There are adverts, and then there are adverts. A 30 second advert to watch a 2 minute clip is ludicrous.

Second point : I have NO idea what you are all complaining about - I have not seen a single advert on youtube in YEARS. Get Firefox and the Adblock Plus plugin and 99% of ALL adverts on the web disappear.

I NEVER watch ads. I click off immediately and watch something else. If everyone did the same the ads would stop. As for youtube not being able to operate without them.....bollocks. Advertisers would pay for static ads in the corner of the screen if necessary. You tube is so popular it can set the rules and advertisers will fight for what they can get. As soon as ad comes up watch something else. Otherwise youtube will be ruined and big business will once again have spoilt a good thing.

Youtube make hundreds of millions of dollors annually, don't tell me that youtube are using advertising to keep the site free for our benefit. If they thought they could make more money by charging the public than from ads they would charge to watch the videos.
