Genius Victor, defend a mis-translated word in a 400 yo text!! When a weak atheist does a little research and finds out that you are willing to defend a mistake the same way you would something important, (rabbits chewing cud) they see where religion and superstition will take them and choose to become more outspoken against silliness!! What a champion for atheism you are!! LOL, play that kazoo Victor!! TOOT TOOT!
"there is as much proof" - false. No such thing as atheist proof.
If you take a gnostic position and say that you know with all certainty there are no Gods, then you need to be able to prove that. Thats because you need universal knowledge.
That said, most atheists don't make that claim. We admit there could be a god. However, it is bad to believe things you don't have good evidence for. The gods that we know of (allah, jesus, etc) appear to be man made. Therefore we are atheist toward them.
@michaelthomas1234 I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to say. Basically, based on shockofgod's videos, tactics and behavior, he can't prove the accuracy of Christianity any more than we can prove the accuracy of Atheism.
@SocksofGod I understood what you where trying to say. I am trying to explain that the comparison --whether by you or shock-- is a false analogy (apples and oranges). Gnostic theistic beliefs like the Christian faith needs proof, and so it is a problem they don't have any. Negative, agnostic positions can't be proved and don't require proof. It is misleading to say that they can't prove their position "any more than we can prove atheism".
"I sit on the fence between atheism and agnosticism" - false. Those two words are addressing different issues. You are agnostic. That means you do not "know" with all certainty. You are also an atheist, which means you do not believe in gods.
You probably mean to say, you are on the fence about deism. That is the belief that there is a god, but we have little or no information about him/her/it. You could be an agnostic deist, a gnostic atheist, a gnostic deist or an agnostic atheist.
@michaelthomas1234 I say this because I do have moments where, yes, it is comforting to believe for a while that maybe there is a god. Then I wake up the next day and realize that, given the behavior of a large portion of humanity (I may be generalizing but I have no faith in humanity anyway), if there is a god, I choose not to believe in him or her.
I just wanted to make sure you understood the terms. There is a very common misconception about what atheism and agnosticism means. From your last post you are most certainly agnostic. It doesn't matter whether you are atheist or deist. It may not matter to you, but apologists like to accuse atheists of having no proof. Not only do you not need proof for a negative, agnostic position, but there is no such thing. This is why semantics are important.

Hey Socks: Learn to spell, too. ATHE-IST. ATHE-ISM. First the "e," then the "i."

Actually, atheism is a personal position applicable to an individual's belief regarding deities and does not require one to make a gnostic statement.
This is in sharp contrast to a religion, especially a self-proselytizing religion, which presents itself as truth.
The proof and evidence that atheism is accurate and correct lies with an individual's belief, not objective facts.
The claim of the atheist is "I don't believe in gods." How could atheism not be accurate and correct?
