driver's car, bo the every day suitability of an rs4 makes much more sense for me!
