Kudos to the poster, I really liked the vid. I've gotta say though… some songs by Swedish death metal bands of the early 90s have the sickest, most evil riffs ever written. Dismember and Entombed's first two albums are packed with them. :) Not to mention the crushing riffs of American band Autopsy's first two releases.

The problem with this, is that it is AMERICAN METAL....Which is so far behind the Europeans it is sad. Try listening to Finnish and Norwegian Metal if you want to hear what good metal is supposed to sound like.

American Metal never really goes past the "Garage Band" quality of sound and talent. Europeans are the Masters Of Metal.

But the motivation and purpose of North American metal is totaly different than the motivation and purpose of European metal. European metal bands are comprised of individuals who are classicaly trained and go to highly aclaimed musical institutes.This is what makes their sound, skill, and technique so far advanced and ahead of North American Metal.

Stratovarius, Avantasia, Edguy, Night Wish, Excalion, Pellek, kamelot, Sonata Arctica etc...These are just a small example of European Metal bands that perform at a skill level that can't even be compared to North American Metal bands. Like I said the difference in European Metal is the Musical Training that they undergo to produce the metal that they produce. Metal bands from N.A. are born from depressed pot smoking kids in a garage who can only play 3 chords.

No other style of music has so many sub genres that branch out from it as Metal does. Prgressive metal, speed metal,neo-classical metal, power metal, avante-garde, sludge, folk metal, stoner metal, drone metal, doom metal, trance metal, blackened crust metal, viking metal, grindcore metal, goth metal, death metal, industrial metal, celtic metal, oriental metal, medieval metal....Just to name a few.
